2026 5-star DL has canceled his LSU OV after visiting Texas A&M
One of Texas A&M's priority prospects in the 2026 recruiting class took an official visit to College Station this weekend, as five-star defensive lineman Lamar Brown, who was a frequent visitor during the spring period, is inching closer to his commitment date on Thursday, July 10. After was had been deemed as a highly successful visit this weekend, Brown took to social media to deliver a revealing message that could be good news for the Aggies.
"Think this one close the book...."
While coach Mike Elko and his staff have a ways to go to land the highly coveted lineman, things got even more interesting on Sunday night after Brown reportedly canceled his upcoming official visit to LSU on June 20, as the Louisiana native is now likely considering Texas A&M and, possibly Miami or Texas going forward, with the Aggies in the lead.
Again, nothing is set in stone, but knowing that Brown does not have an official visit set up before his July 10 commitment looks like great news for Elko and his staff, would win one of the most significant recruiting battles during my time covering the program.
Regarding the future of Texas A&M's defensive line, which includes 2025 signee Marco Jones, Landon Rink, DJ Sanders, and Chace Sims, adding another elite prospect with NFL potential as soon as he steps on campus is certainly a sign that the Aggies' will dominate in the trenches for the next three seasons.

FSU commit shuts down his recruitment The FSU Seminoles are starting to heat up on the recruiting trail, they are surging for several of their top targets after a busy weekend of official visits. Just as importantly, they are getting their commits to shut down their recruitment. Four-star wide receiver Darryon Williams announced his recruitment was over on Sunday, and three-star cornerback Sean Johnson did the same on Monday. He announced the news on X. "My recruitment is 100% shut down go NOLES," he wrote. He tagged defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. and safeties coach Evan Cooper in the post and included a photo of him and head coach Mike Norvell from his official visit. Johnson is the No. 549 overall player and No. 45 cornerback in the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 10 player from Maryland. While listed as a corner, he is expected to play safety for the Seminoles. He committed to them back on April 10 and is one of three safeties they have committed in their 2026 recruiting class. Former LSU hoops star joins HBCU coaching staff

Grambling, La. - Grambling State just made a power move. Former LSU women's basketball star and high school coaching standout Quianna Chaney is officially joining the GSU Lady Tigers as an assistant coach for the 2025–26 season. With deep Louisiana roots and a résumé that blends elite playing experience with proven coaching success, Chaney's arrival is a big boost for Grambling State - and a major win for HBCU hoops. "When you surround yourself with winners, the conversations are just different," said Grambling head coach Courtney Simmons. "Coach Quianna brings experience, a wealth of knowledge, and an edge I've been missing. GSU Women's Basketball definitely got better today." That's not just talk. Quianna Chaney comes to Grambling after a dominant seven-year run at Southern University Lab School. There she built one of Louisiana's top high school girls basketball programs. Her teams claimed the 2022 Louisiana State Championship, finished as 2023 State Runner-Up, and secured back-to-back district titles. Along the way, she racked up Coach of the Year honors - including District Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and the 2022 Stars of Stars Coach of the Year. But her legacy started long before the sidelines. As a player, Chaney was a certified bucket at LSU from 2004 to 2008. Guiding the Tigers to make four straight NCAA Final Four runs. She left Baton Rouge second in school history in three-pointers made and attempted, tallying 1,345 career points. Her list of accolades includes All-SEC and All-Louisiana honors, Academic All-SEC selections, and a reputation as one of the most lethal shooters in program history. After college, Chaney was drafted 19th overall in the 2008 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky before taking her talents overseas to play for Bota? SK in Turkey. Now, she's bringing that championship DNA back to the college ranks - this time at a proud HBCU. "I am truly excited and blessed to join the Grambling State University Women's Basketball coaching staff," Chaney said. "When God opens new doors, I walk through them with faith and purpose. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of this historic program - it's all about the SWAC now!" One of the fastest two-sport athletes in the country chooses HBCU

Texas Southern University has secured one of the fastest high school athletes in the country. Louisiana state champion Josh Brown has signed with the Texas Southern men's track & field team for the 2025-26 season. The latest proof that HBCU programs aren't just in the race - they're setting the pace in recruiting elite talent. Brown, a native of New Orleans, graduated from Holy Cross High School with a standout track record. He currently holds Louisiana's top times in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Nationally, he ranks fourth in the 200 meters. His 4×100-meter relay team also led the state this season. At the 2025 LHSAA Class 5A Outdoor State Championships, Brown won gold in the 100, 200, and anchored the 4×100 relay team. He also captured the indoor 60-meter title earlier in the year. His performances rewrote the Holy Cross record books. Texas Southern head coach Clyde Duncan Sr. believes Brown will make an immediate impact. Brown also shines in the classroom. He maintains straight A's and has a strong GPA. That maturity, combined with his drive to improve, made him a top target. Brown is also an accomplished football player. He earned all-state and all-district honors in high school. With a strong resume in two sports, he drew interest from numerous colleges across the country. Texas Southern University's family culture played a key role in his decision. Former TSU standout Eric Smith, now a successful high school coach in Louisiana, helped guide Brown during the recruiting process. Head coach Duncan is no stranger to success. He became the first men's track & field coach in over 20 years to win the SWAC trifecta-indoor, outdoor, and cross country-in back-to-back seasons. With Brown now on board, Texas Southern is reloading for another run at history. The addition of Josh Brown supercharges TSU's sprint program while amplifying the growing power of HBCU athletics across the country.
