Prayagraj: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the govt was prioritising the development of the Prayagraj and Vindhyachal regions as they were key centres of UP's historical, cultural, and spiritual identity.
"The revival and integrated development of the two regions will serve as a catalyst for the state's overall progress," he said while holding a meeting with public representatives of the Prayagraj and Vindhyachal divisions at the Circuit House on Tuesday.
The CM directed the public works department to categorise and prioritise the proposals constituency-wise. He also asked the PWD to fast-track public representatives' proposals related to roads, bridges, road safety, black spots and charitable work.
Yogi also directed quick action on priority proposals after survey and inspection, ensuring timely execution of the proposed works, and maintaining transparency and quality at every step.
The CM also asked to prioritise single connectivity roads and complete pending works quickly with quality. The meeting focused on reviewing schemes, understanding regional challenges and aligning priorities with public expectations.
CM interacted with each public representative to gain ground-level insights.
The proposed works covered a wide range of infrastructure needs, including connectivity to block headquarters, interlinking roads, access routes to religious sites, logistics hubs, bypasses, ROBs/underpasses, flyovers, major and minor bridges, road safety upgrades, irrigation infrastructure and pontoon bridges. These projects aim to connect geographically challenging areas and stimulate local economic growth.
He directed the urban development department to seek input from local public representatives before drafting any proposals. Yogi also instructed that the names of the concerned public representatives be displayed on stone plaques at the project sites. Additionally, the CM emphasised that priority proposals must be acted upon promptly so that bhoomi pujan and foundation stone-laying ceremonies can begin after Sep 15.
The CM stressed that the experience and local understanding of public representatives serve as a valuable guide for the govt. Public representatives were urged to actively monitor the progress of proposed works in their respective areas and ensure that projects reflect local public sentiment. Addressing the representatives, the CM said their development proposals allow them to directly contribute to the shaping of key projects.
While reviewing tourism-related proposals, he noted the significant progress made in Prayagraj and directed that similar quality-driven works be carried out in other regions.
Under the Chief Minister Tourism Promotion Scheme, proposals submitted by public representatives should be prioritised to ensure basic facilities are developed at important tourist destinations, he said.
On this occasion, cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta "Nandi", minister of state Sanjeev Gond, mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani, district panchayat chairman, Prayagraj, VK Singh, as well as MPs, MLAs and MLCs of Vindhyachal Mandal along with other public representatives and senior officials were present.

(HT photo) He was speaking at the BJP's organisational meeting held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan to discuss the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign and other organisational matters. Addressing the gathering, the CM said those who branded the saffron as a symbol of terror, thereby tarnishing the country's faith, now stand exposed before the public. He was referring to the special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court's acquittal of all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. On the occasion, Yogi also targeted Congress and opposition accusing them of spreading misinformation about 'Operation Sindoor'. 'The opposition is acting as a shield for anti-national forces,' he said. The CM also described the voter revision campaign as the foundation of democracy, emphasising that the task is not just an administrative process but also a political responsibility. He urged every BJP worker to ensure that no eligible voter is left out from their booths' voter list, saying adding young voters who have turned 18 is a sign of organisational maturity. On the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from August 13 to 15, CM Yogi asserted that the campaign and the mantra of 'Swadeshi Products in Every Hand' are crucial steps towards realising the vision of a self-reliant India. He called upon the workers to join the campaign by hoisting the Triranga at their homes, taking selfies, engaging people and promoting local crafts by adopting swadeshi products like ODOP. This, he said, is the most powerful way to economically strengthen India and give a strong response to those who try to blackmail the nation. The CM was referring to the trade tariff sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump on India. BJP state chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary said the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has become a powerful expression of national patriotism. 'This campaign aims to awaken every citizen's sense of pride, faith, and responsibility towards the nation,' he said. Chaudhary criticised the opposition for spreading lies and negativity while the BJP government worked tirelessly for public welfare. He urged BJP workers to engage wholeheartedly in the voter revision campaign, keeping in mind the upcoming elections. Also speaking on the occasion, deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya described the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign as a national revolution of patriotism. He said the campaign has become a powerful medium to connect every individual with reverence, faith, and self-pride towards the Triranga. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign is a national festival marking the spirit of patriotism. It's not just about hoisting flags but a medium to spread India's identity, unity and self-respect to every home, Pathak added. He emphasised that a BJP worker is not just a representative of the organisation but a carrier of the consciousness of nation-building. 'By taking the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign to every village and city, workers must ensure that the Tiranga, a symbol of India's honour and glory, is established in every citizen's heart and home,' Pathak said. The meeting was attended by senior BJP leaders, including state general secretary (organisation) Dharmpal Singh, national co-convenor of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign Rituraj Sinha and national convenor of the election contact campaign Om Pathak. Party's state general secretary Govind Narayan Shukla conducted the meeting.

‘Will invoke Gangster Act, National Security Act,' UP CM Yogi Adityanath warns against unauthorised use of drones

Amid reports of drone sightings leading to chaos and panic in different parts of the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Sunday warned that the administration will invoke the Gangster Act and the National Security Act against unauthorised use of drones. 'There is a complete ban on drone operation without permission, and thus, strict action will be taken against the offenders,' said a senior government officer. He further said, 'The chief minister has said that attempts to spread rumours or create fear will not be tolerated.' Officials also said that CM Adityanath has given instructions to the chief secretary and the director general of police to review drone activities. 'Directives have also been given to soon bring in drone monitoring systems and strict surveillance in the state. Further, instructions have been given to ensure regular patrolling in districts for security and to instil confidence among the public. The government will deal strictly with those misusing technology as there can be no tolerance for disrupting law and order,' added a senior officer.

Corruption, nepotism in UP Police recruitment before 2017 weakened law and order: Adityanath

'Before 2017, recruitment processes were riddled with irregularities, nepotism, money exchanged hands, bias ruled selections, and the future of the youth was thrown into darkness. This led to an increase in riots, lawlessness, hooliganism, terrorism, and a general atmosphere of insecurity in the state,' the chief minister stated. Adityanath made the statement while addressing a gathering at an appointment letter distribution event for 1,494 newly-selected assistant operators in the Uttar Pradesh Police Telecom Department at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. Lucknow, Aug 3 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday claimed that police recruitments in the state before 2017 were marred by corruption and nepotism, which directly impacted the state's law and order situation. 'Sometimes, there were attacks in the courts of Ayodhya, Kashi and Lucknow, and sometimes, there were terrorist attacks. During this period, the CRPF camp in Rampur was also targeted,' he added. Emphasising the 'double-engine government', formed in 2017 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Adityanath mentioned that significant steps were taken to ensure transparent and fair recruitment processes. 'The Police Recruitment Board was strengthened, and as a result, Uttar Pradesh now tops the country in police recruitments and government jobs,' Adityanath claimed, adding that so far, 8.5 lakh youth have been given government jobs, the highest in the country. Highlighting the recruitment reforms, Adityanath pointed out that over 2.17 lakh personnel have been recruited into the police force since 2017. 'These figures are not just numbers; they signify a renewed identity, security, and public trust,' he remarked. The chief minister also noted significant infrastructure developments in police lines and headquarters across districts, mentioning that barracks are now often the tallest structures in those areas. Seven new police commissionerates have been established, and women now have a 20 per cent reservation in police recruitment, he informed. Adityanath further praised the role of the police telecom department during the Mahakumbh and noted the provision of a 20 per cent reservation for Agniveers in police recruitment. 'In a state with 25 crore people, the role of telecom police is crucial. As India moves towards becoming the third-largest economy, the police must balance sensitivity with strictness,' he concluded. Among the 1494 recruits, there are 1,374 assistant operators and 120 workshop staff, according to an official statement. This development follows the recruitment of 60,244 constables earlier this year. PTI ABN ABN MPL MPL This report is auto-generated from PTI news service.
