Administration, Police, Rescue and other institutions are in good sync and cooperation for the purpose. Members of peace committees are also present near most of the processions and gatherings to help facilitate necessary arrangements.
Chief Minister said, 'For the first time in Muharram-ul-Haram, cyber patrolling is underway to prevent fake news, besides control rooms being operational 24/7 at provincial, divisional and district levels.' She added, 'Healthy food packets are provided to mourners in langar. Sherbet and lemon water dispensers are also available for mourners across Punjab. participants.'
She added, 'For the first time, a field hospital and clinic-on-wheels are available near processions and gatherings. Continuous surveillance is being carried out with Safe City cameras for security. Special arrangements for cleanliness under Suthra Punjab are made for the routes of processions and gatherings.'
The Chief Minister said, 'In view of the heat and humidity, cold water is also being sprinkled on the routes of gatherings and processions. Dangled wires have been removed from the route of processions.'
Moreover, mourners of Imam Hussain (AS) said, 'Record arrangements have been made for cleanliness on the procession routes in all divisions and districts of Punjab.'
A female pilgrim said, 'For the first time, Bibi Pak Daman and inner city security, cleanliness and other excellent arrangements were made.'
They added, 'Very good and prompt arrangements were made for the provision of medical aid by Rescue 1122, Clinics on Wheels, and field hospitals.' They observed, 'Safe City cameras and drones continue to monitor the processions. Cyber patrolling is also being done for the first time.'
The Pilgrims were of the view that in addition to procession routes, excellent food arrangements were also made. They noted, 'Very good security arrangements are made, religious rituals are performed in a safe environment.' They said, 'For the first time, same standard of all arrangements including security and cleanliness was seen in the entire province including the south, central and north.' They added, 'This is the first time that arrangements like big and central cities are made in small cities Visitors are coming to see.'
The Pilgrims expressed their appreciation for Chief Minister by saying, 'Well done Maryam Nawaz Sharif.' 'Please continue the good work,' a visitor requested Chief Minister.

Chehlum, Urs of Data conclude under tightened security
The Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) and the concluding ceremonies of the Urs of Data Ali Hajveri, widely known as Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), were observed across Punjab on Friday under extensive security arrangements. Authorities confirmed that all processions, majalis, and Urs gatherings concluded peacefully, with no major incidents reported. This year, the 20th of Safar in the Islamic calendar coincided with both the Chehlum and the third and final day of the Urs celebrations in Lahore. Over 37,000 police officers and personnel were deployed across the province to ensure security at 644 majalis and 392 mourning processions. In Lahore alone, 44 majalis and 14 processions were held, guarded by over 12,000 officers. DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran personally inspected the route of the main Chehlum procession from Haveli Alf Shah in the inner city. Security forces sealed connecting streets, stationed snipers on rooftops, and monitored routes via real-time CCTV provided by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority. Walk-through gates, 6,753 metal detectors, and 926 checkpoints were set up for screening. Women officers were deployed for women and children, while plainclothes personnel monitored crowds. "Maintaining peace and protecting every citizen is our mission," Kamran said, urging public cooperation during sensitive occasions. Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar praised the "excellent security arrangements" and commended the CCPO Lahore, DIG Operations, and senior officers for their coordination. He noted that law enforcement agencies had been on high alert for several days, implementing measures against one-wheeling, aerial firing, and other violations during both the religious observances and Independence Day celebrations earlier in the week. Police reported 277 arrests and 249 cases during the crackdown, including 162 arrests for one-wheeling and 13 for aerial firing. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, who also chairs the Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, visited the Home Department's central control room to review live monitoring. He was joined by Acting Chief Secretary Punjab Ahmad Raza Sarwar, Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi, and other senior officials. Rafique reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring peace, protecting lives and property, and guaranteeing complete religious freedom. He said authorities had engaged scholars and community leaders from all sects throughout Muharram to promote unity and harmony. The Acting Chief Secretary added that all relevant departments - including police, Rescue 1122, and traffic authorities - remained on high alert until the safe return of mourners and devotees. The Home Secretary said a zero-tolerance policy was being enforced against sectarian hate speech, with the provincial cyber-patrolling cell monitoring and taking action against violators. Special arrangements were made in Lahore for thousands of devotees attending the Urs. Control rooms at provincial and district levels ensured continuous coordination among security and administrative agencies. Officials credited the joint efforts of Punjab Police, the Home Department, district administrations, and religious leaders for the peaceful conclusion of both events.

CM jets off to Japan on five-day visit
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif arrived in Thailand en route to Japan for a five-day official visit on Friday. The Japanese government has invited the chief minister to participate in the World Expo to be organised in Osaka. Provincial Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, ministers Azma Zahid Bokhari, Malik Sohaib Bherth, Zeeshan Rafique, Special Assistant Sania Ashiq and senior government officers are in the delegation. The chief minister will also visit Tokyo and Yokohama. She will meet senior officials of the Japanese government and visit various institutions of the country. Pakistan's Ambassador to Thailand Rukhsana Afzal and other officials welcomed the delegation at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok on the first leg of the foreign visit. Senior officials of the Thailand government were also present at the airport. Earlier, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz presided over a meeting in Lahore to review progress on clean water, filtration and other development projects. She was given a detailed briefing about the Model Village project. She reviewed progress on the Lahore and Punjab development projects. The chief minister reviewed a proposal to install water filtration plants in remote areas. She set the deadline of June 30 June next year for installing the plants. She emphasised early completion of the construction and repair of streets under the Lahore Development Project. She expressed her indignation over delay in the completion of some projects. She also ordered timely completion of 122 beautification projects for every city of Punjab. Of the projects, 51 will be completed in Lahore division, 64 in Rawalpindi, 37 in Faisalabad, 75 in Multan. 45 in Sargodha, 64 in Gujranwala, 51 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 61 in Bahawalpur, 53 in Gujrat and 49 in Sahiwal. She underscored that public complaints regarding unavailability of drinking water would be redressed on a priority basis. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives due to a cloudburst and other tragic incidents in Gilgit-Baltistan, Buner and other northern areas. She expressed her profound grief over the deaths of children and women in the incidents and conveyed her sympathies and condolence to the bereaved families.

Independence Day celebrated across Punjab with vigour
LAHORE: The 78th Independence Day was celebrated across Punjab with vigour and fervour and a new record of fireworks and laser shows was set simultaneously in all 41 districts of the province. On the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, special arrangements were made in all districts across Punjab to celebrate 78th Independence Day in a befitting manner. In Lahore, Rawalpindi and Murree, as well as all other districts, fireworks at 12 midnight turned the night of Independence Day into a moon night ('Chaand Raat'). As soon as the clock struck 12 O' clock, beautiful colours spread across the skies, and thousands of citizens participated with full zeal and zest along with their children and families. Such a large-scale, simultaneous government-level celebration was the first of its kind. Along with fireworks and laser light shows, music concerts were also arranged. The digital show displayed through drones was also immensely liked by the citizens, with special interest shown by the children and women. Artists performed 'Dil Dil Pakistan' and other national songs, making citizens sway with joy. Illumination of roads, highways, intersections, government and private buildings, parks, and markets further enhanced the beauty of the Independence Day celebrations. On the appeal of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, citizens across Punjab hoisted the national flag on their homes, cars, and bikes. On the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Independence Day celebrations had begun from August 1. Special security and cleanliness arrangements had been made for the celebration of various events.
