Mother, stepfather of missing children found in Wyoming extradited to Alabama

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The mother and step-father of two formerly missing children who were later found in Wyoming have been extradited to Alabama.
According to arrest records, Leanna Varcoe was extradited from Cheyenne, Wyo. and booked into the Morgan County Jail on Feb. 24.

Leanna is the mother of a 9-year-old and a 5-year-old who were reported missing after investigators said she went to a family member's house on Feb. 3, took both the children and fled.
Court records also show that Zachary Varcoe, the children's stepfather, was extradited to Morgan County from Wyoming and arrested on Feb. 22.
According to police, on Jan. 24, the department received a report of child abuse from the Morgan County Department of Human Resources. A detective with Decatur Police Department's Family Services Unit was assigned to the case and began an investigation.
During the investigation, authorities said temporary custody of, was given to a family member in Toney. DPD said on Feb. 5, it was found that Leanna may have fled the state with the children with Zachary.
Court records say 21-year-old killed grandparents with sword and knife
After meeting with the Morgan County District Attorney's Office, the sheriff's office said detectives obtained an interference of custody warrant for Leanna. Based on evidence, a warrant for child abuse was obtained for Zachary, according to police.
Police in Cheyenne, Wyo., said the kids were found in a hotel parking lot. Officers said they received information that a couple with warrants were in the area. They spoke with the management of the Sands Motel, who told them which room the couple was staying in.
When police arrived at the motel, the couple surrendered. Both children were taken into protective custody.
Arrest records show Leanna is currently being held with a bond of $100,000; Zachary is also being held in the Morgan County Jail with a bond of $210,000. His charges, per arrest records, were listed as 'miscellaneous.'
News 19 has reached out to the Decatur Police Department to learn more about the Varcoe's arrests.

'On my watch, the whims of the fanatical left will never make inroads in Alabama,' explained Robertson. 'The woke mob won't be able to tell us a boy can play girls sports, and we will continue to ensure that George Soros never gains a foothold in our criminal justice system.' Previously, Robertson played a key role in leading national litigation to protect women's sports, reforming Alabama's parole system, passing the Speedy Trial Act, election integrity, and protecting citizens from government overreach. 'You heard AG Marshall say that I am the law enforcement candidate in this race, and I am. This is their race, and they know that I'm their girl.' Robertson stated. Two men accused of child sex crimes arrested after child predator operation

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Two Decatur men accused of child sex crimes were arrested after a child predator operation took place. On April 26, 2024, authorities conducted an operation focused on Child Sex Trafficking. The purpose of the operation was to identify, investigate, and arrest predators seeking children for sexual acts. During the operation, investigators arrested Corey DeWayne Wynn, 50 of Decatur and Daytron Shawntrell Tolliver, 38, of Decatur. Wynn and Tolliver were both charged with Electronic Solicitation of a Child, and Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act. MCSO said the charges stem from the incident that took place in April. The Morgan County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division, Morgan County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit, Morgan County District Attorney's Office, US Army Cyber Special Agents and Limestone County Sheriff's Office all assisted during the investigation. Additionally, The Morgan County Sheriff's Fugitive Unit executed Grand Jury Arrests warrants for Human Trafficking for both men. Tennessee man with several active warrants arrested by Priceville Police

PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Tennessee man with several active warrants was arrested by Priceville Police after a traffic stop on Tuesday. On Tuesday at 10:42 p.m., Priceville Police pulled a vehicle over along I-65 near mile marker 335. While officers were speaking with the individuals inside the vehicle, a man identified as Trevor Allen Armstrong, 20, of Columbia, Tennessee gave a false name to law enforcement to avoid being identified. According to police, when the false name could not be verified, Armstrong eventually told police his real name, which led to police finding out that he had several active warrants for Felony Aggravated Assault and Domestic Violence Assault issued by the Pulaski Police Department in Pulaski, Tennessee. The Priceville Police Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency then carried out a probable cause search of the vehicle which led to authorities finding a Glock 45 handgun, a quantity of marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia. Priceville Police told News 19 that Armstrong has a history of multiple convictions related to narcotics and violent crimes, including robbery, theft of property, evading arrest, and burglary of a vehicle. He is currently on probation in Tennessee due to a suspended sentence exceeding eight years. Armstrong was arrested and charged with being a certain person forbidden to possess a firearm and obstructing justice by using a false identity.
