Samantha Ruth Prabhu On Life After Divorce From Naga Chaitanya: "Had Worst Thoughts, Nothing Was Working"
Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently opened up about the most difficult phase of her life following her divorce from Naga Chaitanya in 2021 and her diagnosis with Myositis in 2022.
In a conversation with Galatta Plus, the actor spoke candidly about how these events deeply impacted her both personally and professionally.
Describing this period as a "never-ending abyss," Samantha said, "I remember once I actually went to the point where I thought like, 'enough, I can't do this anymore'. I had the worst possible thoughts. I obviously didn't have the courage to go ahead and do it."
She added, "It was hard for a year. There was nothing that was working, there were no answers being given."
Reflecting on her state of mind at the time, Samantha explained, "I obviously chickened out because you need to have lots of guts to act upon these thoughts. So I was like, 'I better find a way to build some kind of resilience and start thinking of other things I can do with my life'."
Despite going through such a tough phase, the actor said the experience changed her perspective. "Now, when people say they are going through a hard time, I actually tell them to go through it. There is always a lesson to learn from it and light at the end of the tunnel. It is not my success that taught me a lesson, but my failures and hardships," she said.
After this difficult period, Samantha returned to the screen with the song Oo Antava in Pushpa and went on to star in Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara.
However, her next three releases - Yashoda, Shaakuntalam, and Kushi - did not perform well at the box office.
Now, Samantha is ready to make a comeback with her debut production Subham, a horror-comedy directed by Praveen Kandregula. The film will also mark her debut as a producer, and she will appear in a cameo role.

From art to mass appeal: Are the National Awards losing relevance? Experts answer
Once hailed as India's highest recognition for cinematic excellence, the National Awards are now at the centre of debate. The August 1 announcement sparked chatter that the honours have drifted from their roots, which were once dominated by socially conscious or indie-style cinema, to celebrating big-ticket blockbusters. From Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa' (2021) to Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' (2023), some cinephiles argue the shift marks a tilt towards the commercial, raising questions over whether the awards are losing their original was SRK not recognised for performances in Swades (2004) or Chak De! India (2007), which many believe was more deserving? Is the definition of 'independent cinema' itself misunderstood? And, most importantly, do the National Awards still carry the same weight in an era where every accolade is dissected online? India Today spoke to industry veterans for Viveck Vaswani addressed the commercial aspect, stressing that every film is commercial because it requires selling a ticket. He said, "What is not commercial? The production needs to pay his team, and how can he do that without making a commercial film? It's not one, only and unless no one is getting paid. It's not even a piece of art, as hundreds of crafts come together to make one film. So there is no question of whether we are moving towards it, as commercialisation has been around forever." The filmmaker also suggested that the term 'independent film' is often misunderstood: "Someone like Rakesh Roshan is the biggest independent filmmaker for me, as he never sold his negatives or made deals with any studio for his film."Naming Sunil Darshan as another example, for holding on to his film rights. Vaswani added, "So for me, Anurag Kashyap is not an independent filmmaker because most of his films are funded by Viacom 18 or 20th Century Fox. Those are studio products. The content of a product doesn't make it independent or non-independent. Making a gareeb art film with no money and then saying I'm an independent filmmaker is stupid. It is the money that determines what kind of film you'll make. If someone is paying you unlimited money without the expectations of any return, and you make a film for your personal joy, that's independent in the true sense." Shah Rukh Khan won National Film Award 2023 for Best Actor for 'Jawan' (2023). Two-time awardee Pavan Malhotra also weighed in, noting that a National Award does not necessarily change things, professionally. One may receive a little more respect from the industry, but it does not automatically translate into more him, however, both of his wins came as a surprise. Malhotra was given the Special Jury Award for 'Faqir' in 1998 and Best Supporting Actor for 'Fauja' in 2023. While the recognition may not alter the course of an artist's career, he believes it holds deep meaning for any nation-loving individual."Just the fact that I will take the award from the President of my country was a special feeling. I remember the first time when I won it, I kept thinking what I would tell him when I reached the stage (K. R. Narayanan was the president at that time). I was almost lost when I saw an army officer standing behind him, and instantly, I uttered the term 'Jai Hind'. I continue to use that as a greeting. I am a patriot, and for me, more than an actor, this honour means a lot as an Indian," Pavan Malhotra also questioned whether these awards, even though bestowed by the nation, retain relevance today. He said, "The moment we enter the social media space, every actor, filmmaker, award, every little piece of content is analysed by the threadbare. And hence, everything has lost its relevance because there's so much noise. I don't know what the truth is anymore. But then, you could say a National Award is as good or bad as the Padma Shri. Maybe, the Veer Chakra has far more relevance because it's about the army, and one has to really excel in war or probably die to get it. There is proof of bravery and courage."Shah Rukh shared the National Film Award 2023 for Best Actor alongside actor Vikrant Massey for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's '12th Fail'.- EndsTrending Reel

Ram Charan's Peddi: Samantha Ruth Prabhu To Be Paid THIS MUCH For Just One Item Song?
In recent years, item songs have become a surefire formula for chart-topping success in Indian cinema. From Samantha Ruth Prabhu's electrifying performance in Pushpa (2021) to Tamannaah Bhatia and Pooja Hegde lighting up the screen in Jailer (2023) and Coolie (2025), these special numbers have captured the audience's attention as much as, if not more than, the films themselves. Interestingly, even when a film already features a well-established lead actress, producers are increasingly opting to cast additional high-profile stars specifically for item songs. These musical numbers have become a staple in many films, often turning into chart-topping hits that captivate audiences regardless of the movie's plot or main cast. This trend highlights the immense popularity and commercial appeal of item songs in today's cinema landscape. For instance, Tamannaah Bhatia's energetic dance performance in the track Aaj Ki Raat from the film Stree 2 (2024) has went viral on social media, garnering widespread acclaim and excitement. Her earlier performance in Jailer was equally celebrated for its charisma and style. Likewise, Pooja Hegde made a remarkable impression with her lively dance number in Coolie, winning over fans and critics alike. Perhaps most notably, Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Oo Antava from Pushpa became a nationwide sensation, with its catchy tune and vibrant choreography capturing the imagination of viewers across the country. This growing emphasis on item songs featuring star performers underlines their powerful role in boosting a film's visibility and box office appeal, often becoming an unforgettable highlight that remains etched in the audience's memory long after the credits roll. Now, in a surprising turn, one actress is reportedly being paid a sum for a single song that rivals the fee of leading actors for entire films. Samantha Ruth Prabhu is reportedly gearing up for yet another special number. She is expected to appear in a song in an upcoming Telugu film titled Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu and starring Ram Charan, with music composed by A.R. Rahman. The film is being developed as a pan-India project. Industry sources reveal that Samantha Ruth Prabhu may be paid as much for this single song as she usually earns for a full-fledged acting role, with some reports even suggesting the amount may touch Rs 5 crore. Although discussions are still underway, an official announcement is expected soon.
