Why a 10ft mural of the former football manager Sam Allardyce eating orange, battered chips has appeared in his home town of Dudley is something of a mystery. The man himself however is chuffed. 'Just seen the mural,' he said in a video message to ITV News. 'Absolutely privileged to be honest with you, I thought it was a very good likeness. 'Chips look a bit hot, but I really enjoyed seeing it. Whoever did it, thank you very much!' The mural of the 70-year-old is believed to have been pasted on to a wall near a chip shop in the centre of Dudley on Wednesday. The reaction so far has been mixed. 'It's a bit odd as it doesn't have a slogan or any words, but it brightens up the place,' said one man out shopping on Friday. A local worker, who asked not to be named and admitted he did not know who Big Sam was, described it as 'the random-est thing I've ever seen'. He added: 'Who is it? It's just weird, it doesn't make sense and it needs to go.' Allardyce, or Big Sam as he was and always will be known to football fans, is used to dividing the crowd. During his managerial career he became known as a survival specialist, taking charge at Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers, West Ham, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Everton, West Bromwich Albion, Leeds United – as well as England for one match. He was never afraid to say what he thought. As were fans of clubs he managed. During a miserable 6-0 defeat at Manchester City, West Ham repeatedly chanted 'fuck off Sam Allardyce'. In his memoir not long after Allardyce described West Ham fans as 'brainwashed' and 'deluded'. He once said he would win the league every year if got to manage a club like Real Madrid. Allardyce joked that the reason he would never manage one of the top four English clubs was because his surname was not Allardici. For some, the mystery of the new mural will be: who is the artist and why? For others it will be: what the heck are orange chips? There is a debate over the origin of orange chips – as in chips fried in an orange batter. Some say they have been around since the second world war and rationing. Others claim they date to the 1970s. What makes the batter orange is often a secret. Some think it might be best not to know. During lockdown, the Birmingham Mail published an orange chip recipe for people to try at home and the extra ingredients were paprika and orange food colouring.

This Morning star Josie Gibson has landed herself a brand new job starring in her own TV show. The 40-year-old - who regularly appears as a step-in host for the ITV show - will face the upcoming ITV programme Josie Gibson's Big Country Build. The seven-part series has allowed for cameras to follow her journey of transforming her huge Somerset property into a modern pad. Josie will be joined by her rarely-seen family members brothers Josh and Charlie, who are scrap metal traders, as well as her builder cousin Tom. Not only that, she's keen to follow a sustainable life style, so the camera crew will follow her growing her own produce and installing an underground heat pump for bees. ITV's press release states: 'The extensive renovation will be followed every step of the way as Josie attempts to assemble her dream home, complete with an on-site gym, walk-in wardrobe, and blacked out windows. 'And as she adapts to new surroundings, Josie will be building lots of new friendships with neighbours who could prove integral towards making her renovation dreams a reality.' Speaking about her new show, Josie said: 'My dream is to build a house as eco and luxurious as possible where you are immersed in the sanctuary of nature. 'I want to use the acres of land to try and my best to have a little small holding. I want bees, birds, badgers, to all live in harmony. 'Though, I'm becoming increasingly concerned that my harmonious dream is slowly turning into a construction nightmare.. 'I can't wait to bring the audience along on this journey with me!' The show is commissioned by Katie Rawliffe, who is Director of Entertainment & Daytime for ITV, as well as Lily Wilson, Commissioning Editor for ITV. Katie said: 'She's done a stint in the jungle and tackled all manner of outlandish tasks on This Morning, but our audiences are about to see a completely new side to Josie Gibson as she embraces country life and takes sustainable living to a whole new level!' Dom Bird, Senior Vice President, MGM Unscripted added: 'Josie's energy is infectious and her enthusiasm unstoppable. Her renovation experience, however, is less apparent. 'They'll be chaos, charm, and more than a few bumps in the road as Josie and her band of builders attempt to turn her newly acquired wreck into the dream home she's always wanted.' Josie Gibson's Big Country Build is produced by MGM Alternative UK. Sarah Clarke is series producer. In a sneak preview of the show, Josie can be seen saying walking around the property saying: 'Can't wait to start knocking it down... 'That's the best bit innit. 'This is being smashed out. All the doors are going... that's going. 'This wall is going to be knocked out. That wall is going to go... 'The entire thing is going to be demolished. And this is going to be glass from the bottom all the way up to the top.' Fans are very excited, with one saying on Instagram: 'Can't wait for this!!!' 'How fabulous.' 'ooooooo how exciting can't wait to watch.' 'That's gonna be a great show Josie.' Josie shot to fame in 2010 when she won the 11th series of the Channel 4 series of Big Brother. The star became a huge hit with fans and has gone on to have a very successful telly career. She joined the This Morning team in 2019 and regularly steps in for the main presenters when they are away. Josie also presents segments and competitions. The host has starred in various other TV shows over the years. Josie has appeared on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Loose Women, The Jump, Cooking with the Stars, I'm A Celebrity and The Masked Singer UK. The presenter is also proud mum to her son Reggie-James.

New trendy flavour of iconic Fox's chocolate biscuit is hitting Tesco shelves

SWEET-TOOTHED shoppers are flocking to get their hands on a new biscuit inspired by a huge 2025 flavour craze. Fox's has launched its own twist on the popular Dubai-style chocolate. And to make things even sweeter, they are being sold in Tesco for just £2.65 for Clubcard customers. If you don't have a Clubcard, the limited edition biccies are £3 per pack. Fox's is the first mainstream confectionery brand to marry the luxurious pistachio filling with a biscuit. Originating from the UAE's luxury capital, Dubai-style chocolate blends Middle Eastern heritage with lavish presentation, often featuring ingredients like saffron, rose, pistachio, cardamom, camel milk, and even edible gold leaf. The craze, which started gaining popularity in 2010, has now found its way to the UK through luxury retailers, travel influencers, and foodies keen to explore global flavours. Chocolatiers in London, Manchester, and beyond have since begun crafting their own takes on Dubai-style confections, often marketing them as premium gifts or special-occasion treats. One of the most common fillings is knafeh, which is made from a crispy shredded filo pastry. Pistachio cream is also spread through the sweet chocolate, adding a nutty flavour to cut through the sweetness. Fox's biscuits make the flavour accessible for all budgets, and they are perfect with a cup of tea. Earlier this year, M&S shoppers were delighted when the retailer decided to bring back their take on the treat. Just like 'Dubai chocolate', M&S' chocolate bar - the Big Daddy - features a milk chocolate shell filled with a scrumptious green pistachio filling. The supermarket took to Instagram to share: 'Our VIRAL Big Daddy Pistachio is BACK in stock and has your name written all over it! 'If you missed out the first time, we'll forgive you, but don't let yourself miss out again on this heavenly bar of signature rich, creamy milk chocolate layered with gooey sweet and salty caramel, filled with a chunky pistachio layer with roasted pistachios, velvety pistachio creme and a light, biscuit crumb. 'Snack responsibly… or don't, we're not judging.' The Big Daddy Pistachio is actually an update on Marks and Spencer's insanely popular Big Daddy bar that had shoppers in a frenzy in 2024. This comes after a Dubai-style product was urgently recalled following a dangerous health risk. Shoppers were warned not to eat the popular sweet treat. The Food Standards Agency warned that the Neosis Schokolade Love of Dubai chocolate contains peanuts. But this is not mentioned on the label, making it a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy to the nut. Shops selling the chocolate are warned to "immediately stop sales and to undertake product withdrawals". The FSA said: "The product presents a serious risk to anyone with an allergy to peanuts." Businesses have been supplied these products by a company called Black Sea Trading Ltd, "who have so far been uncontactable". The FSA added: "Don't buy this product, and if you have bought it, don't eat it, especially if you have a peanut allergy. "Dispose of the product at home and get in touch with your local Trading Standards in Great Britain or Environmental Health Officers in Northern Ireland, to let them know where you purchased it." What can I get with Tesco Clubcard? TESCO'S Clubcard scheme allows shoppers to earn points as they shop. These points can then be turned into vouchers for money off food at the supermarket, or discounts at other places like restaurants and days out. Each time you spend £1 in-store and online, you get one point when you scan your Clubcard. Drivers using the loyalty card get one point for every two litres spent on fuel. One point equals 1p, so 150 points gets you a £1.50 money-off voucher, for example. You can double their worth when you swap them for discounts with "reward partners". For example, £12 worth of vouchers can be swapped for a £24 three-month subscription to Disney+. Or you can swap 50p worth of points for £1 to spend at Hungry Horse pubs. Where you can spend them changes regularly, and you can check on the Tesco website what's available now. Tesco shoppers can also get Clubcard prices when they have the loyalty card. The discounted items change regularly and without a Clubcard you'll pay a higher price. These Clubcard prices are usually labelled on shelves, along with the non-member price. But it's worth noting that just because it's discounted doesn't necessarily make it the cheapest around, and you should compare prices to find the best deal. You can sign up to get a Tesco Clubcard in store or online via the Tesco website.
