Poll
Should Jitesh Sharma have been more cautious in addressing Dinesh Karthik on social media?
Yes, he should have been careful.
No, he was just being himself.
"By the way, this is below the media center, not the entrance to the ground."
For RCB in IPL 2025, Jitesh played key knocks as a finisher, including an unbeaten 85 in a must-win match against Lucknow Super Giants, helping RCB finish in the top two of the points table.
He also served as RCB's captain when Rajat Patidar suffered a finger injury towards the back end of the competition.
Inside Lord's: Exclusive Stadium Tour & Must-Do Experiences
The wicketkeeper-batter will represent Baroda in the upcoming 2025/26 domestic season after leaving Vidarbha. Jitesh has played nine T20Is for India.
In the last domestic season, Jitesh captained Vidarbha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) and played under Karun Nair's leadership in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT). A move to Baroda means Jitesh will be able to play both white-ball and red-ball formats, having played only 18 first-class games since making his longer-format debut in the 2015/16 season.

'A Beautiful 30 Is Not...': India Great Slams Karun Nair, Calls For Change
Last Updated: Farokh Engineer criticizes Karun Nair's performance in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, urging him to score big. Nair's spot is threatened by Sai Sudharsan and Dhruv Jurel. Former India wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer has criticised Karun Nair's lack of significant contributions for the Shubman Gill-led side in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He believes India expects more than just 'beautiful' 30s from him, and that he needs to score big no matter how unattractive it looks. Nair has managed just 131 runs in six innings at 21.83 with a best score of 40 in the first innings of the third Test at Lord's. The team's inability to chase 193 in the game has put the batting department under the scanner. Sai Sudharsan and Dhruv Jurel are breathing down Nair's neck, and his time might be running out. 'Karun Nair has been getting brilliant 20s and 30s. He's (Nair) scored beautiful 30 runs, beautiful cover drives and all that. But a beautiful 30 is not expected from a No. 3. You've got to get a not-so-beautiful 100. You need runs on the board. You need (to score) bigger. The expectation should be much higher," Engineer told The Times of India. Sudharsan played in the first Test at Headingley at number three with Nair coming at six. The left-hander got stranded down the leg and was out for a duck in the first innings. He played much better in the second, looking assured for his 30 before flicking one to mid-wicket. He was dropped for the second Test as India looked for more bowling options and went with all-rounders in Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar. Can Karun Nair be replaced in Manchester? Nair's place in the team is under further threat because Rishabh Pant is unlikely to keep wickets but will play as a specialist batter in Manchester. That means the team will need to bring in Jurel. Given the bowling balance seemed fine at Lord's, they might look at Jurel. Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate also hinted at a change in the top-three. 'His rhythm and tempo have been good. But we need more from our top three," Doeschate told the media on Thursday. The fourth Test begins on July 23. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. IND vs ENG 4th Test: Rohit Sharma's WTC record in danger! Rishabh Pant closes in on massive feat
India's Rishabh Pant (AP Photo/Richard Pelham) India and England are set to face off in the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford in Manchester after a 9-day break following India's loss at Lord's. The upcoming match is crucial for India as they need a win to level the series 2-2, with wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant approaching Rohit Sharma 's World Test Championship (WTC) run record for India. Pant currently has 2677 runs in WTC history for India, trailing behind Rohit Sharma's record of 2716 runs. The wicketkeeper-batsman needs 40 runs in the fourth Test to surpass the former India Test captain's milestone. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The WTC run-scoring chart for Indian batsmen shows Rohit Sharma leading with 2716 runs in 69 innings, followed by Rishabh Pant with 2677 runs in 67 innings. Virat Kohli holds the third position with 2617 runs in 79 innings, while current captain Shubman Gill has accumulated 2500 runs in 65 innings. Ravindra Jadeja rounds out the top five with 2212 runs in 64 innings. Pant's availability for the fourth Test was initially uncertain due to a finger injury sustained while keeping wickets during the first innings at Lord's. This injury forced him to hand over the wicketkeeping duties to Dhruv Jurel for the remainder of that match. After Lord's heartbreak, Team India start training for Manchester, in London! According to Sky Sports, Pant has been cleared to play in the fourth Test at Manchester. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo This news was further confirmed by team captain Shubman Gill after the third Test defeat. "Rishabh went for scans. There is no major injury, so he should be fine for the fourth Test in Manchester," Gill stated. The upcoming match at Old Trafford holds significant importance for the Indian team, as a loss would result in an insurmountable series deficit with one match remaining. India's chances of leveling the series will partly depend on Pant's performance, considering his current form and the potential record-breaking opportunity before him. Poll Will Rishabh Pant surpass Rohit Sharma's WTC run record in the fourth Test? Yes, he will definitely surpass it No, he won't surpass it Not sure The match at Manchester represents a critical juncture in the series, with India looking to bounce back from their disappointing loss at Lord's. Pant's confirmed availability adds strength to India's batting lineup as they aim to keep their series hopes alive. The series now moves to Old Trafford with increased stakes for both teams. England aims to secure the series victory, while India seeks to force a deciding final Test. Pant's dual role as wicketkeeper-batsman and his pursuit of Rohit Sharma's WTC run record adds another layer of interest to this crucial encounter. The team dynamics remain focused on achieving a series-leveling victory, with Pant's recovery from the finger injury providing a boost to India's chances. His potential record-breaking achievement would be a secondary consideration to the primary goal of winning the Test match and keeping the series alive. Karun Nair Predicted To Be RETAINED For Next 2 ENG Tests: 'His Knocks Were Sweet'
Vidarbha coach Usman Ghani predicts Karun Nair will be retained for the remaining India-England Tests despite poor form, praising his mental strength and needing one good innings. Vidarbha coach Usman Ghani has predicted that Karun Nair will be retained for the remaining two Tests of the India-England Test series despite his indifferent form. Ghani believes that Nair has been unlucky to get out to some good deliveries amid some 'sweet' knocks and that head coach Gautam Gambhir will continue to reward his mental strength, 'zeal and grit' in the series where India need to overcome a 2-1 deficit. Nair, making his comeback after eight years of exile, has managed just 131 runs in six innings at 21.83 with a best score of 40 in the most recent Test at Lord's. Although India's bowling has been found lacking of precision at times, the team's inability to chase 193 at Lord's has drawn flak for the batting department. Sai Sudharsan and Dhruv Jurel are breathing down Nair's neck and time is running out for him to make this chance count. 'Karun is mentally a very strong guy and that's a fine trait to have," Ghani told Mid-Day. 'It's not easy to make a comeback in the Test team after eight years, but he did it. He has that zeal and grit. It's just a matter of one good innings for Karun. He is playing well and has got starts. In the first innings of the Lord's Test, he made a brilliant 40. He needs to build on that to get a bigger score to boost his confidence," he added. 'Karun has unfortunately got out to a few very good deliveries [on the England tour]. He got a good ball in the last innings at Lord's as well, where he left the ball [but was trapped LBW by pacer Brydon Carse]. It's possible that he may have gone into a defensive mode. He probably was in two minds about whether to leave or play that one. But I believe whatever innings he has played, have been very sweet. I think he will be retained for the remaining two Tests," he added. Nair's case might be complicated due to Rishabh Pant's recent finger injury. India have declared that he'll play the fourth Test at Old Trafford even if he's unable to keep wickets. That means they'll need to bring in Dhruv Jurel for a specialist player, and Nair could be in firing line. view comments First Published: July 18, 2025, 19:35 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
