Wings forward suffers injury scare vs. Fever
DALLAS — The Dallas Wings were defeated by the Indiana Fever on Friday night, losing by a final score of 88-78. Indiana got the job done on the road despite Caitlin Clark's injury absence. During the fourth quarter, Wings forward Myisha Hines-Allen suffered an injury scare.
Hines-Allen fell to the floor hard during a play in the final quarter. She was clearly in pain and the training staff — along with her teammates — circled around her. Hines-Allen was helped to her feet and exited the game with assistance. It appeared to be some sort of leg injury. She did later return to the bench, however.
Chris Koclanes was asked after the game if he had any new updates on Hines-Allen's injury status. The Wings head coach, however, said there were no updates on the forward.
The fact that Hines-Allen was able to return to the bench is promising. The hope is that she avoided any kind of serious injury. The Wings have dealt with injury trouble all season long, so the last thing they need is another long-term absence.
It goes without saying, but her injury situation will be worth closely monitoring moving forward. Updates will be provided as they are made available. With a few days until the Wings' next game, Hines-Allen will have time to rest.
Hines-Allen, a 29-year-old veteran, has endured an up and down season. She entered Friday night's affair averaging 6.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per outing. She was also shooting 46.9 percent from the field ahead of the contest.
Overall, the Wings have struggled throughout the 2025 campaign. They now hold an 8-21 record in 2025. The team will attempt to bounce back in their next contest against the Liberty in New York on Tuesday. It has been a challenging campaign for this Wings team, but they will continue to play hard in hopes of finishing the season strong.

Megha Ganne rallies to reach US Women's Amateur final against Brooke Biermann
BANDON, Ore. (AP) — Megha Ganne rallied from 4 down with seven holes left to win in 19 holes Saturday and reached the championship match in the U.S. Women's Amateur against Brooke Biermann, who narrowly avoided another stunning comeback. Biermann was 3 up with three holes to play when Kansas junior Lyla Louderbaugh won the final three holes with a 10-foot birdie on the 17th and a 30-foot birdie on the 18th. But on the first extra hole at the par-4 10th, Louderbaugh hit wedge well over the green, chipped across the green into the fairway and still had 5 feet for bogey when she conceded the match to Biermann. Ganne, the highest-ranked player remaining at No. 11 in the women's amateur ranking, was on the ropes when Ella Scaysbrook of Australia holed a 40-foot birdie putt from just off the green at No. 11 to go 4 up. But the Aussie gave away two holes, chipping into a bunker on the par-3 12th and three-putting for par on the 13th. Ganne holed a 25-foot birdie putt on the 15th to get within one, and Scaysbrook hit into the bushes and lost the 17th to a par. On the par-5 closing hole at Bandon Dunes, both were in bad spots off the tee, couldn't reach the green in three shots into the wind and halved the hole with bogeys. The 19th hole was nearly a repeat to the previous match. Scaysbrook went over the back of the green at No. 10. Ganne stuffed her wedge into 6 feet and never had to putt. The Aussie took two chips before conceding the birdie. Ganne, a senior-to-be at Stanford, will get a crack at her first USGA title. She reached the semifinals in the 2019 U.S. Women's Amateur, and the New Jersey native nearly stole the show at Olympic Club in 2021 by contending on the weekend before claiming low amateur honors. Biermann just finished her college career at Michigan State and plans to turn pro after the U.S. Women's Amateur. The winner is exempt into the U.S. Women's Open next year at Riviera. Even though she lost a late lead, Biermann relied on experience. This was her third match since Wednesday that went extra holes. She had to go 22 holes in the second round to advance, and in the round of 16, Biermann missed a short putt on the 18th hole to go overtime and calmed herself to win in 19 holes. ___ AP golf:

Brendan Donovan out of Cardinals lineup against Cubs with groin tightness
ST. LOUIS (AP) — All-Star second baseman Brendan Donovan was scratched from the St. Louis Cardinals' lineup on Saturday night due to tightness in his left groin. Donovan was initially scheduled to bat leadoff against the Chicago Cubs. The team said the move was for precautionary reasons. Chosen as an All-Star for the first time this season as a reserve, Donovan leads the Cardinals with 115 hits while hitting .278 this season. However, he's struggled in 18 games since the All-Star break, with a .188 average and three extra-base hits. He has only five hits in his last 11 games, all singles. Donovan was replaced at second base by Thomas Saggese, and the Cardinals shuffled their lineup to move center fielder Lars Nootbaar to the leadoff spot. ___ AP MLB:
