Rohit Sharma Starts Training For Australia ODIs With Former India Assistant Coach
Last Updated: Rohit will captain India in the three-match ODI series against the Australian team. The three ODI matches between India and Australia will be played on October 19, 23 and 25. India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma took to Instagram stories on Tuesday (August 12) to share a picture of him with former Indian men's cricket team assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. In the viral picture, Rohit can be seen in the gym, which is an indication that he has kicked off his preparations for the upcoming India's white-ball tour of Australia. The Indian men's cricket team will travel to Australia in the third week of October to take part in a three-match ODI series, which will be followed by five T20Is between the two teams in Australia. Since Rohit is only active in ODIs now, he will play the three 50-over matches. The series opener is scheduled to take place at Optus Stadium in Perth on October 19, and the next two ODIs will be played in Adelaide and Sydney on October 23 and 25, respectively. Rohit last played an ODI match for India on March 9, 2025, against New Zealand in Dubai. In the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, he opened the innings for India in the 252-run chase and scored 76 runs from 83 balls. For his super show with the bat in the summit clash of the Champions Trophy 2025, he won the Player of the Match award. view comments First Published: August 12, 2025, 21:10 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. 'Missed out badly': AB de Villiers fires shots at IPL teams for ignoring Dewald Brevis during mega auction
has called out franchises for overlooking Dewald Brevis in the IPL 2025 mega auction, branding it a major missed opportunity. 'There was such a golden opportunity for IPL teams to pick up Dewald Brevis! Missed out badly. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now CSK either got very lucky, or maybe the biggest master stroke ever. The boy can play,' De Villiers posted on X. Despite going unsold at the IPL 2025 auction, 'Baby AB' Dewald Brevis was later drafted in by CSK as a replacement player during the season. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Brevis, 22, justified the hype with a stunning unbeaten 125 off 56 balls in South Africa's 53-run win over Australia in the 2nd T20I at Brisbane. His knock, featuring eight sixes and 12 fours, shattered Faf du Plessis' national T20 record of 119, set in 2015. Showcasing an outrageous range of strokes, the 'Baby AB' propelled South Africa to 218/7, despite early wickets. Australia briefly threatened through Tim David's 50 off 24 balls, but once he fell in the 10th over, the hosts crumbled to 165 all out in 17.4 overs. Young pacer Kwena Maphaka starred again with 3/57, dismissing Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, and Mitchell Owen. South Africa's fielding was sharp, highlighted by Nqabayomzi Peter's low diving catch to remove Green. Australia, however, was sloppy in the field. Matthew Kuhnemann dropped Brevis soon after his rapid half-century, and Adam Zampa spilled a chance in the powerplay. Those mistakes proved costly as Brevis accelerated, especially against spinners Maxwell (2/44) and Zampa (1/46), and targeted Josh Hazlewood in the death overs. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Brevis found a key ally in Tristan Stubbs (31 off 22) during a 126-run fourth-wicket stand that took the game away from the Australians. Even a late flurry of wickets couldn't prevent South Africa from posting a match-winning total. Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh was full of praise: 'He is a young, powerful man… an upcoming player in international cricket.' The three-match T20I series now stands level at 1-1, with the decider scheduled for Saturday before the ODI leg begins.
