Aamir Khan's team has finally responded to fake posters of the actor depicting him as Guru Nanak. Over the past two days, fake AI-generated images of the actor dressed as the Sikh Guru have been going viral. The actor's team has finally taken cognisance of the photos and issued an official statement, firmly noting that while he holds great respect for Guru Nanak, he has no connection to the images circulating online. The response comes amid the photos creating a stir on social media.
The official statement from Aamir Khan 's team read: 'The poster showing Aamir Khan as Guru Nanak is completely fake and AI generated. Aamir Khan has no connection to any such project. He holds the highest respect for Guru Nanak and would never be part of anything disrespectful. Please don't fall for fake news."
The circulation of fake images showing Aamir Khan as Guru Nanak quickly snowballed into an online controversy. Several social media users criticised the actor's casting as Baba Nanak. Amid this, Pritpal Singh Baliawal, Senior Spokesperson BJP Punjab, addressed Aamir's fake images. In an X thread, he called out how the miscreants used a fake T-Series logo for authenticity. 'Strongly condemn the fake poster & teaser showing Amir Khan portraying Guru Nanak Dev Ji! This is a deliberate, disgusting attack on Sikh religious sentiments and a clear attempt to provoke the Sikh community. The fake channel is misusing @TSeries' name to spread hatred, defame Sikhism, and create conflict. This is a serious conspiracy to disturb communal harmony! (sic)," he wrote.
He tagged Punjab Police and Indian cyber cell's official X handles and urged them to immediately trace the 'IP & MAC addresses, locate the culprits, and take strictest criminal action." The politician's angry post continued, 'Those who insult Sikh Gurus must face zero tolerance and severe punishment! @AKPPL_Official — your face is being MISUSED to hurt Sikh sentiments. You must publicly condemn this! (sic)"
'Sikhism strictly forbids any portrayal of our Gurus. We will not allow anyone to insult our faith, directly or indirectly (sic)," he wrote, while urging strict and immediate action be taken in the matter.
