Epstein Expert Slams ‘Absurd' MAGA Effort to Make Ghislaine Maxwell a Victim: ‘She Was a Pedophile'
Independent journalist and Jeffrey Epstein expert Tara Palmeri told MSNBC's Nicole Wallace that Trump supporters let Epstein's partner-in-crime Ghislaine Maxwell off too easily.
'Any sort of idea that Ghislaine was some sort of victim as they are saying on NewsMax and other places is absurd,' Palmeri said on MSNBC's Deadline White House. 'She was a pedophile. She did the exact same thing.'

Maxwell is currently serving currently a 20-year prison sentence for conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to sexually abuse minors. She was convicted in 2021 and sentenced in June 2022.
Palmeri said that she was responsible for luring young girls to Epstein. She referenced several examples from victims she has spoken to on her podcast 'BROKEN: Jeffrey Epstein.' The podcaster said Maxwell called one victim Annie Farmer's mother to convince her it was okay for her daughter to join the couple at Zorro ranch because they would pay for her tuition.
'They preyed on children,' she said.
She added that the houseman Juan Alessi, who worked for Epstein since the 1990s, told her that the couple's 'ritual' was to drive around south Florida to look for three girls per day to 'satisfy his needs.'
Maxwell did not just groom the young girls and send them to Epstein to be sexually abused. Palmeri said that she participated in sexual acts with them, and that Trump supporters are ignoring that fact.
'Once she got them in the door, she was involved in the sexual acts,' she added. 'I don't think they want to hear this. They want to create the impression that she is somehow absolved from all of this.'
Watch the exchange here:
Virgina Giuffre, who was pursued by Maxwell and Epstein at Mar-a-Lago, told the podcaster that she met Trump through Epstein. Giuffre was a 'sex slave' to Epstein and his friends from the age of 16 to 18. The woman was only with Epstein from 2000 to 2002, Palmeri said, but Trump and Epstein remained friends at that time. The pair have several pictures together from after the president claims they had a friendship falling out.
Tuesday the president said he and Epstein ended their friendship because Epstein 'stole people that worked for me' – including after he had warned Epstein not to do it again. He also acknowledged that one of those employees may have been Giuffre, one of Epstein's most outspoken accusers, who died by suicide earlier this year, but Trump did not specify that the employees were young women. However last week the White House said Trump barred Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago club 'for being a creep.'
'This whole idea that President Trump was upset about it at the time is absurd,' Palmeri said.
Those slightly different stories of the pair's falling out also differ from a 2019 Washington Post report that claimed the two men's friendship ended over a 2004 property dispute over a bankrupted oceanfront property called Maison de l'Amitié. Palmeri agreed with that timeline.
The Wall Street Journal published a series of articles alleging Trump appeared in the Epstein files 'multiple times,' and that his Attorney General Pam Bondi warned him of this. The president sued the Wall Street Journal for $10 billion for defamation for publishing a suggestive birthday note that Trump wrote for Epstein's 50th.

Trump administration freezes $108M at Duke amid inquiry into alleged racial discrimination
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration is freezing $108 million in research funding to Duke University as the federal government accuses the school of racial discrimination in the form of affirmative action, according to a person familiar with the matter. The National Institutes of Health halted the funding to the private university in North Carolina, said the person who spoke Wednesday on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. Earlier this week, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Education Department sent a joint letter alleging racial preferences in Duke's hiring and admissions. Duke is the latest institution to have its federal funding held up as the government investigates allegations of antisemitism and diversity, equity and inclusion policies the administration says are unlawful. It follows other probes including at Harvard, Columbia, and Cornell. Duke did not immediately comment. In Monday's letter to Duke, leaders of HHS and the Education Department accused the university of 'vile racism.' It alludes to allegations of racial preferences at Duke, its medical school and its health system that, if substantiated, would make Duke 'unfit for any further financial relationship with the federal government.' The letter accuses Duke of providing racial preferences in recruiting, admissions, scholarships, hiring and more. It refers to allegations of discrimination without offering specific examples. 'Racism is a scourge when practiced by individuals, but it is especially corrosive when enshrined in the nation's most eminent and respected institutions,' according to the letter, signed by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Education Secretary Linda McMahon. It's part of a broader campaign to eradicate DEI practices the Trump administration describes as discrimination against white and Asian American people. In their letter, the agencies order Duke to end any practices at its health system that give 'benefits or advantages' based on race. Saying Duke is unlikely to be capable of an 'honest and trustworthy review,' the letter takes the unusual step of requesting a new Merit and Civil Rights Committee that would be approved by the government and authorized by the school's board of trustees. The panel would be tasked with identifying and ending any racial preferences. If problems remained after six months, the administration would pursue legal enforcement, the letter said. The Education Department separately opened an investigation into the Duke Law Journal on Monday over allegations that it gave advantages to prospective editors from underrepresented groups. The Trump administration has used federal research funding as leverage in its effort to reshape universities that President Donald Trump has described as hotbeds of liberalism. It has presented a crisis for universities that rely on federal grants as a major source of revenue, spurring some to take on debt and find other ways to self-fund research. Duke University spent $1.5 billion on research last year, with nearly 60% coming from federal sources, according to the university's website. Even before the latest funding freeze, Duke faced financial turmoil. Last week, university leaders said almost 600 employees had accepted voluntary buyouts but that layoffs would still be needed. Officials said they needed to reduce costs amid uncertainty around federal research funding and a hike to the university's federal endowment tax. The Trump administration has been ratcheting up pressure on universities in hopes of striking deals like one that Columbia University signed last week. The Ivy League school agreed to pay $200 million and make changes to admissions, hiring, student discipline and more in exchange for regaining access to federal funding. The administration has described it as a template for other universities including Harvard, which has been in talks with the administration even as it battles the White House in court. ___ The Associated Press' education coverage receives financial support from multiple private foundations. Bessent tells countries don't ‘panic' if trade deals aren't made before Aug. 1, insists US has ‘leverage' over China
WASHINGTON — Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent implored US trading partners Wednesday not to 'panic' if they don't agree to economic deals before President Trump's Friday tariff deadline — while explaining that the US hasn't yet signed off on a permanent agreement with China because Washington now has 'a lot more leverage.' 'If there's not a deal by Aug. 1, I would encourage market participants, corporate America, even the countries, not to panic, because you can still do a deal,' Bessent said in remarks at a forum hosted by Breitbart News at the Waldorf Astoria in the nation's capital. Bessent went on to predict a 'busy August' with duty rates set to jump from the current 10% to as high as 50%, giving countries additional incentive to come to the negotiating table. 3 U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer speaks next to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent during a press conference at government quarters Rosenbad after the trade talks between the U.S. and China concluded, in Stockholm, Sweden, July 29, 2025. via REUTERS Advertisement Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick have stressed that the deadline can not be extended any more and that the rates will go up regardless of how far along negotiations are with any country. 'No extensions, no more grace periods. Aug. 1, the tariffs are set; they'll go into place. Customs will start collecting the money, and off we go,' Lutnick said on 'Fox News Sunday.' 'Obviously, after Aug. 1, people can still talk to President Trump. I mean, he's always willing to listen, and between now and then, I think the president is going to talk to a lot of people. Whether they can make him happy is another question.' The Treasury head said recent trade deals announced by the US — including with the European Union and Japan — created a 'lot more leverage' and promised China will not get a 'special deal,' despite being America's third largest trading partner among individual nations. Advertisement 'They were a little on their heels because we were — a week before, we had just done the Japanese trade deal, then the day before we began our talk … with the EU,' Bessent said. 'The world's with us now,' he added. 3 A container ship arrives at the port in Lianyungang, in China's eastern Jiangsu province on July 14, 2025. Advertisement The US and China agreed to a trade truce in June, with Trump imposing a 30% tariff. That rate, which includes a 10% baseline tariff and another 20% as punishment for the flow of fentanyl ingredients from inside the Asian power, is significantly lower than the 145% rate Trump threatened at the peak of their trade war in the spring. But Trump appeared to be optimistic Sunday about the prospects of an agreement, telling reporters in Scotland 'we're very close to a deal with China.'

Charlamagne tha God slams ‘liberal media' for ignoring Bill Clinton's ties to Epstein: ‘Nobody's talking about that'
Charlamagne tha God of the 'Breakfast Club' on Tuesday slammed the 'liberal media' for ignoring former President Bill Clinton's past ties with Jeffrey Epstein. 'You know, it's interesting, too, 'cause it's just funny how the news works 'cause Bill Clinton, you know, wrote a letter to Jeffrey Epstein as well for his birthday, but nobody's talking about that. And Jeffrey Epstein had a picture of Bill Clinton in a dress in high heels in his New York mansion, but nobody's talking about that,' Charlamagne said. He continued, 'My thing is this. I don't care who's on the list. Everybody got to go. Burn it all down. Like, that's just simple as that. Mutually assured destruction. Whoever's on that list need to go. Nobody needs to be protecting pedophiles.' Charlamagne's comments, which were first flagged by Mediaite, came after President Donald Trump said that those asking about the late financier Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking case should direct their attention to Clinton and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers. Trump's remarks come a day after US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche met with Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell in Florida amid heightened scrutiny about the case after the Trump administration announced it would not unseal investigation materials concerning Epstein. 'You ought to be speaking about Larry Summers. You ought to be speaking about some of his friends that are hedge fund guys,' Trump told reporters Friday while departing for Scotland. 5 Charlamagne tha God called out the 'liberal media' for ignoring former President Bill Clinton's connection to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump said he'd never visited the island before. Clinton has also denied that he has ever visited the island. Getty Images Charlamagne said party affiliation is irrelevant to the issues associated with Epstein. The co-host of 'The Breakfast Club,' Morgan Wood pushed back on Charlamagne. 'And you know, to that point though, you know, Clinton is not the president right now. You know, if he was, you think that. Anyway, I think he would still be under scrutiny if he was the president right now,' Wood said. 'I don't care what party they are. No. Period. No, he wouldn't because liberal media wouldn't push the issue. Oh, okay. Well, this comes as, speaking of liberal media,' Charlamagne responded.
