Comedy legend Don Rickles got fed up with Martin Scorsese during filming of 'Casino' 30 years ago, the Oscar-winning director revealed. He couldn't, because I was driving him crazy. I'm telling him, 'Don, I'll be ready in an hour. Two hours, three hours later, he was still waiting for us. He was dying. 'Get me out of here!'' But the director and De Niro mostly shared fond memories of Rickles, who died in 2017. Born in Queens, the comic became a Vegas headliner with the help of friend Frank Sinatra and was eventually synonymous with Sin City. 'Don was really a sweet guy, everybody knew that,' De Niro, 81, said. 'And his style — he could be right on when he was acerbic and insulting, but, you know, deep down he was… a sweet guy.' They were filming at difficult hours in a working casino that even advertised that the famous names were there. 'It said, 'Come and watch the shooting: Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Don Rickles — appearing now!' Advertisement Scorsese added: 'I go in, and my A.D., Joseph Reidy, he looked at me, and he said, 'Are you ready?' I said, 'Yes, yes. What's the problem?' He opened the door. A wall of sound.' HBO Releases Trailer for 'Surviving Ohio State' Documentary
Source: Getty Images A new HBO documentary is set to pull the curtain back on one of the darkest chapters in Ohio State University's history. Surviving Ohio State , produced by George Clooney and directed by Oscar and Emmy winner Eva Orner, premieres June 17th on HBO and will stream on Max. The project has been in development for years and features interviews with several former Buckeye athletes who say they were abused by Dr. Richard Strauss during his time as a university physician from 1978 to 1998. RELATED: Buckeyes Visit the White House, JD Vance Fumbles Trophy [PHOTOS] The trailer, which dropped June 5th, gives a preview of what's to come: firsthand accounts from survivors, including former All-American wrestler and UFC champ Mark Coleman. The film also features stories from Adam and Michael DiSabato, Will Knight, Al Novakowski, Rockey Ratliff, Dan Ritchie, and Mike Schyck; athletes whose names many in the OSU community will recognize. Strauss died by suicide in 2005. By then, he had already faced years of internal complaints that largely went ignored. Though the State Medical Board of Ohio opened an investigation in 1996, it stalled and was quietly closed in 2002 without any disciplinary action. A deeper, public acknowledgement of the abuse didn't begin until 2018, when new complaints surfaced and the university launched an independent investigation. That uncovered abuse allegations from more than 170 students. The documentary is based in part on a 2020 Sports Illustrated article by Jon Wertheim, who also serves as an executive producer. 'We got Harrison Ford because Harrison Ford is the kind of person you make an offer to so that for three days you can say, 'We've made an offer to Harrison Ford,' and then you'll pick the real guy,' Segel said on Thursday. 'He read it, and he didn't know anything about me,' the 'How I Met Your Mother' star continued. 'Brett Goldstein met with him, and they had a really nice meeting, and they sent him 'The End of the Tour' and 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall.'' 7 Segel began by telling Rogen how the producers of 'Shrinking' convinced Ford to sign on to the Apple TV+ show. Segel previously opened up about the surprising scene in 2015 and revealed that he was the one who came up with the idea. 'I thought that was hilarious,' he told Vulture at the time. 'I was actually not very uncomfortable doing it. I really felt free.' 7 'I'm in,' Segel recalled Ford saying. Even more surprising was Segel's admission that the full frontal idea was inspired by a similar incident that had actually happened to him in real life years before. One person who didn't enjoy Segel's nude scene was his mother, who was blindsided when she watched it at the movie premiere. 'She said, 'Why didn't you tell me?'' the recalled last year. 'I said, 'I thought it would be a funny joke.' She said, 'This is not a funny joke.'' 7 This wouldn't be the first time that the 'Indiana Jones' star complimented his 'Shrinking' co-star's manhood. The show, which premiered in January 2023 and concluded its second season in December, follows Segel's character in the wake of his wife's death. It also follows Ford's character as he battles Parkinson's disease. 'There's no intention to make it into a joke,' Ford said of his character's startling diagnosis during an interview late last year. 'But there are people that absorb these kinds of experiences with grace and courage and a little bit of wisdom,' he added. 'And that is not to say that some people do not.'
