18-Year-Old Dancer Found Dead in Her Home Remembered as the 'Most Vibrant Girl': 'Her Time with Us Was Far Too Short'
An 18-year-old dancer is being remembered by her loved ones following her tragic death.
Layla-Maria Grubb was found dead in her home in Australia on Saturday, July 19, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Her family told the outlet that the teenager died just hours after she was sent home from a hospital following a suspected seizure.
"We all want to know what happened. We are searching for answers," Grubb's mother, Beth Ashton, told the Daily Telegraph.
Grubb studied at the dance company Village Nation. The company's director, Briden Starr, described her as a "healthy, positive, focused girl," per the Daily Mail.
In a heartfelt social media post shared after her daughter's death, Ashton wrote, "Our baby girl left us far too soon."
"Layla-Maria brought so much joy, light, and love into the lives of everyone who knew her. A gorgeous dancer, who moved through life with the same beauty and passion she brought to the stage," she continued. "Her laughter, kindness, and beautiful spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered."
"Though her time with us was far too short, her impact will remain in our hearts, forever 18. ❤️," the grieving mother concluded. "We kindly ask for your thoughts and prayers for our family during this incredibly difficult time."
The JLC Dance Company — which Grubb belonged to in Western Australia — also shared a tribute. The organization said the teen left for Sydney in 2023 to pursue a professional career in dance.
"Layla was on a trajectory to stardom and had immense potential," the JLC Dance Company wrote on Facebook. "Layla was an amazing student, and friend, with a great personality and huge smile that lit up any room."
The group continued: "Layla was an amazing friend to a lot of our staff and students and this devastating news has affected the entire JLC family and everyone that knew Layla for no matter how long, or short.

In a GoFundMe page, Grubb's friends said they wanted to "give Layla the send-off she truly deserves" and celebrate her life in a way "that reflects the incredible love and joy she brought into our lives."
"Layla was pure light — an amazing dancer with an infectious laugh!" the friends continued, also remembering Grubb as "the funniest, goofiest, most vibrant girl you could ever meet, lighting up every room with her laughter and fun."
A funeral service for the dancer will be held in Sydney on Friday, Aug. 1.
Grubb's death investigation has been referred to the New South Wales coroner, local police told PEOPLE.
"Due to the early stage of the matter, we cannot provide further detail at this time," a spokesperson said.

Evil will not define Southport a year on from attack, deputy council leader says
The people of Southport will not 'allow evil to define' them, a year on from a knife attack on a children's dance class. Tuesday marks one year since Axel Rudakubana, who was 17 at the time, entered the Taylor Swift-themed holiday club in Hart Street and fatally injured Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven. In the days following the attack, during which he also attempted to kill eight other children and two adults, violent disorder broke out in the seaside town and across the country. Deputy leader of Sefton Council Paulette Lappin said now the community was looking to move forward in a positive way. She told the PA news agency: 'It still remains beyond belief, even though I know it to be true, and so it's just very sad. 'From sadness, we hope to bring goodness and that's all we can do.' This summer the area outside Southport Town Hall, where hundreds laid floral tributes and a vigil was held last year, is again filled with colourful flowers. The flowers are now in planters which have been put in place ahead of its transformation into legacy gardens, in memory of those who lost their lives in the attack. Councillor Lappin said: 'It will be designed for the enjoyment and the fun of children, so that all children can come and they can all play in here. 'That's what we have to remember, that it is an absolutely terrible tragedy, but we cannot allow evil to define us.' A new playground is also being built at Churchtown Primary School, in memory of Alice and Bebe, who were both pupils. On the anniversary, members of the public are being asked not to lay flowers but to consider making donations to local causes – including funds set up in the names of the victims of the attack and the Southport Strong Together Appeal, which was established last year to support those affected. No large vigil will be held, but a three-minute silence will be observed at 3pm and churches and community centres will be open for those looking for support or space for quiet reflection. Cllr Lappin said plans for the day were guided by the families, who had their 'thoughts, compassion and incredible respect'. Last summer, a recovery fund was set up to help businesses affected by the attack and to support families. Cllr Lappin said the council had worked with the voluntary sector, specialists involved in trauma, community and faith groups and the emergency services over the past year. 'We hope that this is a holistic approach of listening to everybody with respect and dignity so that we can actually move forward together as much as we possibly can,' she said. 'This work is ongoing. It will continue.'

'I am honestly so excited to attend my first Logies ever, and a little nervous as well!' he tells us. 'I have to say I am very excited to hear Jimmy Barnes sing. I've never seen him perform live before, so seeing him in person is going to be a huge honour! I'm also excited to hopefully see some of the crew from Idol, such as Ricki-Lee, the judges, and the production crew as well. 'As for my outfit, I am stuck between an '80s style Farnham look, or a Bruno Mars Silk Sonic look! Who knows what I'll end up wearing though.' Travel Guides Also in attendance will be the cast of Channel 9's Travel Guides, who have won the Logie for Best Lifestyle Program three years running. Malcolm-Jamal Warner tried to save daughter, says Costa Rican police chief
(NewsNation) — A police chief in Costa Rica maintains that Malcolm-Jamar Warner, 54, was trying to save his daughter, who was also in the water, at the time of his drowning. Chief of the Tourist Police of the Atlantic Region Elberth León told Us Weekly that he knows what he saw when arriving at the scene. 'The Red Cross also treated the girl [on site] and she didn't need to go to the clinic,' León said.
