He said the cartoon was surprisingly violent despite being for children
The actor recreated iconic 'Tom & Jerry' stunts in films like 'Sabse Bada Khiladi' and 'Khiladi 420'
Actor Akshay Kumar, famous for performing his own daring stunts, has revealed a rather unexpected source of inspiration behind his high-octane action sequences - the cartoon 'Tom & Jerry'. Known as the Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay has always impressed audiences with his fearless moves in films like 'Blue', 'Holiday', and the 'Khiladi' series.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla , the actor said that many of his action scenes are inspired by the cartoon duo Tom and Jerry.
'Do you know where I draw all this inspiration from? All the stunts I've done? You won't believe it, from 'Tom & Jerry',' Akshay said. 'I love watching 'Tom & Jerry', I think it's the most violent show. It's very violent, even though it's apparently made for kids. Each episode is 10 or 12 minutes long and packed with action. I've taken so much inspiration from it.'
He cited specific examples, saying, 'I remember Tom coming down from a helicopter, hanging and picking up Jerry - I did that in 'Sabse Bada Khiladi'. Then Tom hanging from a plane - I recreated that in 'Khiladi 420'. There's another scene where Tom puts a hammock under a helicopter and both he and Jerry sit down and have a glass of wine - I did that in 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'.'
Akshay also added humorously, 'People watch it thinking it's humorous, but it's not. In one episode, Tom breaks the whole house with a bat. It's so violent. Please understand - it's a violent show you're showing your kids!'
On the work front, Akshay is set to appear in a special role as Lord Shiva in the upcoming Telugu film 'Kannappa', also featuring Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Vishnu Manchu. The film is set to release on June 27. He also has 'Welcome to the Jungle' and Priyadarshan's 'Bhooth Bangla', alongside Wamiqa Gabbi and Paresh Rawal, in the pipeline.

A cause of death has not been announced, but Hawaii police have said that no foul play is suspected.
