Keke Palmer reveals the origins of her son's unusual name
The 31-year-old actress - whose real name is Lauren Keyana - welcomed Leodis into the world with her now ex-partner Darius Jackson in February 2023, and revealed that the former NFL star wanted the moniker to be a combination of both of their names.
Speaking on Scott Evans' House Guest podcast, she said: "Darius actually made his name. He wanted both our names, which is so crazy.
"So yeah, that was him trying to put like Darius and Lauren, like Leodis, like it was just too much, but I said, 'Hey, let's do it. It's adorable."
The former Nickelodeon star joked that "anything went" at that time as far as she was concerned because she was pregnant, and then began to admire how the name started to sound as if it carried some sort of historical prestige.
"I was pregnant, anything went. It's adorable, ... and then also it sounded like an old name.
"He sounded like he was marching with [Martin Luther King Jr.]. It's like Leodis Andrellton Jackson. He's gonna be on somebody's campaign."
Keke split from Darius in October 2023, and she obtained a temporary domestic violence restraining order over the "physical and emotional abuse" that she alleged was inflicted on her, but she recently admitted that she felt "grateful" that the two can just co-parent their son together.
Speaking on 'CBS Mornings', she told host Gayle King: "I gotta be honest, I would've never thought that I would be where I am now, and so I'm very grateful that this has now been the outcome and we've been able to coexist in this way and show up for our son, and just be in a different place. It's a real blessing. "That's the best way that I can explain it."
The Nope actress previously admitted that turning 30 had put her in a "different headspace" and she had found "peace" since becoming a mother.
She told PEOPLE: "I do feel like being 30, it's put me in a different head space that's allowed me to kind of feel more observational about my life.
"I'm not so in the weeds of everything. I'm really trusting and having faith that everything will work out as it should. I think so much of that peace has come from my son."

‘Crazy': Tom Brady's son goes viral because of his impressive height
NFL great Tom Brady is being teased online because his teenage son is already taller than him. The 48-year-old, who played in the league for a staggering 23 seasons, posted a bunch of photos of himself and his 17-year-old, Jack, enjoying a father-son golf day. 'Everything still pretty much the same 'round here,' he wrote. Noticeably, Jack is already 6' 5' and towered over Brady, who himself is an impressive 6' 4'. Brady's former teammate Mike Evans was clearly shocked by the photos, asking: 'Is Jack standing on something?' and asked, 'Is Jack standing on something?' 'Jack is way more beastly than you,' another former teammate, Rob Gronkowski, joked. Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin even got in on the action and teased, 'I heard Jack kicked your ass yesterday.' Fans were also stunned to see that Jack is already taller than his old man. 'Wow! He is taller,' one remarked. 'Wow! Jack is really starting to tower over Tom,' someone else said. 'He is taller than you! That is crazy,' another wrote. Brady shares Jack with his ex-girlfriend, actor Bridget Moynahan. He also has two children with his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen: son Benjamin, 15, and daughter Vivian, 12. Not much is known about Jack – who turns 18 on August 22 – beyond the photos Brady proudly shares online, describing his eldest son as the 'sweetest and kindest' person. It's previously been reported that Jack has aspirations of becoming a professional basketball player. The NFL great opened up about the difficulties of parenting late last year at New York City's Fortune global forum. 'Being a parent is probably the hardest job all of us have and we screw up a lot,' he said, adding it was also difficult being the son of an athlete of his calibre. 'To be a boy, it sucks to be Tom Brady's son in so many ways, and I try to empathise with them … I'll be there to support them a lot like my parents did. And I'll be learning along the way right there with them.'

‘No one asked for this': America in meltdown as male cheerleaders hit back
Warning: This article contains language some readers may find offensive Twelve NFL teams have announced they will have male cheerleaders for the 2025 â€' and some fans aren’t happy. The Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens, LA Rams, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers have all announced they will include male cheerleaders for the 2025 season, up from seven last season. Male cheerleaders are not necessarily a new thing at the high school, college and professional levels, these cheerleaders have generally been more about throwing their female counterparts in the air. However, the new crop appear to be doing the same dances as the women, which has left some football fans furious. And the backlash has turned ugly, including homophobic hate directed at the men. Two of the Vikings male cheerleaders have hit back at the online pile on. Blaize Sheik and Louie Conn responded on social media, sharing a photo together in their Vikings uniform with the caption: “Wait … did someone say our name?â€ The reaction was overwhelmingly positive to the post, but it comes after an ugly backlash. Fox News’ Will Cain said “I don’t have anything against male cheerleadersâ€, but argued it was the type of cheerleading they were doing that he had a problem with. “There is something different than what is going on in the NFL,â€ Cain said. “And if we’re really being honest, we’re talking about male cheerleaders being female cheerleaders. That’s what’s happening with these men who are cheering on the Minnesota Vikings.â€ Former Hercules star Kevin Sorbo wrote on X: “I’ve been a Vikings fan all my life … sigh. I need a new team now.â€ Commentator Jesse Kelly commented in response to a video: “Don’t think for a second the enemy is defeated. We have finally begun to fight back. We are finally engaged. Smile about that. But we have much, much work to do.â€ Citizen Free Press tweeted: “No one asked for this. No one wanted this.â€ Another suggested: “Cheer routines like this, are NOT MADE FOR MEN. Look at how contorted his body looks, arched back, poppin his … Co-Ed dance troops have been around for a long time, and the moves are different. This is cosplay.â€ Even former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown posted a homophobic slur in response. But while this was just the tip of the iceberg against, there were plenty more for the move. Former Fox Sports analyst and US TV host Joy Taylor posted: “So teaching kids (that) slavery was not a big deal is acceptable but male cheerleaders is where ‘conservatives’ draw the line. Also this isn’t new so as usual, OUTRAGE over nothing.â€ One fan commented: “The funniest part of all this male cheerleader nonsense is the fact that the NFL has had male cheerleaders for years & no one was mad or cared until they were told to be.â€ Another said: “What y’all are doing is so f***ing important. At a time when rights are being threatened there’s no louder activism then being loud and proud. You guys are f***ing amazing!!!â€ Others also pointed out that former Republican presidents George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan and Dwight D. Eisenhower, as well as Democratic president Franklin D. Roosevelt were all former cheerleaders. Plenty more branded it a MAGA pile on. The Vikings also pointed out that despite threats of fans burning their season tickets over the move, the franchise told NBC News that nobody has followed through. The Vikings have also brushed off the criticism, responding in a statement last week. “While many fans may be seeing male cheerleaders for the first time at Vikings games, male cheerleaders have been part of previous Vikings teams and have long been associated with collegiate and professional cheerleading,â€ the team said in a statement. “In 2025, approximately one-third of NFL teams have male cheerleaders. Every member of the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders program has an impressive dance background and went through the same rigorous audition process. Individuals were selected because of their talent, passion for dance and dedication to elevating the game day experience. We support all our cheerleaders and are proud of the role they play as ambassadors of the organisation.â€ It will be Sheik’s first season as a Vikings cheerleader, news he celebrated back in May. “I am so grateful for this journey, the support, and the opportunity to make a little history along the way,â€ he said. “I hope to represent and inspire what’s possible when you stay true to who you are.â€ Conn was also part of the Iowa State Cyclones dance team until he joined the Vikings this season. The Rams were said to be the first team to have added men to their cheerleading squad in 2018. The New Orleans Saints announced they would have 13 men on their 2025 Saints Cheer Krewe roster.

NFL star Justin Herbert and pop star Madison Beer spark dating buzz
There's just something about an NFL player and a pop star getting together. Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and singer Madison Beer were all smiles while chatting together on the set of her video shoot in LA on Sunday, as seen in photos obtained by The Post. It appears the Pro Bowler, 27, visited Beer, 26, on set, with paparazzi shots showing the singer introducing Herbert to members of the crew at a house in Hancock Park. Beer, who is a native of Long Island, was seen holding a gold heart locket as the pair chatted together. The brunette beauty also donned white angel wings and a corset top while filming outdoors. Herbert and Beer reportedly left the set together. Beer is rumoured to be filming a new music video, marking her first project since her 2024 singles Make You Mine and 15 MINUTES. The nature of Herbert's relationship with Beer is unclear. The quarterback hasn't publicly dated anyone and is fairly private about his personal life. Beer and TikTok star Nick Austin were the subject of break-up rumours last October when fans noticed they unfollowed each other on Instagram. The couple was first linked in 2020. During an April 2025 interview with Cosmopolitan, Beer gushed over Austin's support of her career. 'I know he's going to support me, but do I think that he knows or I know or my parents know or my brother knows how we're going to feel or go through it if and when that does happen? No,' she said of her next big career moment. Beer also called herself a 'lover girl' when discussing her take on relationships. 'I love people. I meet someone, I love them,' she said. 'I'm like, 'OK, I'm never letting you go. You'll be with me forever until you hurt me.' That's the deal.' 'Because I have such a weird life and never feel safe and comfortable with someone, when I cross that line of 'you're my boyfriend,' it feels really big.' Herbert is currently preparing for his sixth season in the league. He and the Chargers open the season against the Chiefs in Brazil on September 5.
