Fertilizer shortage: KTR demands action against culprits
He lamented that there was no farmer assurance benefit in the Congress government and added that there was also no farmer loan waiver benefit.
He expressed his concern that even if the farmers take out loans and do agriculture, they were facing the shortage of fertilizers for their crops. To this extent, KTR responded to the problems of the farmers through his social media platform X.
KTR questioned as to why the State government was in a situation, where even though the farmers have given Aadhaar cards as requested by the Revanth government, the State government was not in a position to give the farmers a bag of fertilizers? He demanded that the Revanth government should explain to the farmers as to why there was a shortage of 1.94 lakh metric tons of the fertilizer across the Telangana State.
He protested that not only the farmers, but also the people of the State should know how the price of a bag of urea, which should have been Rs 266.50, had now reached Rs 325? He rained down questions and asked the government as to who is running the black market racket in the name of the shortage of the fertilisers? KTR demanded that the Revanth government immediately conduct an investigation against those who are responsible for the shortage of the fertilizers.

UDF spotlights court's observation that a ‘superpower authority' controlled Vigilance as an indictment of CMO
The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) on Friday argued that a special court's damning repudiation of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB)'s attempt to absolve former Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, M.R. Ajith Kumar vindicated the Opposition's position that a cabal of conspirators at the apex of the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) subverted law enforcement for their vested interests. Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan stated that the clique operated beyond the pale of law and legislative scrutiny. Mr. Satheesan said the court had shone a light on how the coterie controlled the police, including the VACB. He highlighted the court's observations in the high-profile case. Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge A. Manoj had written that the 'court cannot believe that the officers of the Vigilance department and the superpower authority controlling them' violated the Supreme Court's stricture on investigating official corruption. Mr. Satheesan also seized upon a damning observation of the court to criticise the CMO. The court stated that the 'facts of the case suggest that there is an invisible penetration by someone into the inquiry that leads to the preparation of a report favourable to the suspect, who holds a high position in the Police department. The inquiry report is a subservient report prepared for those who need reports like the present one.' The judge flagged an 'apparent attempt' at the inquiry's outset to supersede the statutory provisions of the Vigilance Manual and Supreme Court judgments, including the establishing Lalithakumari case. The judge wrote that the investigation officer juggled facts and statements to absolve the accused officer of the alleged crime of disproportionate assets accumulation. Mr. Satheesan said the court's decision to conduct an inquiry on its own was an indictment of the Left Department Front (LDF) and its Home and Vigilance departments. He stated the court had signalled an evident lack of trust in the VACB governed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Mr. Satheesan alleged that the VACB's clean chit to Mr. Ajith Kumar was a quid pro quo for the ranking officer acting as the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]'s secret emissary to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He alleged that Mr. Vijayan had protected the officer, despite him holding secret parleys with the RSS' national leadership.

Advocate Milind Pawar, representing Gandhi in a defamation case filed by Satyaki Savarkar, grand-nephew of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, said the Special MP/MLA Court had accepted the withdrawal. Rahul Gandhi is out on bail in the defamation case, in which trial proceedings are yet to begin. Satyaki Savarkar alleges the Congress leader defamed his great-uncle in a March 2023 speech in London, accusing V D Savarkar of writing that he and friends had once beaten a Muslim man and felt happy about it, a claim the complainant says is entirely false and unsupported by any writing.

Plans afoot to harness solar energy for women's empowerment, solar-powered irrigation for tribal farmers: Bhatti
About 27,447 acres belonging to 11,785 tribal farmers in Khammam district will be developed under the Indira Solar Girijana Vikasam Scheme in the coming three years, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said. Addressing the Independence Day main function, after unfurling the national flag in Khammam on Friday, he outlined a string of initiatives to optimally harness solar power in pursuit of clean energy future. He said that 22 villages in Bonakal mandal have been selected under the Model Solar Village scheme. Plans are afoot to run solar power plants under the aegis of women self-help groups at Rajulapalem village in Yerrupalem mandal and Chinakorukondi in Kallur mandal for generating 2 MW solar energy under the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme. Works on the construction of a cable bridge across the Munneru river were under way at an estimated ₹180 crore, and medical college building works are in progress at ₹130 crore, he added. Besides, ₹2.50 crore has been sanctioned for the development of Buddhist monuments at Nelakondapalli. Proposals have been submitted by the departments concerned for sanction of ₹29 crore for the ropeway project at Khammam Fort and development of related tourist facilities. Mr. Vikramarka highlighted some of the key initiatives of the Congress government in irrigation, agriculture, road and infrastructure development spheres, besides a string of welfare schemes. Khammam MP R. Raghuram Reddy and Collector Anudeep Durishetty were also present.
