NHAI begins land drive for ORR work in Krishna district

Time of India3 hours ago
Vijayawada: The Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR) project has gained fresh momentum with the Centre approving the state govt's proposal to expand the road's width from 70 metres to 140 metres.
In response, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has accelerated the land acquisition process, submitting requisition proposals for the greenfield alignment around the Vijayawada–Guntur–Tenali urban cluster.
Following this, the Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA) and Krishna district joint collector Geetanjali Sharma directed the Vuyyuru tevenue divisional officer (RDO) to initiate land acquisition and secure 3A proposals for an extent of 390.21 hectares.
This includes both private and govt lands in Kankipadu and Thotlavalluru mandals of Krishna district.
The Amaravati ORR is set to pass through 121 villages across 23 mandals in six districts — NTR, Krishna, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, and parts of Eluru. In Krishna and NTR districts, the alignment will cover mandals such as Gannavaram, Unguturu, Kankipadu, Thotlavalluru, Veerlupadu, G Koduru, and Mylavaram, necessitating land acquisition in nearly all affected villages.

Currently, the CALA has instructed the Vuyyuru RDO to obtain 3A proposals from tahsildars in Kankipadu and Thotlavalluru mandals. In Kankipadu, the villages of Maredumaka, Kolavenu, Nepalle, Davuluru, and Chalivendrapalem have been identified. In Thotlavalluru, the focus is on Boddapadu, Chinnapulipaka, North Valluru, South Valluru, and Royyuru.
With the state govt prioritizing the Amaravati ORR to boost connectivity around the greenfield capital region, the NHAI is working to complete land acquisition swiftly and begin construction at the earliest.

Koradi, Khaparkheda bunds 90% full, fly ash to be given for free

Nagpur: With the ash bunds of Koradi and Khaparkheda thermal power plants nearing saturation, the Nagpur district administration will make the fly ash available for free to entrepreneurs, builders and small industries. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by district collector Vipin Itankar at the collectorate recently. The fly ash is currently stored at the ash bunds at Khasara, Koradi, Waregaon and Nandgaon villages. Officials from the administration said that the ash bunds of both the plants are now 90% full, triggering concern over environmental and logistical challenges. Koradi generates around 12,000 metric tonnes of fly ash daily, while Khaparkheda adds another 7,000 tonnes. "The govt will not levy any charges for ash. It is available free for any entrepreneur or business that can put it to productive use," said Itankar. However, the recipient will have to bear the transportation cost. Fly ash can be used in various applications, particularly in the brick industry, stone quarries, layout filling, and manufacturing of cement pipes and paver blocks. To further encourage utilisation, the district has proposed a financial incentive of Rs125 per tonne for govt and semi-govt agencies that use fly ash for infrastructure projects. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Launch by L&T – 3 & 4 BHKs Near Viviana L&T Evara Heights Enquire Now Undo This includes road construction and dam reinforcement work etc. Officials from the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (Mahagenco) and the environment department were present during the meeting. Chief engineers Vilas Motghare (Koradi) and Girish Kumarwar (Khaparkheda) briefed the collector on the status of storage and disposal. Senior officials emphasised that the distribution will follow the rules and guidelines laid down by the Maharashtra environment department and Mahagenco. The aim is to turn an environmental burden into a resource by enabling its use in development and construction sectors. Entrepreneurs and contractors looking to procure ash can contact the ash utilisation departments at the respective power plants. Executive engineer Praveen Madavi (Koradi) can be reached at 8411957872, and executive engineer Pankaj Dharaskar (Khaparkheda) at 9923585481 during office hours. The administration hopes the move will ease pressure on ash bunds while giving a boost to cost-effective and eco-friendly construction practices.

DAVV's new academic session is two months late

Indore: The academic session at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya's University Teaching Departments (UTD) is set to begin over two months behind schedule, with undergraduate classes commencing from September 8. The university released its academic calendar, outlining a delayed yet structured timeline for teaching, examinations, and results. As per the calendar, teaching for the first semester will continue till December 23, followed by examinations scheduled from January 6 to 25. Results of these exams will be declared by February 1. Classes for postgraduate courses under CUET-PG are expected to begin by mid-July, while undergraduate classes, particularly those under CUET-UG, will only start in September due to delayed counselling processes. The university is facing challenges in synchronising its academic calendar across 33 departments running multiple UG, PG, and integrated programmes. While non-CUET course admissions were already completed and classes are set to begin soon, the staggered admission schedules are making it difficult to implement a uniform academic plan across all departments. DAVV also released the complete schedule for its PhD programmes. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Global Indices Are on the Move — Time to Trade!
