Delhi Police holds "Nasha Mukti" campaign

New Delhi, Aug 18 (UNI) Delhi Police, in collaboration with Daulat Ram College, today organised a comprehensive Drug Awareness and Prevention Programme at the campus.
The programme began with the inauguration of the "Awareness Wall" created by Delhi Police at Daulat Ram College, followed by a drug awareness video screening through a special "Jan Sampark Vahan" of the city police.
Addressing the students on the occasion, Special Commissioner of Police Devesh Chandra Srivastava lauded the efforts of University students and emphasised that, 'Drug abuse is not merely a law-and-order challenge, but a grave threat to our families, society, and the future of our youth."
He stressed that what begins with curiosity or peer pressure often ends in addiction, disease, and destruction.
The senior police officer shared with students that drugs fuel crime and organised networks that exploit the younger generation.
In a message to the students, he said that the true strength of our nation lies in its youth, and if their energy is wasted on drugs, the nation suffers.
He added that the Delhi Police has therefore resolved to pursue a dual strategy – strict enforcement against traffickers and continuous awareness among society.
He urged students to become 'ambassadors of a drug-free Delhi', influencing their peers positively and spreading awareness in their communities.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has adopted a 'Zero Tolerance Policy against Narcotic Drugs', vigorously pursued under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The senior cop added that, carrying forward this vision and under the leadership of Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh, the force has intensified its war against drugs.
The Special CP reiterated that 'law enforcement alone is not enough, society must also play an active role. Together, we must say No to Drugs, Yes to Life.'

TIL Creatives TEXMiN's satellite campus aims to anchor India's leadership in building the world's most extensive digital infrastructure for the critical minerals value chain and enabling digital traceability, sustainable sourcing, and transparency across the sector. NEW DELHI: Following the announcement of £1.8 million by Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Keir Starmer into the UK-India Critical Minerals Supply Chain Observatory under the UK-India Technology Security Initiative (TSI), TEXMiN will establish a new satellite campus at the Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad, and GMDC Ltd.'s iCEM will set up a Rare Earth-centric variant of the Observatory at Ahmedabad. Critical minerals, such as lithium, copper, nickel, and cobalt, are essential for modern high-tech applications, including electric vehicles, renewable energy, and semiconductors. The UK–India Critical Mineral Supply Chain Observatory, led by the Industrial Resilience Research Group at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), University of Cambridge, with the Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and others, maps critical minerals supply chains, assesses risks, and identifies investment and recycling opportunities across both countries. TEXMiN's satellite campus aims to anchor India's leadership in building the world's most extensive digital infrastructure for the critical minerals value chain and enabling digital traceability, sustainable sourcing, and transparency across the Mishra, Director, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and Chairman, Hub Governing Board, TEXMiN, along with Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and Project Director, TEXMiN, said in a statement, 'This partnership under the Technology Security Initiative marks a significant leap in India's journey toward self-reliance and global leadership in the critical minerals space. The new phase of collaboration will empower us to integrate cutting-edge technologies such as AI, blockchain, and advanced analytics to enhance traceability, transparency, and sustainability in the mineral supply chain.' The new investment includes £600,000 funding from Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd's International Centre of Excellence in Mining (iCEM). Roopwant Singh, IAS, Managing Director of GMDC Ltd, said in a statement, 'The India – UK Technology Security Initiative provides a perfect platform for academic and research centres like IfM of Cambridge University to partner with institutions like iCEM which are solving real world challenges faced by companies like GMDC Ltd as it works closely with global partners to build out the infrastructure that will lead to enhanced, global, supply chain resilience.' John Aston, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research at the University of Cambridge, said in a statement, 'The University of Cambridge's researchers engage in some of the most urgent and complex challenges facing the world today. Critical minerals have a key role in all our lives, in India and the UK and beyond, especially in energy transition and new technologies. So we welcome the opportunity to work more closely with our Indian colleagues in analysing the links (and breaks) in the supply chains of these essential elements.'As part of the renewed commitment under the TSI, both nations have also announced the creation of a UK-India Critical Minerals Guild to modernise financing frameworks and accelerate innovation across the sector. The initiative includes focused bilateral efforts in processing, recycling, market development, research and development (R&D), and risk management, ensuring a robust and future-ready critical minerals ecosystem. Shubhanshu Shukla says ISS experience will be ‘useful' for Gaganyaan mission: ‘Far better than any training'

Indian astronaut and IAF Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who recently returned from the Axiom-4 mission to the International Space Station (ISS), has described his time in orbit as an 'invaluable experience' that surpasses any training he had undergone on Earth. The astronaut, who made history as the first Indian to fly to the ISS, addressed a press gathering and later interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sharing insights into life in microgravity, the importance of hands-on exposure, and the global anticipation surrounding India's upcoming Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission. Speaking to reporters, Shukla explained that simulations and ground training, though rigorous, cannot fully replicate the realities of spaceflight. 'First-hand experience from the ISS mission is a lot better than any training,' he said. 'You only realise the challenges and the beauty of it once you are actually in orbit — adjusting to microgravity, conducting experiments, and living as part of an international crew.' India is preparing for its maiden human spaceflight under the Gaganyaan programme, targeted for 2027. Shubhanshu Shukla emphasised that his learnings aboard the ISS will directly contribute to shaping training protocols and mission preparedness for future Indian astronauts. 'The experience from ISS is going to be very useful for Gaganyaan. I have learnt so much in the past one year — knowledge that will help us make our missions more efficient,' he said. Prime Minister Modi echoed the sentiment, noting that Shubhanshu Shukla's mission was 'the first step' in India's long-term space ambitions, which include launching its own space station by 2035 and placing an Indian astronaut on the Moon by 2040. During their interaction, Shubhanshu Shukla informed the Prime Minister that there is immense international interest in India's human spaceflight plans. 'Many of my crew mates on Axiom-4 wanted to know about the Gaganyaan launch,' he said. 'Some even asked me to sign declarations promising they would be invited to the launch. They wanted to travel in our vehicle.' The Prime Minister, in turn, highlighted the need to build a robust astronaut corps of 40–50 professionals to ensure India's future missions are adequately supported. Shubhanshu Shukla used the occasion to inspire young Indians to dream of spaceflight. 'I never thought I would reach here and go to space, but if I can do this, you can do it too,' he said. 'We must move forward, one mission after another — Gaganyaan, then the Bharatiya Antariksh Station, and many more.' Shubhanshu Shukla concluded with a deeply patriotic note, reflecting on his view of Earth from orbit: 'While going up, while in orbit, and while coming back, Bharat aaj bhi antariksh se saare jahan se accha dikhta hai… Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!' India's roadmap includes the Gaganyaan human spaceflight in 2027, the establishment of a Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS) by 2035, and a crewed lunar landing by 2040, ANI reports.
