Carey Mulligan Eyed to Star in Greta Gerwig's "Narnia"

Carey Mulligan is in negotiations to star in Greta Gerwig's 'Chronicles of Narnia' adaptation at Netflix.
If the deal closes, Mulligan will join the previously announced cast of Daniel Craig, Meryl Streep and Emma Mackey.
In her much-anticipated 'Barbie' follow-up, Gerwig is writing and directing the fantasy adventure, which follows 'The Magician's Nephew' — the sixth novel in the series by author C.S. Lewis.
The story serves as a prequel to 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and centers on the creation of Narnia by Aslan the lion (voiced by Streep). Two children, Digory and Polly, are the first to discover the 'Wood between the Worlds' after an uncle (Craig) gives the two friends a magical ring.
Mackey is playing the Jadis, also known as the White Witch, the antagonist of the series, while Mulligan is expected to portray Digory's ill mother.
The film's young leads have yet to be cast.
Netflix acquired rights to the 'Narnia' book series in 2018 and announced plans to develop new films and television shows around the fantastical world.
The multi-year deal marked the first time that rights to all seven novels were held by the same company. Three prior films, 2005's 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,' 2008's 'Prince Caspian' and 2010's 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' were adapted at 20th Century and Disney.
Gerwig's untitled 'Narnia' film is expected to open in Imax around Thanksgiving Day 2026.
The movie will screen worldwide exclusively on the company's premium large format screens for two weeks in advance of its Netflix debut around Christmas.
Mulligan has three Oscar nominations for her performances in Emerald Fennell's 'Promising Young Woman,' Bradley Cooper's Leonard Bernstein biopic 'Maestro,' and the coming-of-age drama 'An Education.'

"Faat El Maad" Unveils Posters and Teaser
Yara Sameh The official posters and teaser for Egyptian stars Asma Abulyazeid and Ahmed Magdy's TV series "Faat El Maad" have been unveiled. The drama consists of 30 episodes and marks the second collaboration between the pair after the 2019 TV series "El Anesa Farah". "Faat El Maad" also stars Mahmoud El-Bezzawy, Salwa Mohamed Ali,Mohamed Ali Rizk, Ahmed Safwat, Hager Afifi, Mohamed Abu Dawood, Walaa El Sherif, and more. Saad Hendawy directed the series from a script by Atef Nashed, Islam Adham, and Nasser Abdel Hamid. Square Media is the studio behind the drama. "Faat El Maad" recently wrapped filming and is set to premiere soon during the off-season on the DMC and DMC TV Channels. Abulyazeid, born on July 10, 1990, has liked acting since young, but could not act in her school because there was no school theater, something that became available in college where she studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts. She participated in a large number of theatrical performances that were displayed at the Hanager Theater and competed for the Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi Award for Best Theater Show in 2016. In 2017, Abulyazeid drew attention through her performance as Toka in the TV series "Hadha Almasa" (This Evening). Her TV credits also include "Al Nas" (2024), "Touba" (2022), "Al Ekhteyar 2: Regal El Zel" (2021), Hogan" (2019), "Zodiac" (2019), "Layali Eugenie" (2018), and "'Ana shahira ... 'ana alkhayin" (2017). Abulyazeid is also known for her roles in films such as "El Daawa Ammah" (2022), "Laylat Amar 14"(2022), "Mousa" (2021), "30 March" (2021), "El Kowayeseen" (2018), and "Hadha almasa'" (2017). Etyen Releases Second Album ‘My Goddess' on Thawra Records
Etyen drops a deeply personal LP reflecting love and loss, composed in the midst of Lebanon's political and economic turmoil. Jun 02, 2025 Lebanese producer Etyen has just released his second album, 'My Goddess', through his Beirut-based independent label Thawra Records. Released both digitally and on vinyl, the nine-track project is a deeply emotional, sonically expansive portrait of heartbreak, reflection, and survival. Written during Lebanon's ongoing political and economic turmoil, the album captures the dual weight of personal grief and collective trauma. 'It's about learning to let go, even when everything feels like it's slipping through your hands,' Etyen tells SceneNoise. The record is charged with layered textures, shifting from fragility to resilience, reflecting the artist's own emotional turbulence. Amongst the inspirations behind the album is the loss of his cat Lucy, a symbolic presence that threads through the record's narrative of mourning and rebirth. Etyen has spent over a decade crafting a distinct voice in electronic music. His work spans Netflix original soundtracks ('Jinn'), international festivals like Sonar Barcelona and MUTEK, and editorial nods from Bandcamp Daily, BBC Radio 6, and FBi Radio.
