Brit Awards move to Manchester from next year
The biggest night of the UK music industry calendar has been held in London for the past four decades but will move to the Manchester Co-op Live arena in 2026 and 2027.
The 2026 ceremony on Saturday February 28 will be broadcast exclusively on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester said: 'For the Brit Awards to move out of London is a massive coup for Greater Manchester.
'After 48 years, it is great that this prestigious global event is about to arrive in the UK capital of music and culture.
'Greater Manchester has an unparalleled music heritage known around the world, and this summer will play host to some of the biggest gigs on the planet.
'That was only made possible by our strong commitment to new talent and giving emerging artists the opportunities to make their name.
'We thank our friends at the BPI for choosing Manchester and we will pull out all the stops to show they made the right decision.
'Celebrating the Brit Awards right here in the home of 24 hour party people is the next chapter in its story and you can be sure that we will help them do it in style.'
The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) is the trade body for the UK's music industry.
Next year's Brit Awards will be the first of three years under the stewardship of Sony Music UK, which spearheaded the move to Manchester.
Jason Iley, chairman and chief executive of Sony Music UK & Ireland said: 'This is a very exciting time for The Brit Awards.
'Moving to Manchester, the home of some of the most iconic and defining artists of our lifetime, will invigorate the show and build on the Brits' legacy of celebrating and reinvesting in world-class music.
'Hosting the show in Manchester, with its vibrant cultural history, perfectly captures the spirit and energy of the Brit Awards.
'I can't wait to see the show at the amazing state-of-the art Co-op Live venue.'
Mastercard will continue their long-standing headline sponsorship, now in its 28th year.
Charli XCX was the stand-out star at this year's Brit Awards at London's O2 Arena, taking home five awards including album of the year for her sixth studio release, Brat.
US pop star Sabrina Carpenter was the recipient of the global success award, while former Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall collected the best pop act award.
US pop star Chappell Roan won international song of the year for Good Luck, Babe!
Co-op Live is currently Britain's biggest indoor arena and opened in May 2024 after several delays.
British band Elbow opened the 23,500-capacity venue and since then acts including Sir Paul McCartney and Charli XCX have held gigs.

Nate twist in early Emmerdale ITVX streaming release as legend taken to station
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) are in the middle of an intense back and forth in Emmerdale, as they continue to believe the other person murdered Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter). On Monday, Cain opened up to John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), Nate's actual murderer, and said that he really wants to grieve for his son, but Tracy's ongoing theory that he's a killer is getting in his way. Feeling the tiniest bit sorry for him, John decided to form a plan, and it involved framing Tracy. The police arrived at her house first thing and announced they had a warrant to search the premises. As Tracy's home was turned upside down, the police then made an alarming discovery. Hiding in Frankie's playhouse was Nate's phone. The detective in charge already knows that Nate's phone has been switched on near the village, suggesting the person who killed him lives there. This certainly didn't look good. In order to officially question Tracy, the detective took her to the station. More Trending There, Tracy protested her innocence and grew increasingly frustrated at the fact she wasn't listened to. When the detective in charge then learnt about Tracy using a credit card in Nate's name, she suggested that she killed her partner with a plan to profit from it afterwards. Coronation Street twist in ITVX release as the truth about Lisa's ex Becky is confirmed
This article contains spoilers for tonight's Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX. It was a tough day on Coronation Street for many of the residents in tonight's instalment of the ITV soap, as they said their goodbyes to Craig Tinker, following his murder last month. Ahead of his memorial service, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) appeared to be struggling more than most, with Craig's brutal death bringing back painful memories of wife Becky's murder. In a bid to try and distract herself from the tough afternoon, Lisa decided to have a sort out, which drew Betsy Swain's (Sydney Martin) attention to some old files. As soon as she flipped one open, Lisa was on her, demanding that she mind her own business, leaving the teen concerned that her mum was having some kind of breakdown. With Betsy convinced that Lisa was hiding something, she later confronted her about the contents of the file, and Lisa explained that it contained information about Betsy's donor that she isn't legally allowed to see until she turns 18. However, Betsy wasn't convinced, and was soon caught rooting through the files by Carla Connor (Alison King). When Lisa returned home and found the files disrupted, she was horrified that Betsy had read the contents, and soon confessed to Carla what they really contained. She revealed that, before her death, Becky was being investigated by the anti-corruption unit, and Lisa was keen to keep that information from Betsy. Lisa emotionally opened up about how she and Becky had fought over the allegations the day Becky was killed, and though the investigation was dropped, she didn't get the funeral she deserved. Carla urged Lisa to be honest with Betsy, so she called her to the station to talk. However, when Betsy insisted that she hadn't read the letter because she wasn't interested in knowing who her sperm donor was, Lisa decided to keep quiet about what the letter was really about. More Trending Unfortunately, Betsy wasn't being entirely honest either, as she later revealed to Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) that she knew exactly what the letter was about. She confessed that she was convinced Becky's hit and run had been a coverup of some sort, and asked Lauren for her help in getting to the bottom of things. Unusual jewellery line is winning wearers 'so many compliments'
Fusing architecture style with smooth lines, the Vitaly range is a great choice for festival goers and snappy dressers In a world where fashion often follows the crowd, sometimes it's nice to break the mould by wearing some unique and unconventional jewellery. With the festival season just around the corner, summer is the perfect time to try something new. Much more than just accessories, the right piece of jewellery is a statement of individuality and creativity. Vitaly is a Canadian based jewellery and accessory company wowing Brits with chunky, funky, heavy metal pieces. Known for its minimalist, architectural-inspired designs, the brand specialises in genderless designs. Using using 100% recycled stainless steel in all their products, Vitaly is committed to ethical sourcing, offering stylish and eco-conscious options for trend setters. One of the highlights of the Vitaly collection is the The Paralyze chain. Blending soft and hard elements, the statement piece has gently curving spikes that take on an almost feather-like appearance. Available in a choice of stainless steel, gold and polished black metals, one buyer praised the unique style of the £185 heavy metal chain, saying: "This work of art is magnificent." Another unique piece that's hard enough to handle every sweaty set and midnight mosh pit is the £61 stainless steel Monolith ring. Available in a choice of nine different sizes, the solid polished band with two substantial planes is said to "embody both oneness and separation." For a more subtle twist, bring the bling to the ears with Series Hoops. A set of six stackable hoops designed for maximum versatility, Series features two earrings each in three different sizes. Made from stainless steel, the set is on sale for £72, buyers have called them "a great set of hoops" that are "simple and high-quality." Jewellery lovers who would like to try Vitaly for less could snap up a bargain on their sale page. Some of the best deals include the RPM bracelet - an homage to the humble AUX cord, the adjustable bangle comes in stainless steel or gold. Reduced from £102 to £72, it's an unusual gift for music lovers. Other great buys include the The Fang necklace - a show-stopping neckpiece with an otherworldly appearance reduced from £208 to £125 and the Decibel ear cuff, designed to be worn without the need for a piercing, is now £55 down from £91. "These rings make any outfit shine," said another shopper who purchased the Grip rings, adding: "they are so simple and shine really nicely. I'm very satisfied with these!" While there were no negative reviews to speak of, one buyer who left a three-star review on Trustpilot said: "I bought stuff on 25% off but still felt like their prices are on the steep end. Their designs are cool and different, but that seems to be their only unique selling point." A five-star review that summed up the Paralyze chain said: "My favourite necklace. It's even better than I expected. I get so many compliments."
