UP govt sets up panel to utilise unused land for industrial growth
The Uttar Pradesh government has set up a committee to devise a strategy for utilising vast tracts of land lying unused under Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway industrial development authorities (Yeida), said officials on Monday. At least four lakh hectares of land have been notified under the three authorities, but master plans cover only about 150,000 hectares, and just 40,000 hectares have actually been acquired. The move aims to expedite industrial growth, lure investment, and create jobs by making land availability smoother and more predictable for investors. Headed by additional chief secretary of the planning department, the six-member panel has been asked to submit its recommendations within 15 days. The CEO of Invest UP will serve as the member secretary. A UP government official said the committee will examine best practices adopted by industrial development authorities in other states. 'Committee will analyse notified, master plan, and acquired land data of Noida, Greater Noida, Yeida, and other bodies. Then prepare a strategy for identifying notified areas that currently remain trapped in a regulatory limbo.' Chief Secretary SP Goyal said, 'The move is in line with the state's larger industrial roadmap.' 'To expedite the industrial growth and attract larger investments, the Uttar Pradesh government is providing comprehensive support and incentives under the Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy, 2022, along with over 30 sector-specific policies,' said Goyal. Goyal added that a presentation made by Invest UP on August 5 highlighted the scale of the challenge. At least four lakh hectares of land have been notified under the three authorities, but master plans cover only about 150,000 hectares, and just 40,000 hectares have actually been acquired. Building maps are also not being approved, leaving such areas underdeveloped and deterring investment, said communication of the state government to industrial bodies. The chief secretary also underlined the hardships faced by landowners in notified regions. 'At the current pace of acquisition, it will take several years to cover the entire notified area. This risks leaving large stretches of land undeveloped for long. The landowners whose buildings predate notification face hardships in obtaining fresh no-objection certificates, even when their maps were already approved by local bodies earlier,' said Goyal.

Amausi industrial area is in for a major infra development
1 2 Lucknow: The Amausi industrial area is witnessing massive development, identified as a priority location for large-scale infrastructure upgrades with an investment of Rs 31 crore. The UP state industrial development authority (UPSIDA) is implementing the projects, which include the construction and upgradation of roads, drains, culverts and industrial entry gates. The area will see the development of worker and visitor-friendly amenities, including a Shramik Sewa Kendra to provide essential services for workers, a vending zone and truck lay-by areas for safe and organised parking of heavy vehicles. A cafeteria will be established to provide affordable meals and clean public toilets. To provide accommodation for workers, dormitories will be set up for house workers and staff. An official said that the main works in progress are the maintenance and upgrading of roads and footpaths, truck lay-byes, culverts and internal and external drainage, which will be made at a cost of Rs 12 crore. The construction of roads using FDR technology will involve an investment of Rs 6 crore. Additionally, the construction of an integrated command centre, police outpost and EV charging station will cost Rs 3.4 crore, while street furniture, signages and firefighting equipment will be provided at a cost of Rs 1.2 crore. Projects that are planned and will be executed shortly include horticulture and landscaping worth Rs 1.5 crore, interlocking tiles for road widening at a cost of Rs 2.2 crore, construction of a new drain at Rs 2.6 crore and the construction of a new entry gate with an investment of Rs 50 lakh. UPSIDA has also finalised the selection of a contractor for implementing annual maintenance and solid waste management work at the Amausi industrial area for Rs 1.26 crore. UPSIDA chief executive officer Mayur Maheshwari said, "In line with the industrial vision of the UP govt, UPSIDA is swiftly executing various civil infrastructure projects in Amausi industrial area. Our objective is to provide investors with a streamlined, accessible and modern industrial ecosystem, making UP a leader in 'ease of doing business'. The successful implementation of these projects will not only boost industrial activities but also create new avenues of employment and development at the local level. Seeds of change: Barabanki fish farmer achieves success through govt schemes
Lucknow: Till a few years ago, Aslam Khan (40), was into banana farming in Barabanki. Initially, he reaped rich dividends but then his business saw a downward trend. It was then that he decided to switch to fish farming with the help of schemes from the UP fisheries department. This proved to be his life-changing moment. Aslam credits his success to the double-engine govt that backed him through several welfare initiatives. Aslam of Bakrapur village in Barabanki, has now become an inspiration for the youth. A graduate, Aslam started banana production in 2014 on eight acres of ancestral land and continued in the business until 2016. Initially, Aslam earned well, but later he noticed a downward trend in his earnings and ultimately had to close his business, looking out for more opportunities. In his quest for a fresh beginning, Aslam had an opportunity to visit the fish farm of Mohammad Asif Siddiqui of Gangwara village in Barabanki. Intrigued by fish farming, Aslam began learning the trade and started with three ponds on 27,000 sq ft of land, raising Pangasius fish. The first produce from his farm earned Rs 8,40,000. Encouraged by this , in 2018 Aslam made another pond on a 1-acre land in which he kept Indian Major Carp fish along with Pangasius. At present, Aslam operates large-scale fish farming on eight acres with 24 ponds and two nurseries. This year, he stocked 3 lakh Pangasius fish seeds, of which 2.20 lakh have already yielded 162 tonnes of fish sold. Currently, Aslam's farm has 40,000 fish, each weighing 400-500 grams, ready for sale in Dec. Since Jan 2019, he has also been a dealer of ABIS supplementary fish feed, now supplying over 350 farmers across Barabanki, Lucknow, Sitapur, Unnao, Ayodhya, Bahraich and Gonda. In 2018, Aslam achieved first place in fish farming in Barabanki district. Today, he is providing direct employment to at least 10 people. "The handholding by the fisheries department has been commendable throughout his journey," he said. Director, Fisheries, UP, N S Rahmani said: "Through fish farming, young men and women are scripting new success stories that showcase the true strength of central and state govt schemes.
