Ground Zero Box Office Collection Day 8: Emraan Hashmi's Film Sees A Dip

NDTV03-05-2025

New Delhi:
Ground Zero witnessed a dip in box office collections on Day 8. On May 2, the Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar directorial earned ₹4 lakh through ticket sales, according to a report by Sacnilk.
So far, the action thriller has collected a total of ₹7.38 crore in the domestic market. Headlined by Emraan Hashmi, Ground Zero 's worldwide collection stands at ₹7.95 crore, the report added.
Ground Zero tells the heroic story of BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, who led a daring operation in 2003 against terrorist Rana Tahir Nadeem, better known as Ghazi Baba – the mastermind behind the 2001 Parliament attack. Ghazi Baba was eventually killed in the same year.
In the film, Emraan Hashmi steps into the shoes of Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey. A few days ago, during an interview with NDTV, Emraan spoke about the challenges he faced while portraying a real-life hero.
To this, the actor said, 'The most difficult part was the emotional and psychological state of the officer; That too back in an era when Kashmir was seeing its most turbulent time; when there was rampant insurgency, 70 jawans were killed at a point blank range by the terrorists. There was fear, uncertainty and you have to play that with conviction and take yourself back to the moment.'
Ground Zero also features Sai Tamhankar, Zoya Hussain, Mukesh Tiwari, Deepak Parmesh, Lalit Prabhakar and Rockey Raina in key roles.
NDTV gave Ground Zero 3 out of 5 stars. An excerpt from the review read, 'The screenplay, penned by Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshee Srivastava, effectively crafts a narrative that balances the tension of a manhunt with the broader, more contemplative themes of duty, loyalty, and moral ambiguity.'

Housefull 5 Box Office Collection Day 5: Akshay Kumar-Abhishek Bachchan starrer shows dip on Monday, reaches 100 crore club, earns…

Housefull 5, featuring a stellar cast including Akshay Kumar, Sonam Bajwa, Jacqueline Fernandez, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, and Nargis Fakhri, has been released in cinemas with two different endings titled 'Housefull 5A' and 'Housefull 5B'. This unique concept has garnered a positive reaction from audiences. Viewers are excited to learn how both versions of the film conclude. The movie has still managed to hold its strong momentum and has now reached the 100 crore club league. Housefull 5 Passes Its First Monday Test The comedy-thriller continues to perform well at the box office, even as the buzz from the weekend begins to fade. As per the trade website Sacnilk, on its fourth day, Monday, Housefull 5 earned Rs 13 crore . Given that weekdays typically see a decline, this drop was anticipated, yet the film managed to maintain its performance. The biggest day for the film to date was recorded on Sunday, with collections soaring to Rs 32.5 crore , marking its peak single-day revenue so far. With these figures, Housefull 5 has surpassed the Rs 100-crore milestone , achieving a total of Rs 100.5 crore within just four days. On Monday, Housefull 5 achieved a Hindi occupancy rate of 17.62 percent, indicating a solid performance for a weekday. With this achievement, Housefull 5 has now surpassed the India net earnings of Akshay Kumar's period-drama film, Kesari Chapter 2 , which grossed Rs 92.53 crore. The focus now shifts to whether it can exceed the Rs 149-crore benchmark established by his aerial-action-thriller Sky Force . 100 Crore Club But Moving Towards Tag of Flop As per reports by Pinkvilla, Housefull 5 was made on a gigantic budget of Rs 240 crore , which means that the film is still far away from its target to achieve the tag of industry hit or blockbuster. As per all the estimates, the fifth installment still needs to rake in Rs 139.5 crore to surpass its total budget cost otherwise, it will become a flop despite reaching 100 crore. However, it is going to be a crucial point for this comedy thriller as the next big release is Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par , which is yet another highly anticipated film of this year.

Thug Life box office collection day 5: Kamal Haasan's big-budget flop nosedives on Monday, earns just one-fourth of Housefull 5

Thug Life box office collection day 5: Notwithstanding the sky-high expectations surrounding its release, particularly since it marked the long-awaited reunion of director Mani Ratnam and actor Kamal Haasan nearly four decades after Nayakan (1987), the gangster drama Thug Life is tanking at the box office, owing to poor responses from all quarters. On its first Monday in theatres, the film managed to earn just about a quarter of the critically panned Housefull 5, which was released on the same weekend. On Monday, Thug Life recorded a meagre India nett collection of Rs 3.62 crore, bringing its overall domestic earnings to Rs 40.52 crore, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk. While the Tamil version contributed Rs 3.25 crore, the Telugu and Hindi versions added just Rs 29 lakh and Rs 8 lakh, respectively. In stark contrast, director Tarun Mansukhani's Housefull 5, starring Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez and Sanjay Dutt, among others, earned Rs 13.76 crore the same day, despite overwhelmingly negative reviews. Thug Life's total worldwide gross now stands at Rs 75 crore. On Monday, Thug Life saw an overall occupancy of just 18.05 per cent in the Tamil market. While the morning shows began with 14.11 per cent, the rate fluctuated throughout the day with afternoon, evening and night screenings recording 19.53 per cent, 17.99 per cent and 20.57 per cent occupancy, respectively. According to the latest figures, Thug Life is faring extremely poorly compared to Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's recent films. While Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, earned Rs 15.8 crore domestically on its first Monday after opening at Rs 32.05 crore, Kamal and Shankar's colossal misfire Indian 2, which debuted at Rs 25.6 crore, managed Rs 3 crore on its first Monday. Considering this, Thug Life is showing all signs of becoming as big a box office disaster as Indian 2 was. In the case of recent Mani Ratnam films, while Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 (2022) registered a first Monday nett collection of Rs 19.05 crore after opening at Rs 34 crore, Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 (2023) had earned Rs 23.25 crore on its first Monday, following a debut of Rs 24 crore. In fact, Thug Life's first Monday collection trails significantly behind Adhik Ravichandran's Ajith Kumar-starrer Good Bad Ugly (Rs 15 crore) and Ashwath Marimuthu's Pradeep Ranganathan-led Dragon (Rs 5.8 crore), which currently stand as the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2025, with global grosses of Rs 246.15 crore and Rs 150.52 crore, respectively. Meanwhile, rumours are also rife that Thug Life might premiere on OTT much earlier than the originally planned date. Although Kamal Haasan had stated prior to release that the film would maintain an eight-week window between theatrical and streaming debuts, reports now indicate it may arrive on OTT after just four weeks, since the movie is underperforming. According to M9 News, trade experts believe that the OTT release of the movie could be preponed, with the film's official streaming partner Netflix likely to stream the film sooner than expected. Also starring Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Abhirami in key roles, Thug Life features music by Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi K Chandran and editing by A Sreekar Prasad. The film was jointly bankrolled by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies.
