The meeting comes weeks after the two leaders shared the stage at a joint rally on July 5, marking a rare moment of public unity. At the 'Awaz Marathicha' rally held at Worli Dome in Mumbai, the Thackeray cousins had embraced on stage after the Maharashtra government rolled back two Government Resolutions (GRs) proposing the inclusion of Hindi as a third language in schools.
Addressing the crowd at the rally, Uddhav Thackeray had said, 'We have come together to stay together.'
Sunday also marked Uddhav Thackeray's 65th birthday, drawing greetings from INDIA bloc allies.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi wrote on X, 'Heartfelt birthday wishes and congratulations to Shiv Sena President and INDIA alliance partner Uddhav Thackeray ji. May you stay healthy, live long, and together we will fight for the interests and rights of the people of Maharashtra.'

When Raj visited in 2012
The Uddhav-Raj emotional reunion at Lilavati Hospital in 2012 marked a watershed moment in the zig-zag trajectory of the Thackeray dynasty, political observers had said at the time, according to a
TOI article.
MNS chief Raj Thackeray had rushed from Alibaug—where he was scheduled to preside over an MNS workshop for corporators—to be by the side of Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, who was undergoing angioplasty at the suburban hospital.
Later that evening, Raj had driven Uddhav home in his Mercedes and entered Balasaheb Thackeray's Bandra residence, Matoshree.
He reportedly spent nearly 30 minutes inside, marking his first visit since the family's internal rift.
'The two cousins met like brothers in the true Thackeray spirit,' a close relative who was present at the hospital had said.
Uddhav's wife Rashmi, Raj's wife Sharmila, and Raj's mother Kunda—who is also Uddhav's maternal aunt—were present in the VIP suite.
The scene had briefly blurred the political divide in the Thackeray clan and presented a picture of family bonding.
Raj had earlier walked out of Matoshree in December 2005, upset over Uddhav's rising influence in the party.
Just three months later, he launched the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and addressed his first public meeting at Shivaji Park, the same venue from where Balasaheb Thackeray had launched the Sena in 1966.

The ex-corporators, Prema Mhatre, Pramila Patil, and Shailaja Bhoir, belonged to Shiv Sena (UBT) and other parties. Along with them, several members of the opposition parties from rural Kalyan joined the Shiv Sena. 'The Mahayuti government had removed speed breakers placed by the previous regime and provided Rs 45,000 crore in farmer relief. We secured a historic majority of 232 seats ( in assembly polls). Sena (UBT)-MNS panel loses BEST credit society poll; BJP mocks ‘Thackeray brand' as reduced to zero
MUMBAI: In a jolt to the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the MNS, their panel has lost all 21 seats in the election to the BEST Employees Cooperative Credit Society Ltd, a platform where the two parties came together amid a buzz about a pan-Maharashtra alliance. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis accused the Sena (UBT)-MNS of politicising the credit society polls around the 'Thackeray brand'. The defeat prompted the BJP to mock the 'Thackeray brand', saying it has turned to 'zero'. Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut downplayed the defeat, saying he had no information about the results. 'The Thackeray brand can never fail. The credit society election is neither a final exam nor a unit test (for the upcoming local body polls),' Raut said. Suhas Samant, president of the BEST Kamgar Sena, aligned with the Sena (UBT), told PTI on Wednesday that the 'defeat of all its 21 candidates was shocking'. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the Sena (UBT), headed by cousins Raj and Uddhav Thackeray, respectively, came together on one platform to contest the election, seen as a precursor to a possible alliance between the two parties. Voting was held on Monday for the election to the cooperative credit society linked to the employees of the civic undertaking Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), which runs the city's ubiquitous red buses. Counting began on Tuesday and continued till late at night. A usually low-key and obscure election, the Sena (UBT) envisaged it to make the election a platform to showcase the unity of the two Thackeray cousins, a Sena (UBT) leader said.

Russian Envoy's " Sabka Hardik Swagat" Greeting Leaves Reporters Surprised
In what was a pleasant surprise, Roman Babushkin, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Russian Embassy in India, welcomed attendees at his press conference in Hindi. "We would like to welcome everyone, sabka hardik swagat," the Russian diplomat said. ("Hearty welcome to everyone.") " Shuruat karengey... Shree Ganesh Karengey. Aap sab ka Ganesh Chaturthi hai," Babushkin said as he began the interaction. ("We will Lord Ganesha. Ganesh Chaturthi is arrivin.") VIDEO | Delhi: Roman Babushkin, Deputy Chief of Mission, Russian Embassy in India surprised everyone welcoming them in Hindi during his press conference. "Shuruat karengey... Shree Ganesh Karengey!" Babushkin said as he began his media interaction. (Full video available on PTI… — Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) August 20, 2025 Babushkin then addressed questions on India-Russia relations, saying Moscow would continue supplying oil to India, Reuters reported. "Russia has a very, very special mechanism to continue oil supplies to India," Babushkin said. India's crude oil imports from Russia will remain at the same level, he added. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi by the end of the year, though no dates have been finalised yet, he confirmed. The press briefing came amid mounting pressure on India from the United States to slash oil imports from Russia. India now purchases approximately 1.75 million barrels per day from Russia, accounting for about 42% of its total oil imports. Western sanctions on Russia have led to discounted oil prices, which India has leveraged. In response to India's imports, US President Donald Trump imposed an additional 25% tariff on Indian exports starting August 28, citing continued purchase of Russian oil. This follows earlier US tariffs, bringing the total to 50%. The US has not applied similar measures to China for its Russian oil purchases. "The sanctions are a tool of unlawful competition. It's always about double standards. A lack of trust, blackmail and pressure, as well as disrespect of national interests. Friends don't behave like that," Babushkin said during the briefing. He added that Russia and BRICS countries never imposed sanctions, calling non-UN and secondary sanctions illegal. India responded firmly to US tariffs, calling them "unfair, unjustified, and unreasonable," pointing out that developing countries must balance energy needs with costs while Western nations have more flexibility in sourcing energy. Last month, the European Union sanctioned the Russian-backed Indian refinery Nayara Energy, prompting a reduction in its processing and trade activities. Despite these hurdles, trade between India and Russia is expected to grow 10% annually, according to Evgeniy Griva, Deputy Trade Representative of Russia to India, Reuters reported.
