Keegan Bradley seized the spotlight on Sunday by clinching a dramatic one-shot win at the Travelers Championship, snatching victory from England's Tommy Fleetwood.

With the crowd roaring "U-S-A," Bradley birdied the final hole at TPC River Highlands, pushing himself to seventh in the world rankings and ninth in the U.S. Ryder Cup points list. Fleetwood, still chasing his first PGA Tour win, had a late stumble, including a costly three-putt on the 18th that let Bradley capitalize in front of a hyped home crowd.
Now, all eyes shift to the Ryder Cup, set for September 25-28 at Bethpage Black in New York. The top six Americans in the standings automatically qualify, with the remaining six players picked by the team captain, which just happens to be Bradley himself.

That win has suddenly sparked talk about him possibly becoming the first playing captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963.

'This definitely changes things,' Bradley said after the win. "Every year my goal is to make the Ryder Cup team. And then, you know, this would be the year where I was like, you know what, I'm excited to just be the captain."
He emphasized he wouldn't give up the captaincy: 'I've put a lot of work into this. I've got great assistants Jim Furyk, Sneds, Kiz, Webb. We talk every day. They can step in when I'm not there.'
Bradley admitted the PGA of America wanted him to consider the dual role when they first reached out. 'They told me, 'We want you to be the first playing captain since Palmer.' My head was spinning,' he added.
He also explained how golf provides escape from the nonstop Ryder Cup chatter. 'Inside the ropes is where I find peace. Outside, it's 24/7 Ryder Cup.'

Next up? The Rocket Classic tees off Thursday at Detroit Golf Club and with Bradley's game heating up, don't be surprised if he steals more headlines.

Ryan Helsley Among Four Cardinals Pitchers That Could be Traded
Ryan Helsley Among Four Cardinals Pitchers That Could be Traded originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With the MLB trade deadline nearing, pitchers will be a hot commodity for teams looking to improve their postseason chances. The St. Louis Cardinals have an abundance of hurlers that could be dealt. Advertisement ESPN's Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan recently ranked the top 50 trade deadline candidates around the league. Closer Ryan Helsley was among four St. Louis Cardinals pitchers that could be traded by the July 31 deadline. Helsley was ranked No. 23 on their list, with a 30% chance of being shipped. The best fits are the Dodgers, Phillies, Yankees, Tigers, and Diamondbacks – who the Cardinals could see by their side in the wild card standings as the season continues. His 1.444 WHIP is one of the worst of the Cardinals bullpen, and the worst of his career. As mentioned in the article, hitters have caught up to Helsley's notorious fastball, which he relies on more than any other pitch. Helsley is on contract through the end of this season. With a down year from last year's Trevor Hoffman Award-winning season, it may be time for the club to part ways with their long-time closer. St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Ryan Helsley (56) throws a pitch during the ninth inning against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Blaze-Imagn Images An in-house guy who could move into Helsley's role could be Phil Maton, who has been the most reliable Cardinals reliver to this point. Maton is also listed as a trade candidate in the article, with his $2M contract up after this season. He is sure to be sought after by many contenders, though that includes the Cardinals themselves. Advertisement Erick Fedde was ranked No. 30 on the list. After being picked up by the Cardinals at last year's deadline, he is seen to have a 50% chance of being traded again. "Fedde's strikeout and walk numbers have regressed from his breakout 2024 season (after coming back from a stint in the KBO League), but he's allowing less damage on batted balls to keep himself in the rotation." McDaniel and Passan wrote. With it likely he may walk away in free agency after this season, it may be right to find a replacement for the veteran arm. Steven Matz is the final name on the list. After transitioning from the rotation, he has found more success in his command, limiting his walk rate to a career-best 1.3 per nine innings. He'd be a great fit for a team looking to make a run, but some concern of injury could still linger among the heads of other GMs. The story mentions St. Louis as a fit for pitchers Freddy Peralta, Merrill Kelly, and Reid Detmers. As a team that stands well over .500, the Cardinals could be seen as buyers at the trade deadline, which would limit who is to be dealt. Cubs Predicted to Land Young Team USA Ace With Electric Fastball
Cubs Predicted to Land Young Team USA Ace With Electric Fastball originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Cubs would love to add more talent, and holding the 17th overall pick in the 2025 MLB draft, will look to do just that. Advertisement There are many ways the Cubs could go in the draft, but Just Baseball recently linked them to an intriguing option in the form of Tyler Bremner, a right-handed pitcher out of UC Santa Barbara. UC Santa Barbara, one of the more underrated college programs in the country, arguably had the best starter in the nation this past season. Bremner dealt with some struggles, throwing in 14 games and 77.1 innings. He struck out 111 hitters and posted a 3.49 ERA. 'Bremner's late-season resurgence may mean he goes higher than this, but the Cubs miss out on Steele Hall in this scenario. They love athletic upside, which makes Daniel Pierce a legitimate possibility. Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer speaks before introducing Craig Counsell as new Cubs manager during a press conference in Chicago. Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images 'However, Bremner is a potentially high-floor starter with a 70 change and a solid heater. If the Cubs can rework his slider, there's a chance he can return to 2024 form,' they wrote. Advertisement Entering the year, many believed that Bremner was the top prospect in the game. His fastball can run up to 98 mph, and according to his changeup is a 65 grade pitch. However, Bremner doesn't have much outside of those two pitches, as his slider didn't show much effectiveness during his final season at UCSB. He had trouble locating his slider in college, and that's a significant issue for a young starter. A college national team Alum, Bremner should go in the first round, and perhaps even higher than the Cubs' pick if things go in his favor. Dolphins' Tyreek Hills Trolls Noah Lyles In Latest Social Media Post
Dolphins' Tyreek Hills Trolls Noah Lyles In Latest Social Media Post originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Miami Dolphins have watched their superstar wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, call out Olympic athlete Noah Lyles multiple times over the past year. Things have ramped up even more after Lyles announced he was backing out of the scheduled race against Hill, adding more fuel to the fire for Hill to play with. Advertisement Immediately after the news broke that Lyles was backing out, Hill called Lyles out. But, less than one day later, Hill isn't done throwing shade at Lyles. In a new post on Twitter/X, Hill posted a photo with two dogs sitting in cars, one labeled "Me (Hill)" and another labeled "Noah." The implication is clear, Hill is watching Lyles intently, while insinuating that Lyles is staring straight ahead, or avoiding confronting Hill. Lyles backed out of their scheduled race, and based on Hills recent posts, Lyles didn't back out after telling Hill. This post from Hill comes on the back of a post calling Lyles out around 24 hours prior for the same thing. Hill didn't hold back, and hasn't held back, in his posts calling out Lyles for the past year. He's continued to troll Lyles, and his latest post is another jab at the Olympic athlete. Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (10) on the field before the game against the New York Jets at MetLife Carchietta-Imagn Images Part of what started Hill off on this train of calling out Lyles was Lyles deciding to back out of their scheduled race. But, it also came after Hill impressed in a 100 meter run, where he set a remarkable time of 10.15 seconds. Advertisement At the end of his impressive race, he called out Lyles, holding up a sign that read "Noah could never." The Dolphins All-Pro is heading into a very important 2025 season, and is evidently, in great shape. Being able to run at such a high speed is an indicator he's feeling good. While his consistent call-outs of Lyles may be a distraction, it's led Hill to showcase incredible speed.
