Bengaluru gets 3 more police divisions: here's the list of police stations under them
The three new divisions of North West, South West and Electronic City will join the existing Central, West, East, South, Southeast, North, Northeast and Whitefield divisions. This expansion of the city police commissionerate was first announced by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the annual state budget in March.
Presently, Bengaluru has a population of 1.4 crore people and is the third most populous city in the country after Delhi and Mumbai. Presently, there are 111 law and order police stations, 53 traffic, eight women, eight CEN (Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics) and one cybercrime police station.
According to the government order, each new division will be headed by a deputy commissioner of police, supported by one assistant sub-inspector of police, five head constables, six police constables, and 11 additional support staff members.
The North West division will include Peenya sub-division under an assistant commissioner of police (ACP), encompassing six police stations: Peenya, Rajagopal Nagar, Bagalagunte, Byadarahalli, Soladevanahalli and Gangammanagudi.
The South West division will operate two subdivisions—Kengeri and Subramanyapura—each headed by ACPs. This division will oversee eight police stations: Kengeri, Jnanabharati, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Kumbalgodu, Thalaghattapura, Subramanyapura, Kumaraswamy Layout and Konanakunte.
The Electronic City division will function as a single sub-division, managing six police stations: Electronic City, Hulimavu, Beguru, Parappana Agrahara, Bandepalya and Hebbagodi.
The order also implements structural changes to existing subdivisions to accommodate the new divisional framework, ensuring better coordination and coverage across Bengaluru's rapidly growing urban landscape.

Karnataka Labour Minister Santosh Lad has written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar urging the creation of a special 'fund-of-funds' to support young industrialists from Other Backward Classes (OBC) his letter dated July 26, Lad cited data from the 2015 Social and Educational Survey, which showed that OBCs make up 70% of Karnataka's population. Bank credit on the rise in rural Odisha: Centre
BHUBANESWAR: Union minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that rural and tribal regions of Odisha have recorded a positive growth in the priority sector lending over the last three years. Replying to a query from BJD MP Sasmit Patra, the Union minister said the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of bank credit in Odisha over the last three years is 11.41 per cent while tribal districts like Kandhamal, Koraput and Malkangiri have recorded CAGR of 8.28 pc, 11.79 pc, and 14.25 pc respectively. Chaudhary said the credit deployment at district level is guided by the annual credit plan (ACP) finalised by the state level bankers' committee (SLBC) based on the potential linked credit plan (PLP) prepared by NABARD. The ACP outlines district-wise and sector-specific targets for priority sector lending, covering agriculture, MSMEs, and rural development and is finalised in consultation with banks and the state government to ensure alignment with national and state-level financial inclusion objectives. He said the cumulative achievement under the ACP over the last three years stands at 94 pc for Malkangiri, 93 pc for Koraput and 92 pc for Kandhamal, indicating consistent credit deployment in line with approved targets. In order to enhance banking outreach and credit flow in these regions, various initiatives have been undertaken, including the conduct of credit outreach programmes and financial literacy camps in backward blocks and tribal clusters, deployment of business correspondents (BCs) and customer service points for sourcing and servicing credit, and strengthened monitoring through district consultative committees and DLRCs. In addition to credit expansion, financial infrastructure in these districts has been strengthened over the past three years. In Kandhamal, the number of BCs rose from 351 to 701 and ATMs from 76 to 88. Similarly, Koraput saw BCs increase from 464 to 1,018, and bank branches from 135 to 148. In Malkangiri, BCs rose from 325 to 559. These enhancements have improved last-mile access to banking services in remote and tribal regions. On credit to deposit (CD) ratio in rural and tribal areas, the Union minister said SLBC conducted assessment on a quarterly basis and issued necessary instructions to banks to improve their performance.

BJP predicts ‘Diwali dhamaka' amid ‘vertical split' in ruling Congress
Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP President B Y Vijayendra on Wednesday claimed a 'vertical split' within the ruling Congress over the Chief Minister change issue and predicted 'Diwali dhamaka' as all is not seemingly well in the grand old party. He alleged that the CM is struggling to retain the confidence of the legislators, who have lost faith in him. The BJP leader's remarks come amid speculation in the state's political circles about a leadership change later this year, fuelled by a power-sharing agreement between incumbent CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar. 'There is a completely vertical split between Congress MLAs in Karnataka. Most of the legislators who are unhappy with CM Siddaramaiah due to lack of development activities are not being taken into confidence. MLAs are upset and publicly attacking the Chief Minister on various issues,' Vijayendra said in response to a question. Speaking to reporters here, he said, 'Shivakumar is seen as Chief Minister in waiting. Few MLAs want Shivakumar as CM, few want Mallikarjun Kharge (AICC President), and some want Siddaramaiah to continue. -This confusion has created a vertical split within the ruling Congress party in Karnataka. We have been saying that this Diwali, I think there will be a big dhamaka within the Congress party.' The saffron party chief claimed differences not only between the CM and his deputy, but also among legislators in the ruling party, who 'have lost trust' in the Chief Minister. 'The CM who is perturbed by this is trying to take the legislators into confidence by announcing Rs 50 crore to each ruling party MLA for developmental works in their constituency, which has not been released yet....' he said. Reiterating that there will be Diwali dhamaka in Karnataka, Vijayendra said, 'We have been saying it for a long time. The information that we are getting from corridors of power is that all is not well within the Congress party. Russia-Ukraine war may stop, but this much is true that the war here (in Karnataka Congress) is beginning.'
