Clemson Makes Strong Push for Four-Star RB Ahead of May 2025 Official Visit
Four-star running back Jae Lamar, a standout from Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia, recently wrapped up a highly anticipated visit to Clemson University, and the Tigers made a strong impression on the talented prospect. Known for his blend of size and speed, Lamar stands at 6-foot and weighs 205 pounds, making him one of the most sought-after running backs in the class of 2026. With offers from major programs like Georgia, Ohio State, Miami, Alabama, and Florida State, Lamar's recruiting journey has already attracted significant attention.
During his visit to Clemson, Lamar had the chance to experience the Tigers' renowned football culture firsthand. He was particularly impressed by how the program stands out in every aspect of its operations, calling it a unique experience compared to other schools he's visited. This connection with the Clemson staff and the atmosphere around the program seemed to solidify his interest, as he quickly picked up an official offer from the Tigers during his trip.

Lamar has scheduled an official visit to Clemson on May 30, 2025, a key step in his decision-making process. While Georgia is currently the favorite in the Crystal Ball® predictions, Clemson is firmly in the mix, along with Auburn, Miami, and Florida State. The Tigers' ability to create a lasting connection with Lamar could prove pivotal as he moves closer to making his commitment.
Clemson's approach to recruiting, focused on building strong relationships with top-tier talent, is paying off, as evidenced by Lamar's positive visit. With the official visit coming up and strong competition from elite programs, the Tigers are hoping to make one final push in securing Lamar's commitment.

Where Clemson landed in ESPN's updated 2026 recruiting rankings after June official visits
June's slate of official visits is now in the rearview, and while Clemson football awaits several key recruiting decisions, ESPN has released its latest 2026 class rankings — with the Tigers still firmly in the national mix. Clemson checks in at No. 6 overall in ESPN's updated rankings, sliding down two spots from the previous edition. Still, the Tigers remain one of the top programs in the country with 10 ESPN 300 commitments already in the fold. The current class continues to show strong momentum, especially after a fast-paced March that reshaped the outlook of Clemson's 2026 haul. 'Clemson is coming off a College Football Playoff appearance, but the Tigers are still chasing the heights of their mid-2010s success under Dabo Swinney, and their 2025 class ranked just 37th in the country,' ESPN's Craig Haubert wrote. 'Their 2026 group is looking more promising, especially after a red-hot March in which Swinney landed eight verbals, including five ESPN 300 commits.' Four-star defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil is scheduled to announce on June 28, followed by five-star lineman Bryce Perry-Wright on July 4. Both are highly sought-after targets who would significantly boost the Tigers' already strong defensive class. Nationally, USC holds the top spot with 17 ESPN 300 commitments. Texas A&M (13), Notre Dame (14), Georgia (12), and Ohio State (13) round out the Top 5. Within the ACC, Miami sits at No. 8 with nine ESPN 300 pledges, while Florida State has surged to No. 10 after previously being outside the Top 25, now holding eight ESPN 300 commits. Other ACC teams in the Top 25 include North Carolina (No. 18), Cal (No. 19), SMU (No. 20), and Louisville (No. 25). Syracuse, meanwhile, took the biggest drop after a quiet visit period, falling 12 spots to No. 22 with just one ESPN 300 recruit. As more summer decisions roll in, Clemson is well-positioned to stay among the nation's elite — and potentially climb even higher in the coming weeks. Clemson head coach Erik Bakich on the Tigers not being done in the transfer portal
Clemson baseball's early postseason exit was a bitter pill to swallow, but head coach Erik Bakich is already shifting focus to what comes next — and he's not wasting any time. After another disappointing finish in regional play, Bakich is using the extra time to aggressively reshape his roster through the transfer portal. The Tigers won 45 games and reached the ACC Championship, but a crushing late-inning loss to West Virginia followed by a lopsided defeat to Kentucky ended their season short of expectations. 'We are fully aware that we took a step back in the month of June,' Bakich said Tuesday on SportsTalk with Phil Kornblut. 'That is all that really matters, and we had nothing to hang our hat on for success this season… So for us, we are heads down and instead of talking about it, we are going to be about it.' Since his arrival in 2022, Bakich has made it clear the standard at Clemson is a return to Omaha. After coming close in 2024 with a Super Regional run, the 2025 season marked a step back — and Bakich is determined to fix that quickly. So far, he's added seven players through the portal, including five hitters aimed at addressing offensive inconsistency and two arms to bolster the pitching staff. One of the first portal pickups was Ariston Veasey, a hard-throwing righty from Alabama, followed by Catawba transfer Hayden Simmerson. Still, Bakich says they're far from done. 'Our coaching staff has been on a mission to find some high-impact dudes, and we are still looking,' he said. 'Trying to find one or two more pitchers… Clemson is looking, and we want an absolute dude.' CBS shares Dolphins summer trade proposal for CB Jalen Ramsey
As the start of Miami Dolphins training camp nears, the franchise is still looking to lock down a trade partner for cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The 30-year-old wasn't a part of Dolphins OTAs or mandatory minicamp as Miami continues to seek an exit strategy. Ramsey is a seven-time Pro Bowl corner who is under contract through the 2028 season. That amount of team control could be attractive to a potential suitor. Of course, Ramsey's three-year, $72.3 million contract extension ahead of last season means he carries pricey cap hits over the final three seasons of his deal. While Ramsey's cap hit in 2025 is $16.6 million, that number jumps to $25 million in 2026, $26.8 million in 2027 and $36.1 million in 2028. Ramsey's reported preferred destinations are on the West Coast and CBS' summer trade proposals would satisfy that hope. Ramsey and the Miami Dolphins have basically been broadcasting the cornerback's trade availability for weeks, anticipating a breakup less than one year after the two sides struck a lucrative contract extension. And early indications are Ramsey would prefer to land in Los Angeles. A reunion with the Rams makes sense given their title aspirations and secondary needs, but the Chargers were reportedly close to swinging a major deal for Metcalf earlier this offseason, so they could be even more primed to part with real draft capital, this time to shore up the back end of Jesse Minter's defense. They've still got north of $25 million in 2025 salary cap space. - Cody Benjamin, CBS Sports. At this point, Miami has to be eager to just rip the band-aid off. Earlier this offseason, ESPN put together hypothetical trade packages for Ramsey. The best return was a 2026 fourth-rounder. Two other projections included either one or two late-round picks. ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter remained confident recently that a Ramsey deal would eventually get done and likely before the start of training camp. "The Dolphins continue to have conversations about trading Jalen Ramsey and I think that a trade there will get done. The question is, when does it get done? Does it get done next week? The week after? Prior to the start of training camp? "I don't know exactly when it's going to be, but Jalen Ramsey will get traded. It'll be I would expect before the start of training camp. We'll see how it shakes out, where he goes. I think he would like to go to the West Coast, to Los Angeles. Rams, Chargers, somewhere like that. And we'll see how that happens," Schefter said a week ago.
