UT admn finalises plan for critical care hospital in Manimajra

Time of India21 hours ago
Chandigarh: After deciding against taking MC's land for the ambitious project of constructing a 50-bedded critical care hospital in Manimajra, the UT administration finally finalised a 2.01-acre plot for the first of its kind project.
Construction plan of the project, which will come up at Pocket Number 14, Manimajra, has been finalised. The engineering department will float the tender to invite bids.
The plan is to construct a building with three floors on 1,28,833 square feet covered area. The structure will comprise both the critical care block and the service or sarai block. Since the total plot area is 87,600 square feet, the Chandigarh administration allowed a 1.50 permissible FAR (Floor Area Ratio) for this project.
The new critical care hospital will have facilities such as emergency triage, gynaecology emergency, point of care lab, isolation room, ultrasound room, plaster room, duty room, and DU room. It will also have dialysis, isolation ward, therapeutic diet, duty room, staff room, cafeteria, and kitchen. Other facilities will include a 21-bedded ICU/HDU, operation theatre, administrative/office block, X-ray, MRI room, CT scan, and lab.

The administration has planned a dedicated building for sarai, which will have 84 beds for the public. This building will have chemist shop, tuck shop, cafeteria, kitchen, etc. A basement parking has been planned to prevent issues. A few areas in the basement will also be used for services.
The ground, first, second, and third floors of the building will have all the required facilities with modern technologies for treatment of patients.
In-depth consultations were held with the UT health department during the planning stage. Each medical aspect related to the project was thoroughly discussed and the floor-wise plan was finalised.
The critical care hospital project will be constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM). Since Manimajra is a densely populated area, the project aims at facilitating a large number of people, mainly from Manimajra, Maulijagran, and adjoining areas.
Box:
Earlier, the Chandigarh administration asked the Municipal Corporation to give its land for the project in Manimajra and take some of the UT's land in the southern sectors in return. However, the MC rejected the land-swap proposal and sought money against the land. Thereafter, the Chandigarh administration earmarked a new plot of land for the project instead of taking MC's land. Since the MC's land is situated adjacent to the Manimajra Civil Hospital, UT previously found the MC's land more suitable for the critical care centre project.
However, since the MC refused the swap, the project is now coming up at another location in Manimajra, decided by the Chandigarh administration.

SHRC: Take action to prevent rabies deaths

Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of 1.65 lakh people being bitten by dogs and 17 fatalities in the past five months, state human rights commission (SHRC) chairperson Justice Alexander Thomas on Monday ordered that steps be initiated to draft a plan to prevent rabies-related deaths. This follows the opinion of Dr Jacob John, former head of virology department at Vellore Christian Medical College, who suggested forming a task force. Justice Thomas emphasised the necessity of the Justice Siri Jagan Committee, appointed by the Supreme Court to recommend compensation to victims of dog bites, and requested state govt to clarify whether the committee was still active. SHRC also demanded a report from the additional chief secretary of the local self-govt department within a month. The commission registered the case suo motu based on media reports to take urgent measures to prevent rabies deaths and curb the street dog menace. Dr John recommended forming a task force that included representatives from the departments of forest, agriculture, animal husbandry, education, local self-govt and health. An expert from the health sector should lead the task force, with a senior govt official as secretary and Institute of Advanced Virology should be included. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Тези обувки са висш пилотаж в мъжката мода. JSR medical college's new building reports seepages

Jamshedpur: The newly built building of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH) has developed leaks and seepage even before the medical services are yet to become fully operational at the facility. The G+7 structure, which was built at a cost of Rs 386 crore, suffered water seepage on its walls and chambers at the outpatient department (OPD) complex since the onset of monsoon last month. Puddles have also developed in many places across ENT, orthopaedic, eye and medicine chambers, hospital staff and patients have claimed. On Friday, the false ceiling at the psychiatric OPD room collapsed. None was hurt. Built by Larsen & Toubro, the building has provisions for 751 beds. Water seepage in an operation theatre forced surgeons to call off a scheduled surgery last week. "After one surgery at the ENT OT was shelved on Friday, another surgery at the orthopaedic OT was called off on July 5," MGMMCH principal Dr Diwakar Hansda, said. "We have asked the heads of departments (HoDs) to conduct a physical survey of their respective chambers and the OTs and submit a report. We will send the report to the senior authorities in the department for appropriate action," Dr Hansda said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like You Won't Believe the Price of These Dubai Apartments Binghatti Developers FZE Get Offer Undo "The contractor claimed that leakages surfaced in the building after installation of the centralised air-conditioning facility. This is not a satisfactory answer. Monsoon rains will continue for three months. Hence, the contractor was asked to fix the leaks and seepages at the earliest. We will not take complete possession of the building before the defects are fixed," Dr Hansda added. L&T bagged the contract for the project from the state building construction department in 2019. Chief minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the building ahead of the state assembly election last year. Health minister Irfan Ansari directed the MGMMCH management to relocate from its existing facility in Sakchi to the new premises in Dimna after a balcony of the Sakchi premises collapsed and killed four people on May 3. The MGMMCH had set a deadline of shifting to the new building completely by July 15. "Almost all the departments have been shifted. The process of shifting the emergency ward, medicine ward, dressing room to the new building is on. We hope to meet the deadline," Hansda said.

E.Coli traces found in water tanks of Ghaziabad high-rise with 1,000 residents

Ghaziabad: Traces of bacteria were found in the water supply of Blue Moon Society in Raj Nagar Extension, potentially affecting nearly 1,000 residents, health officials confirmed after testing samples following repeated complaints. According to the officials, after multiple complaints from residents, the department team collected six water samples on June 5, all of which failed to meet acceptable safety standards. "In water samples taken several times, E. coli presence was confirmed," district surveillance officer, Dr RK Gupta said. A notice was promptly issued to society management on June 9, directing them to clean the overhead tanks and submit a corrective action plan. The management was served another notice demanding updates, but no response or remedial measures were reported," Gupta told TOI. Officials further maintained that the society's four overhead tanks lacked proper cleaning logs and maintenance records. "Even drinking-water tanks remain uncleaned, and no filtration measures are in place—a serious lapse in standard protocols," he added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo The discovery comes weeks after was found in water at another housing complex, Prateek Grand City, where sewage had contaminated supply lines affecting approximately 3,000 residents.
