Uttar Pradesh: CM Yogi orders FIR, action against officials in Thakurganj youth's death

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 13 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the death of a youth who fell into a drain in Lucknow's Thakurganj area on Saturday.
According to a release, acting swiftly, he ordered the suspension of the Junior Engineer, a notice to the Assistant Engineer, and Rs 9 lakh (Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and Rs 4 lakh from the Disaster Relief Fund) in financial aid for the victim's family. Sending a strong message, the CM said no negligence affecting public safety will be tolerated.
The Chief Minister further directed the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department to ensure full accountability in the Thakurganj accident case. He instructed a thorough investigation into the roles of the responsible officers and agencies.
He also ordered that an FIR be filed against the construction agency involved so that those guilty of negligence are properly punished.
He said this is not just an accident, but 'a serious administrative failure that must be corrected immediately.' The state government is taking the incident very seriously and will ensure that such unfortunate events do not happen again.
The Chief Minister has asked the Lucknow administration to provide all possible support to the victim's family without delay. He also stressed the need for 'strict, transparent, and time-bound action against those responsible.' He reiterated that the safety of citizens is the government's top priority, and negligence at any level will not be tolerated. (ANI)

Religious Channels Over Diplomatic Ones Kanthapuram's claim hinges on the influence of Yemen's religious clergy. According to his office, a delegation of Islamic scholars aligned with the powerful Hadhramaut-based cleric Habib Umar bin Hafiz played a key role in lobbying Houthi-led authorities in Northern Yemen. Nimisha claimed she acted in desperation, trying to escape back to India with her daughter. Earlier this month, her execution, which was scheduled for July 16, was postponed. Indian officials had attributed the delay to behind-the-scenes diplomatic intervention, particularly through humanitarian and consular channels. However, Kanthapuram's camp insists that religious diplomacy may have played a greater role. The next step is likely a series of delicate negotiations with the Mahdi family. On one hand are those who see her as a victim of exploitation and injustice, caught in a brutal system. On the other, particularly in online forums, many argue that justice must also consider the victim's family and that mercy should not override murder. Some social media users from Kerala even left messages on Arabic posts asking the Mahdi family not to accept diyya, urging them to 'stand firm'. No Retraction, Says Cleric's Office Addressing questions about the deleted tweet, Kanthapuram's aides clarified that there was no change in his position. 'The tweet disappeared because the original ANI post was deleted. But Kanthapuram Musliyar stands by his words. The execution has been halted. The sentence has been waived. What remains is the family's decision,' a senior aide told reporters. Awaiting Official Word Despite the hopeful tone of Kanthapuram's message, the Indian government has not issued any official confirmation. A spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs declined to comment on the cleric's claim but reiterated that India continues to pursue 'all appropriate diplomatic avenues' for the safe return of its citizens. CM: Prepare devpt blueprint as per public expectations
1 2 Prayagraj: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday discussed the flyover proposals in city with local representatives and asked them to prepare the blueprint of development as per the expectations of the public. After the Maha Kumbh, most public representatives of the city felt the need to expand development projects related to the traffic system in the city. City based representatives presented their views regarding the traffic scenario before the CM during the meet a circuit house and focussed on the need of flyovers and other projects. Proposals to build two new flyovers in the city were given by the City North MLA Harsh Vardhan Bajpai. The proposals included between Rana Pratap crossing and Public Service Commission crossing at Stanley Road and another between Medical College crossing and Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital. The estimated cost of both bridges is Rs 250 crore. City West MLA Siddharth Nath Singh also proposed a railway flyover near the High Court. Apart from the urban area, the CM also enquired about the development status from the representatives of rural areas and sought proposals to speed up development. MLA Vachaspati from Bara presented proposals for 14 works/projects at an estimated cost of Rs 104 crore. In this regard, the work of widening and strengthening the ongoing Nevdhiya Sampark Marg at an estimated cost of Rs 45.45 crore and the work of widening and strengthening Sadwa Sehra Mahi Marg at an estimated cost of Rs 36.18 crore were on priority. MLA Piyush Ranjan Nishad from Karchhana said the proposal for the construction of a flyover from Central Naini Jail to BPCL is a priority. Apart from this, a proposal has also been made to build a 100-bed hospital in Deha. MLA from Phulpur, Deepak Patel, gave the proposal of building another bridge parallel to Shastri Bridge in the Ganga.

CM Yogi prioritises development of Prayagraj, Vindhyachal regions
1 2 Prayagraj: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the govt was prioritising the development of the Prayagraj and Vindhyachal regions as they were key centres of UP's historical, cultural, and spiritual identity. "The revival and integrated development of the two regions will serve as a catalyst for the state's overall progress," he said while holding a meeting with public representatives of the Prayagraj and Vindhyachal divisions at the Circuit House on Tuesday. The CM directed the public works department to categorise and prioritise the proposals constituency-wise. He also asked the PWD to fast-track public representatives' proposals related to roads, bridges, road safety, black spots and charitable work. Yogi also directed quick action on priority proposals after survey and inspection, ensuring timely execution of the proposed works, and maintaining transparency and quality at every step. The CM also asked to prioritise single connectivity roads and complete pending works quickly with quality. The meeting focused on reviewing schemes, understanding regional challenges and aligning priorities with public expectations. CM interacted with each public representative to gain ground-level insights. The proposed works covered a wide range of infrastructure needs, including connectivity to block headquarters, interlinking roads, access routes to religious sites, logistics hubs, bypasses, ROBs/underpasses, flyovers, major and minor bridges, road safety upgrades, irrigation infrastructure and pontoon bridges. These projects aim to connect geographically challenging areas and stimulate local economic growth. He directed the urban development department to seek input from local public representatives before drafting any proposals. Yogi also instructed that the names of the concerned public representatives be displayed on stone plaques at the project sites. Additionally, the CM emphasised that priority proposals must be acted upon promptly so that bhoomi pujan and foundation stone-laying ceremonies can begin after Sep 15. The CM stressed that the experience and local understanding of public representatives serve as a valuable guide for the govt. Public representatives were urged to actively monitor the progress of proposed works in their respective areas and ensure that projects reflect local public sentiment. Addressing the representatives, the CM said their development proposals allow them to directly contribute to the shaping of key projects. While reviewing tourism-related proposals, he noted the significant progress made in Prayagraj and directed that similar quality-driven works be carried out in other regions. Under the Chief Minister Tourism Promotion Scheme, proposals submitted by public representatives should be prioritised to ensure basic facilities are developed at important tourist destinations, he said. On this occasion, cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta "Nandi", minister of state Sanjeev Gond, mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani, district panchayat chairman, Prayagraj, VK Singh, as well as MPs, MLAs and MLCs of Vindhyachal Mandal along with other public representatives and senior officials were present.
