Delhi Police holds "Nasha Mukti" campaign

New Delhi, Aug 18 (UNI) Delhi Police, in collaboration with Daulat Ram College, today organised a comprehensive Drug Awareness and Prevention Programme at the campus. The programme began with the inauguration of the "Awareness Wall" created by Delhi Police at Daulat Ram College, followed by a drug awareness video screening through a special "Jan Sampark Vahan" of the city police. Addressing the students on the occasion, Special Commissioner of Police Devesh Chandra Srivastava lauded the efforts of University students and emphasised that, 'Drug abuse is not merely a law-and-order challenge, but a grave threat to our families, society, and the future of our youth." He stressed that what begins with curiosity or peer pressure often ends in addiction, disease, and destruction. The senior police officer shared with students that drugs fuel crime and organised networks that exploit the younger generation. In a message to the students, he said that the true strength of our nation lies in its youth, and if their energy is wasted on drugs, the nation suffers. He added that the Delhi Police has therefore resolved to pursue a dual strategy – strict enforcement against traffickers and continuous awareness among society. He urged students to become 'ambassadors of a drug-free Delhi', influencing their peers positively and spreading awareness in their communities. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has adopted a 'Zero Tolerance Policy against Narcotic Drugs', vigorously pursued under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The senior cop added that, carrying forward this vision and under the leadership of Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh, the force has intensified its war against drugs. The Special CP reiterated that 'law enforcement alone is not enough, society must also play an active role. Together, we must say No to Drugs, Yes to Life.' UNI APS SSP
