Celtics Shut Down Trade Talk Around Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, And Derrick White

Yahoo14 hours ago

The Boston Celtics have reportedly shut down all trade discussions involving Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White, signaling their intent to maintain the core of their franchise despite a disappointing playoff exit and looming injury concerns. According to NBA insider Brett Siegel:
'Neither Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown are on their way out of Boston… League sources are insistent the Celtics have given zero indications that parting ways with Derrick White this summer is a possibility.'

This stance ends speculation that the franchise could initiate a major roster overhaul following their second-round loss to the New York Knicks.
The speculation intensified after news broke that Jayson Tatum may miss the entire 2025-26 season due to an Achilles injury, a catastrophic blow to any contender's title hopes.
In the aftermath, even respected voices like Bill Simmons floated the possibility of a fire sale, suggesting blockbuster trades like sending Jaylen Brown and Jrue Holiday to the Houston Rockets.
Other rumors linked Brown to the Brooklyn Nets in a stunning scenario, while Kristaps Porzingis reportedly drew interest from the Los Angeles Lakers.

Meanwhile, Derrick White emerged as a coveted target for teams like the Golden State Warriors, who sought to add perimeter defense and two-way versatility.
However, Boston's firm stance on keeping Tatum, Brown, and White indicates a different direction, one of stability amid adversity. The Celtics appear determined to avoid panic moves and instead rely on their core to remain competitive. This decision underscores their confidence in the foundation they've built and perhaps their belief that the window for a title isn't fully closed, even with Tatum's uncertain timeline.
That said, with three of their five core players now effectively off the trade market, the attention turns to Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. Holiday, who has voiced his desire to return to Boston, may be the odd man out given his contract and the team's desire to manage an impending $500 million payroll.
Porzingis, too, could be moved to avoid crossing the second tax apron, especially with growing interest from teams in need of a stretch big with rim protection capabilities.

While teams like the Warriors were hopeful that a fire sale could give them a shot at acquiring Derrick White, Boston's message is clear: White is part of their long-term vision. His ability to defend at an elite level, initiate offense when needed, and complement stars without demanding high usage makes him a rare and valuable asset in today's NBA.
Ultimately, the Celtics' decision to shut down trade talk around Tatum, Brown, and White signals that while the team may need to make tough financial decisions, they are not ready to blow it up. Instead, Boston seems poised to retool around its stars, not rebuild. That may leave players like Holiday and Porzingis on the move, but the Celtics' core, at least for now remains intact.

Rudy Gobert Shares Cryptic Three-Word Message About His Timberwolves Future

Rudy Gobert Shares Cryptic Three-Word Message About His Timberwolves Future originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Minnesota Timberwolves were close to reaching the NBA Finals for their second-straight season, only to fall to the top team in the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Advertisement Due to another failed attempt, offseason moves seem likely, despite how much some fans might want to see the team's core players remain in place for a championship push. Last season saw the addition of Julius Randle via trade to the starting lineup, replacing Karl Anthony-Towns after many seasons. Randle played a key role as the former All-Star slid right into the frontcourt alongside big man Rudy Gobert. Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert (27).Bruce Kluckhohn-Imagn Images Gobert, a four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, spent nine seasons with the Utah Jazz before coming to Minnesota. He appeared in 72 games in the past season, averaging 12 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game. Advertisement In the team's Game 5 against the Thunder, he finished with just a field goal and five boards in 19 minutes on the hardwood. The game was a 30-point blowout, and his numbers weren't the inspiring sort of performance necessary to help stave off elimination. On Friday, he shared a message with fans amid his uncertain future with the Timberwolves. "To be continued...," was all Gobert wrote in his X message, which also included a photo of him huddled with teammates on the court and praying hands, wolf, and championship trophy emojis. As mentioned, the team could make significant changes to the roster. There's ongoing Kevin Durant trade talks, with a deal expected near the NBA Draft. The Timberwolves are among the select teams that could pull off a big deal for KD. Advertisement As trade rumors swirl, ESPN's Dave McMenamin speculated that a deal could include Gobert going to the Phoenix Suns to make salaries work. The team's other option is Randle, who they would probably prefer to keep with Durant and Anthony Edwards. Last year, ESPN's NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Gobert declined his $46.6 million player option and signed a contract extension to remain with the Timberwolves through the 2027-28 season. His recent message could suggest he believes he'll be a part of the team next season. However, adding a superstar of Durant's caliber would unite KD with Ant-Man, giving the team two of the league's best scorers, capable of taking over games. Fans probably wouldn't mind seeing that duo contending with the rest of the league's best. Gobert will likely learn what his future is with Minnesota in the next several weeks, as the team decides upon the best personnel to further contend for a championship. 'At AutoZone and O'Reilly's This Is Like $40:' Man Says You Should Buy Your Motor Oil at Walmart. Then He Shows Why

A Walmart shopper was astounded by the cost of oil products at the ubiquitous retailer. Giant (@thegiantant) recorded his shock at seeing how much more competitively priced its offerings were compared to other stores. In a video that's accrued nearly 25,000 views as of this writing, he revealed his disbelief. So is he onto something? In the video, Giant records himself in the automotive section of a Walmart. As he records various bottles of motor oil , he expresses disbelief over the prices. 'Yo I didn't know if this is true or not, but look. At Walmart, this [expletive] like $5 bro.' While saying this, he punches into the price tag of a red quart-sized bottle of Ford Motorcraft oil. The sticker indicates it sells for $5.82. He says the prices of other brands are low as well. Next, he walks over to a separate shelf that displays larger containers of oil. A 1.25 gallon container of Ford Motorcraft SAE 5W-30 oil retails for $25.87. 'That's insane bro. At like AutoZone and O'Reilly this [expletive] like forty bucks, bro,' Giant says. 'Maybe like $35. But like, oil at Walmart is like just a cheat code, bro. Like, it's insane.' Both O'Reilly's and AutoZone's websites state that they sell 1.25 gallon containers of Ford Motorcraft SAE 5W-30 oil for $35.99—more than $10 more than Walmart. Changing Your Own Oil Trending Now This Woman Is Fighting For Your Right To Honk Your Horn There's a Legit Ford GT40 For Sale On Bring a Trailer Right Now Maintenance costs for vehicles vary greatly, depending on the make and model of the car. When it comes to an oil change, the price is affected by whether you choose conventional, synthetic blend, or full synthetic oil. And if your car has a bigger engine, you're going to need more oil, which can also jack up the cost. The price charged by a mechanic or dealer can also vary widely. For instance, if you bring a Porsche 911 into an authorized service center, expect to pay an eye-watering $532-$565, according to RepairPal. Thankfully, most oil changes cost significantly less. Bankrate reports that the average cost of an oil change ranges anywhere from $35-$75 for conventional fluid. If you're opting for synthetic oil, however, that charge jumps up to $65-$125. To avoid these costs, people like Giant change it themselves. You'll have to buy the tools upfront, but these will pay for themselves with the money you save after a few oil changes. However, if changing oil yourself isn't a viable solution, there's still a way to save money on oil changes. Some service centers allow you to bring your own oil. Money Genius writes that the cheapest place to buy oil is Costco. The retailer purportedly sells two 1.25-gallon jugs of its Kirkland Full Synthetic 5W30 oil for $49.99, or roughly $25 apiece, just a few cents less than the Walmart product in Giant's clip. Money Genius notes that Walmart also offers low-cost oil and says Amazon is another place you can find oil on the cheap. Walmart motor oil: A Well-Kept Secret or Common Knowledge? While Giant was obviously surprised by how cheap oil is at Walmart, it's not exactly a state secret. As one person put it: 'I ain't goin lie bro you so late.' Another person questioned why anyone would buy oil at an auto supply store. 'Who the hell buys oil at auto parts stores?' 'Wait till you get a load of Costco oil,' a third wrote. Motor1 has reached out to Walmart via email and Giant via TikTok comment for further information. We'll update this article if either party gets back to us.
