'Snacks First': Chinese Kid's Response To Earthquake Sparks Laughter Online

The CCTV footage, shared on X by the account @_fluxfeeds with the caption, "Nothing comes between this kid and his meal not even an earthquake," has struck a chord with millions
A 4.3 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of southern China on the evening of June 23, sending tremors through Guangdong province's Qingcheng district. While no casualties or damage were reported, one unlikely hero of the quake has taken over the internet, a child who simply refused to let an earthquake interrupt his dinner.
In a now-viral video captured on CCTV, a Chinese family can be seen seated peacefully around the dining table when the ground begins to tremble. As the shaking intensifies, the father instinctively scoops up his younger son and rushes outside. The older son initially follows, but then pulls off a plot twist no one saw coming.
Within seconds, the boy pivots back, dashes to the dining table, and grabs a bowl, presumably to save the family's meal. A voice, likely the father's, is heard shouting at him to get out. But hunger, it seems, knows no fear. The determined child returns once more, scoops up a handful of food, and bolts outside again – this time with dinner in hand.

The CCTV footage, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the account @_fluxfeeds with the caption, 'Nothing comes between this kid and his meal not even an earthquake," has struck a chord with millions. The moment, a perfect blend of panic and comic timing, has been viewed over a lakh times, with users flooding the post with amused reactions.
Someone even called the boy an inspiration, saying, 'The child's focus during a literal disaster – food is serious business!" While, another joked, 'This kid has already solved the world hunger problem. Just run fast enough."
The tremor, while brief, reportedly caused no damage in the region. But the moment – raw, real, and unintentionally hilarious – offered a slice of relief and humour in what could have otherwise been a tense evening.

At one point, he even tries to grab some dishes. However, his father quickly steps in and persuades the boy to put the dish back. According to SCMP, the family lived on the 9th floor, and the earthquake was registered as a 4.9 on the Richter scale. Speaking to a local media outlet, the father said, "At the time, I was so nervous and just kept telling him to run, run. He has a natural comedic gene. I only realised how funny it was after watching the video." He added that the dish his son was so eager to save was not necessarily his favourite, but "he just likes to eat". "Life comes first, safety comes first. Do not think about material possessions. When an earthquake happens, your priority must be to escape and ensure your safety," the father told his son. The video has since gone viral on several social media platforms, drawing a wave of humorous and playful comments. "Boy, eat enough to have the strength to run!" wrote one user. "This is so funny. A panicked dad, a blindly following younger brother, a calm nanny and a hungry boy," commented another. "Earthquake or not, those snacks are non-negotiable!" quipped a third user. "That kid's focus is amazing, food is serious business!" said another.

Guru Randhawa deactivates X account after sharing cryptic post amid Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji row

After Mika Singh and B Praak, Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa has now joined the bandwagon of posting cryptic posts of nationalism over singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh's collaboration with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming film, Sardaar Ji 3. However, soon after the post went viral, it was met with harsh criticism from Diljit Dosanjh fans and netizens who cited his 'Lagdi Lahore' song, his movie Shahkot and more. Guru Randhawa has since deactivated his Twitter account. Screenshot of Guru Randhawa's X account at 10 PM on June 26 In an X post, Randhawa wrote in part Punjabi, "Lakh pardesi hoyieee, Apna desh nhi bhandi daa. Jehre mulk da khayie, us da bura nhi mangi da." The singer then continues in English saying, 'Even if now your citizenship is not Indian but you were born here pls remember this. This country made great artists and we all are proud of it. Pls be proud of where you were born. (sic)' He also added an "advice" for Dosanjh, and said, "Now don't start controversy again and manipulate Indians LOL. PR bigger than artist (sic).' Guru Randhawa's cryptic post that went viral on social media. Notably, the singer never mentioned Diljit Dosanjh's name. This wasn't the only cryptic post Randhawa made about Dosanjh and his movie Sardaar Ji 3. On Wednesday, June 25, Randhawa tweeted: 'When the PR team is more talented than the talent itself, controversies become part of the daily routine. The day is near when our people will open their eyes and know the truth. LOL. 1st of every month, dropping bombs. God bless the fake PR and the artists.' In an interview with the BBC Asian Network released on June 25, Diljit Dosanjh said that when he signed the movie, there was no trouble between India and Pakistan. He also shared that the team had completed the shoot by February, which is months before the hostilities between the two nations escalated following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The film's producers are already facing losses as the film won't come out in India due to a ban on Pakistani artists, he said, justifying the overseas release. 'When this film was made, the situation was fine... We shot it in February, and everything was going well at that time. Look, there are a lot of things, big things, that are not in our control. So the producers decided that obviously, now this film won't release in India, so let's release it overseas,' Dosanjh said.

Vishnu Manchu On Prabhas Skipping Kannappa Event: ‘I Know What Makes Him Uncomfortable'

Last Updated: Vishnu Manchu addresses Prabhas' absence at Kannappa pre-release event, says he avoided pressuring him as he wasn't feeling well. Vishnu Manchu's ambitious mythological film Kannappa is all set for release tomorrow, and expectations are soaring, thanks in part to the presence of superstar Prabhas. The actor plays a crucial role in this devotional epic, generating significant buzz across Telugu states. However, his absence at the pre-release event last week drew attention and sparked speculation online. Addressing the issue at the pre-release press meet held earlier today, Vishnu offered clarity. 'My brother Prabhas is comfortable with certain things, but there are some aspects that make him feel uncomfortable," he said. 'I'm truly grateful to him for being a part of my film. I know what makes Prabhas feel uneasy, and I avoid asking him about such things." Vishnu added that although Prabhas had intended to send a video message for the event, the plan was cancelled as he wasn't feeling well at the time. 'Even the shoot was called off. So I didn't want to trouble him further," Vishnu said, showing solidarity with his co-star. Meanwhile, early reactions to Kannappa are coming in strong. While a few viewers found the first half slightly slow and pointed out uneven VFX, many have been blown away by the film's emotional second half and powerful climax. Trade analyst Sumit Kadel wrote on X (formerly Twitter), 'Just watched #Kannappa and the last 30 minutes won't leave my mind. It's emotionally overpowering and gave me goosebumps." Screenwriter Kona Venkat also praised the film, calling the final act 'truly captivating." He added that the presence of Prabhas made a significant impact. Kannappa stars Vishnu Manchu as Thinnadu, a warrior whose devotion transforms him into Lord Shiva's greatest devotee. The film features Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, Prabhas as Rudra, and Mohanlal in a striking role as Kirata. First Published:
