Dole for jobless will be given this year: Minister Lokesh
VIJAYAWADA: Minister for HRD and IT and TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh has announced that the unemployment allowance to youth will be extended this year itself.
Addressing the TDP rank and file of Machilipatnam constituency as part of his visit to Krishna district on Wednesday, Lokesh said recruitment of more than 16,000 teachers through Mega DSC is going on.
'We are also attracting investments, and establishing industries to generate employment on a large scale. We will commence the payment of unemployment allowance this year,' Lokesh said.
In a big push to reach out to the TDP rank and file, Lokesh said, 'From now onwards, party chief Chandrababu Naidu, and I will talk to 5 activists everyday, and take feedback on the implementation of government programmes, and internal issues of the party. 'Some problems are arising due to the communication gap. No activist who works hard for the party, will be ignored. Their services will be duly recognised,' he said.
The achievements of the coalition government should be taken to every household by party activists from July 2 as part of 'Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu' programme, he said.
Lokesh urged the TDP rank and file to give up arrogance, and be polite, and available to the people always to resolve their issues.

Closed since 2021, British era school in Nellore to reopen on July 6
Tirupati: IT and HRD minister Nara Lokesh will re-open the famous British era VR school in Nellore on July 6. The 150-year-old school was shut down in 2021 during the erstwhile YSRCP regime. Municipal administration minister Ponguru Narayana, who studied at the school and also started his teaching career from the same institution, vowed to revive it if NDA formed the govt in Andhra Pradesh. The minister kept his promise and put all efforts to revive the school after NDA won and formed the govt. With Nagarjuna Construction Company extending a financial assistance of Rs 15 crore under its CSR activities, the school campus has undergone a complete revamp in the last few months. With international standard classroom infrastructure and amenities in place, VR school opened for admissions recently and close to 1,000 students from economically underprivileged sections of the society were provided admissions for this academic year. Narayana said Lokesh will formally re-open the school on July 6.

Municipal engineering workers' protest for wage hike enters fourth day
The indefinite strike by the municipal engineering employees working in various departments entered fourth day on June 28. The employees are demanding a wage hike and implementation of welfare schemes. Municipal engineering workers engaged in parks, town planning, street lighting, and computer operators and vehicle depot mechanics participated in the strike, organised by the Municipal Corporation Workers and Employees Union, affiliated to Centre of Indian Trade Unions(CITU), at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada on June 28 (Saturday). Addressing the protesting workers, CPI (M) leader Ch. Babu Rao criticised the TDP-led NDA government in the State for failing to address the concerns of municipal workers. 'The prices of essential goods, electricity charges and taxes are increasing, but wages for these employees remains the same,' Mr. Babu Rao said. He demanded to know how many times the salaries of MLAs and Ministers were increased. 'Everyone wants drinking water, street lights and likes to see the greenery enhanced in parks. But the government does not care about those who ensure that these facilities are being provided,' Mr. Babu Rao said, adding that to the government, the plants in the park seem to be more important than the lives of these workers who take care of them. The protesting employees also alleged that many government welfare schemes remained elusive to them. They are not eligible for schemes such as Thalliki Vandanam, social pension, pension for differently abled, they said while adding that they do not have exemption from electricity charges too. The Union president Donepudi Kasinath said that the government should follow Government Order 36, issued during the previous regime, and increase the employees' honorarium to anywhere between ₹21,000 and ₹24,000 per month.

YSRCP's allegations are baseless: TDP
TDP Anantapur district president Venkatasivudu Yadav on Saturday (June 28) said YSRCP leaders are levelling baseless allegations against the NDA government because they are unable to digest the fact that poll promises are being fulfilled. Speaking to media persons here, Mr. Venkatasivudu Yadav said the YSRCP leaders are trying to divert the attention of the people from the scams and scandals of the previous government that are coming to light in the past one year. 'The YSRCP leaders should stop their propaganda against the government,' he said. Listing the various welfare programmes by the government, he said the government is extending 'Talliki Vandanam' to every child of the eligible beneficiary families and will implement the 'Annadata Sukhibhava' from July. He said the government increased the social security pensions and had also issued DSC notification to fill 16,347 vacancies. 'The government will soon launch the free bus ride to women scheme also,' he said. Mr. Venkatasivudu said the government repaired 20,000 km of roads at ₹1,200 crore since coming to power with an aim to make the State pothole free. On the development front, the government brought ₹4.95 lakh crore investments to the State, providing jobs to 4.50 lakh people.
