Liverpool icon heaps praise on Caoimhin Kelleher
This summer, the Irish shot-stopper finally left the shadow of Alisson Becker and is preparing for his first season as a number one in the big leagues with Brentford.
While Liverpool fans were disappointed to see him leave Anfield, the move is definitely progressive for his career. Kelleher completed a move to Brentford this summer. Pic:Another former Reds goalkeeper who knows a thing or two about delivering on the big stage is Jerzy Dudek.
Dudek played 186 times for Liverpool but is easily best known for his penalty shootout heroics in the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul.
The former Poland stopper has heaped praise on Kelleher for his time at Anfield but believes that Arne Slot has another very good backup in Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The Georgian signed for Liverpool from Valencia last August but played the 2024/25 season at the Spanish club.

He told the official Liverpool website: 'I think we have two really good goalkeepers. We also had two really good goalkeepers because Kelleher was absolutely amazing when he had the opportunity to play because Alisson couldn't, and this is what you need.
'You know from the past that the competitions are long, there are many, many games to come. You never know what is going to happen and you need two good goalkeepers.
'Alisson is, in my opinion, one of the best goalkeepers in the world and he is the No.1 and then Mamardashvili, he can be a really good replacement. He has got all the capacities to be at the top of the game, which absolutely we need.
'For every position you need to have a good replacement, especially in goal.'

Last year, he played 10 times in the Premier League and another 10 times across the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Champions League.
Dudek continued: 'So far, from what I have seen, the relationship between the goalkeepers here is very good and I hope it stays like that because there are so many competitions and everyone will get a chance.
'It's not like it used to be where one goalkeeper could play 300 games in a row! It is nothing like this anymore so now you will get the chance to play.'
During his time at Liverpool, Kelleher kept 24 clean sheets in 67 appearances.
He is also a record-holder, having won the most penalty shootouts of any Liverpool goalkeeper with four.

Dudek, who also joined Liverpool from a foreign league, believes that adapting to the Premier League will be a challenge for new man Mamardashvili.
He added: 'The game is quicker. There is much more pressure on the player and he will probably find that out very soon!
'There is much more pressure on the goalkeeper, especially now when you are trying to build the play with your feet but also with crosses, and this is a huge difference between the Premier League and when you play in the Champions League, for example.
'It is a different style of refereeing and everything that is a foul in Europe is 'play on' in England. As a goalkeeper you have to accept it and be strong in your mind that it doesn't matter what is going to happen, you need to deal with it.
'I found this out at the beginning when I joined Liverpool and realised I had to adapt. I didn't accept it at first but you have to be really strong and you need to respect it because it is the same for everyone.'

Newcastle agree fee with Aston Villa for winger Jacob Ramsey
Newcastle have agreed a fee for Aston Villa winger Jacob Ramsey. The 24-year-old is due to travel to the north east for a medical after a deal in the region of £40million was agreed, the PA news agency understands. The prospective sale of Ramsey, who has made 167 appearances at Villa Park, will represent pure profit for Villa, who are walking a UEFA financial fair play and PSR tightrope and need to sell. Ramsey came through the ranks at Aston Villa (Jacob King/PA) If the medical goes without problem and personal terms are agreed in the next 24 hours, Ramsey could be a Newcastle player by the time they visit Villa Park for Saturday lunchtime's Premier League opener. Villa boss Unai Emery is not expected to see much, if any, of the financial proceeds as the club's spending is under the close eye of UEFA after they were fined £9.5m for breaching regulations. They are keen on re-signing Paris St Germain midfielder Marco Asensio, who spent the second half of last season on loan. Ramsey's arrival at St James' Park will boost spirits after a difficult transfer window for Eddie Howe's side. They have signed Anthony Elanga and Malick Thiaw, with Aaron Ramsdale arriving on loan, but missed out on Benjamin Sesko, who chose to join Manchester United instead. The future of Alexander Isak also remains unclear following the Sweden international's desire to join Liverpool.

Shamrock Rovers v Ballkani, Besiktas v St Pat's live score updates
Besiktas v St Pat's - 7pm Stephen Kenny's St Pat's will be looking to restore some pride after being thoroughly outclassed in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League qualifier against Turkish giants Besiktas. Ole Gunnar Solskjær rocked into Dublin not only revealing that he nearly replaced Stephen Kenny as Ireland manager, but then further rubbed salt into the wounds by masterminding a performance with former Chelsea star Tammy Abrahama scoring an impressive hattrick. Losing the first leg 4-1, St Pat's will be looking for a big result in Turkey and although turning the tie around seems unlikely, Stephen Kenny will be hoping for a confidence-boosting performance as the league season run in looms large. Kenny hasn't had it all his own way since returning to management with Pat's sitting in sixth place domestically. Today's game kicks off at 7 pm Irish time and will be broadcast on YouTube so we will have all the updates here. Shamrock Rovers v Ballkani - 8pm Stephen Bradley did not hold back in his criticism of Shamrock Rovers after their 1-0 loss to Ballkani last week, saying it is one of the worst performances they've produced in Europe during his tenure, and all is not rosey in Tallaght. Bradley met the media on Wednesday and revealed Jack Byrne will not be in the squad for the crunch clash while multiple media outlets reported a training ground disagreement between the pair. But Ballkani will care little about Rovers' woes as they look to punch their ticket into the Conference League playoff round. Today's game takes place at Tallaght Stadium with kick-off set for 8 pm. Those looking to watch it can tune into LOI TV who have obtained the rights for this one. We will have all the live updates here on the Irish Mirror. 18:37 Darragh Culhane Hello and welcome to live coverage of tonight's two UEFA Conference League qualifiers featuring Shamrock Rovers and St Pat's. Stephen Kenny and St Pat's saw their European hopes dashed last week when they lost 4-1 at home to Besiktas but will be hoping to put in a performance to be proud of tonight. Those looking to watch the game can tune into YouTube with local broadcasters streaming the game. That game kicks off at 7 pm and we will have all the updates here. Shamrock Rovers host Ballkani at 8 pm in Tallaght Stadium as they look to overhaul their 1-0 first-leg deficit.
