Ashley Walters, who is best known for roles in Adolescence and Top Boy, has revealed the BBC chose not to include him in a popular series
Ashley Walters, Will Young and Tom Daley joined Clara Amfo and Roman Kemp on The One Show to discuss their upcoming projects.
As talk turned to the shows they all appeared on, Ashley was quizzed over whether he would appear on BBC series Who Do You Think You Are?

However, he shocked hosts Roman and Clara when he revealed he was approached before bosses changed their mind.

Ashley revealed: "I would love to if they let me." Going on to explain his comment, he continued: "Interesting story, they approached me about doing the show and went and did about a year's worth of research and then said, 'no, we're not going to do it.'"
Clara asked: "Any further feedback?" as Ashley replied: "No, they did give me the documents but I haven't read them, I haven't gone into the box yet so I don't know why. I nearly got there but I was on the cusp."

"A new project for next year," Clara suggested. "Go through the archives."
The revelation came as Will Young, who features of the next episode of Who Do You Think You Are? spoke about his experience.
Appearing on The One Show, Will spoke about becoming emotional when he uncovered his family history.

He explained: "I didn't know anything about my grandfather apart from that he died when my Dad was 15 and under questionable circumstances.
"A lot of people had PTSD after the war, we didn't know, my Dad and my Aunt didn't know, that his plane went down at the beginning of the war and he was in a concentration camp for five years, that's all I knew.

"But it was just wonderful - to not spoil it - go from having one grandfather who I knew growing up and now feeling like I have two. I still have this photo in my study and I just feel like I know him.
"I have a tattoo of his plane and his squadron and you start finding similarities with your family - even people you didn't know.
"That's what is real interesting. We had certain characteristics and it was very moving. It was terribly moving for my father and my Aunt because he was sort of portrayed as a bit of a loser and he was literally anything but a loser. My Dad rang me up in tears saying, 'You've given me a father.'"

Daniela, now 57, was beloved as Anna on the smash-hit series, which launched in 1996 and followed a group of five friends as they navigated their twenties after graduating law school. The series saw the gang living together in East London as they try to get their foot on the career ladder, with Anna having a love-hate relationship with Miles (Jack Davenport), whom she had a fling with while studying. Daniela appeared in 32 episodes of the series, before reuniting with the cast in for TV movie This Life +10, marking the show's 10th anniversary in 2006. The role won her a BAFTA for Best Actress in 1998. While she continued to act – starring in multiple episodes of Waterloo Road, plus episodes of Vera and Lewis on her credit list – her performance career later took a backseat to events in her personal life. In 2020, Daniela told the Daily Mail she had endured 'the worst five years of her life', revealing her father died in 2015, she got divorced shortly after, before being diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in 2018, getting a mastectomy. She told the site: 'I went through a very dark period. Sometimes I wonder if it was all the emotional stuff I was going through that caused my cancer. 'A couple of years down the road, I now feel as if I've emerged stronger and a better person really. Anna would be proud.' However, she noted that her time on This Life feels like 'another life now', and doesn't miss the fame that came with it. 'Not because I felt physically I was not right, but I just felt mentally and emotionally not ready,' she explained. 'Acting is a very personal thing for me, as I suppose it is for other actors. But you've only got yourself to use and if there's not much 'self' there to use, it's futile even trying. At its worst, I would have struggled to even remember a line.' Proud of where she is in her life, Daniela said she came forward with her diagnosis in order to encourage others to get their breasts checked. 8 After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Daniela turned to art therapy Credit: Instagram 8 The star won a Bafta for her role in This Life in 1998 Credit: PA:Press Association 'It took a lot of pain and heartache to get here. After launching her CBT practice from her home in Glasgow, Daniela explained that she felt being an actress helped her understand people on a more fundamental level. 'I have worked as an actress for over 35 years. This has been an invaluable education for me to study what it is to be human and how we can all suffer at times and feel misunderstood and lonely,' she wrote on her psychologist bio. I don't shock easily so I won't judge.' 8 This Life launched the career of some of the UK's biggest stars Credit: BBC 8 Daniela credits her acting career for helping her understand people with her new life path Credit: Meridian

Freddy Brazier 'living with grandmother Jackiey Budden' amid dad's legal row

Freddy Brazier has reportedly been living with his grandmother Jackiey Budden for the past week despite her ongoing legal battle with his TV presenter dad Jeff Brazier Freddy Brazier is reportedly living with his grandmother Jackiey Budden - despite his dad Jeff's ongoing legal battle with Jade Goody 's mother. Freddy, who has carved out a career as an influencer, reportedly stayed with Jackiey for a week, despite Jeff's recent attempts to block contact between Freddy and his grandmother. Tension has been brewing between Jeff and Jackiey for many years and last month it came to light that the TV presenter had taken legal action against Jackiey to block her access to Freddy. It was said that Jeff took legal action in a bid to "keep him safe." ‌ According to the Mail on Sunday, Freddy stayed with his grandmother at her flat in Bermondsey. Those close to the family told the publication: "Jeff was never going to keep Freddy away from his Nanny for very long – they've always had a strong bond. Jeff may hate her for all sorts of reasons going back many years, but Freddy loves her very much." ‌ The source added: "They had a great time together, playing with her dog and catching up at her flat – where he has often stayed over the years. Whatever Jeff hoped to achieve with his legal efforts, it hasn't worked." And according to footage from The Sun On Sunday, Jackiey and Freddy were caught smoking dubious looking cigarettes while on a day trip to London's Tower Bridge. ‌ The publication alleged that Jackiey was "acting erratically" oblivious to onlookers and tourists. Jeff's legal action is said to have created even more tension between the pair. At the time it was reported that Jeff had taken legal action, Jackiey claimed to have not known about his decision until it was revealed in a newspaper. ‌ Earlier this year, sources alleged that Freddy and Jeff would get into arguments that were so intense, the youngster would storm off to see his nan. "Freddy will often turn up on the doorstep, sometimes very unhappy, and wanting to see his nan,' a source claimed to the Mail at the time. "He and Jeff often argue, the rows can be bad, things go really, really pear-shaped between them and that's it, he leaves. 'While Jackiey has her issues - and will be the first to admit she isn't the most perfect or archetypal grandmother - he can share his feelings with her which is something he can't do at Jeff's." The family tension was laid bare in 2023 when Jeff put his foot down against Jackiey attending the BBC Strictly Come Dancing studio, to watch her other grandson Bobby Brazier perform. The Mirror

Dani Dyer 'signs up for Strictly' after marrying Jarrod Bowen on emotional day

Dani Dyer has reportedly signed up to take part in this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing after tying the knot with footballer Jarrod Bowen in a lavish wedding this weekend. The 28-year-old, who is the daughter of actor Danny Dyer, is best known for winning Love Island back in 2018. While her romance with Love Island co-star Jack Fincham didn't work out, Dani finally found her happy ending - with the TV star marrying Premier League footballer Jarrod, 28, after they first started dating in 2021. Now, the TV star is rumoured to be taking to the Strictly dancefloor, with reports that she has signed a pre-contract for the show and is currently in pay deal talks. A Strictly insider told The Sun that BBC bosses are "thrilled" that she'll be taking part and are currently "ironing out her fee". They added: "She's bubbly, down-to-earth and straight-talking and producers reckon she'll make an ideal contestant — not to mention the bonus of having Jarrod and dad Danny in the audience supporting her." The Mirror has reached out to Strictly Come Dancing and Dani Dyer's representatives for comment. Mum-of-three Dani wed Jarrod in a low-key ceremony, with Dani stunning in a Suzanne Neville dress that reportedly cost £10,000 and paid for by her parents Danny and Jo. Dani's younger sister Sunnie, 18, gave a special speech on the big day and rea a poem from Sex and The City, according to MailOnline. It read: "His hello was the end of her endings. Her laugh was their first step down the aisle. His hand would be hers to hold forever. His forever was as simple as her smile. He said she was what was missing. She said instantly she knew. She was a question to be answered. And his answer was 'I do.'" Meanwhile, Dani and Jarrod's two-year-old twin daughters Star and Summer were flower girls, while Dani's four-year-old son Santiago who she shares with ex Sammy Kimmence was a page boy alongside Dani's brother Arty, 11. It wasn't an entirely wholesome day however, with the couple's wedding guests singing a hilariously X-rated football chant after their nuptials. As they entered the reception for the first time as husband and wife, their guests began chanting the widely-known West Ham song: "Bowen's on fire, and he's sh***ing Dani Dyer."
