Cillian Murphy and Daniel Craig in talks for prison drama
It is reported that Cillian Murphy and Daniel Craig are in negotiations to star in a prison drama from La La Land and Whiplash director Damien Chazelle.
US entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter says the film has been described as "a two-hander set in a prison" with a production start eyed for later this year.
The news was first reported by the US entertainment trade publication Deadline.
The Hollywood Reporter says Chazelle had been working on a planned Leonardo DiCaprio-starring biopic of the stunt rider Evel Knievel but has since pivoted to the prison project.
"At one point, Chazelle was working with DiCaprio on the prison project before the two focused on Knievel," The Hollywood Reporter adds.
Murphy was seen on cinema screens in Small Things Like These last year and has since completed filming on the Peaky Blinders movie.

Sabrina Carpenter appears to take a savage swipe at ex Barry Keoghan in new song
Singer Sabrina Carpenter appears to have taken a savage swipe at her ex Barry Keoghan in her latest single. 'Manchild' is the US star's latest single and the blonde bombshell appears to have written it about the Dubliner, who she split with earlier this year. The 'Espresso' hitmaker, 26, took to Instagram to share a clip of her hitch-hiking in a cheeky pair of denim hot pants to announce the new track, which is out Thursday. Although she didn't name the 'Saltburn' actor, 32, she hinted in the caption: 'this one's about you!! 'Manchild' is out this Thursday 6/5 (sic)". The exes were first linked in late 2023 and made their relationship public at the Met Gala in May 2024, before they split in December 2024. The new song follows Sabrina's 2024 Grammy-winning 'Short n' Sweet' album, which was followed by February's deluxe edition, which featured a duet of 'Please Please Please' with Dolly Parton and a new song called 'Busy Woman'. Meanwhile, the pint-sized pop star is being lined up to star in 'Mamma Mia! 3'. The 'Taste' hitmaker is wanted by producer Judy Craymer to star in the third movie based on the ABBA musical of the same name in a role connected to the late Donna Sheridan–Carmichael (Meryl Streep). Craymer told Deadline: "She'd be a goddess or some relation who would look very much like Meryl Streep." Sabrina is known to be a huge fan of ABBA and has performed some of the legendary Swedish group's hits on her 'Short n' Sweet Tour'.

Austrian daily under fire after Clint Eastwood slams 'phony' interview
An Austrian newspaper came under fire on Tuesday after Hollywood star Clint Eastwood said an alleged interview with him published by the paper to mark his 95th birthday was "entirely phony". The row was sparked by a purported interview with the Oscar-winning actor and director carried by the German-language Kurier newspaper last Friday. In the interview, which was picked up widely by American media over the weekend, Eastwood criticises a lack of fresh ideas in the current film industry as "we live in an era of remakes and franchises". "I long for the good old days when screenwriters wrote films like Casablanca in small bungalows on the studio lot. When everyone had a new idea," he was quoted as saying. "My philosophy is, do something new or stay at home," it adds. In a statement to Deadline magazine published on Monday, Eastwood said "I thought I would set the record straight". "I can confirm I've turned 95. I can also confirm that I never gave an interview to an Austrian publication called Kurier, or any other writer in recent weeks, and that the interview is entirely phony," he added. Contacted by AFP, the editorial team of the Vienna-based newspaper, which has a circulation of around 100,000, said it had "only heard about the accusation this morning". It has since added a note to the interview published online, saying it is "currently investigating the matter, which will take some time due to the time difference with the United States".

'Entirely phony': Clint Eastwood calls viral interview a fabrication
Clint Eastwood has claimed that a recent interview with him which went viral is a fabrication. Quotes from an alleged interview with the Oscar-winning actor and director had gone viral over the weekend and were picked up by a number of sites. Yet Mr Eastwood has now said that he never spoke to anyone from German-language Austrian newspaper Kurier. 'A couple of items about me have recently shown up in the news,' Eastwood said in a statement released to Deadline. 'I thought I would set the record straight. I can confirm I've turned 95. "I can also confirm that I never gave an interview to an Austrian publication called Kurier, or any other writer in recent weeks, and that the interview is entirely phony.' Mr Eastwood, who turned 95 over the weekend, had been originally quoted as saying he was in pre-production on his new movie and had rallied against 'an era of remakes and franchises'. Kurier is based in Vienna and has a circulation of approximately 100,000 copies. There is no official statement from Kurier or any details on how the interview was assembled. Mr Eastwood's most recent film Juror #2, which starred Nicholas Hoult, was released at the end of last year with no confirmed word on what his next film will be. In an interview to support the film with the Metrograph magazine, he addressed his legacy as a film-maker. 'That would be up to them, to the audiences, to answer,' he said. 'Up to the people on the outside. I just kind of go along. I consider this, again, emotional. It comes upon you. You have a story, you make a movie of it. You have to just go for it. "If you think too much about how it happened you might ruin it. I go back and look at films I've made, and I could easily ask, 'Why the heck did I make this?' I don't remember! It might have been a long time ago.' Mr Eastwood had recently paid tribute to co-star Gene Hackman after Hackman's death in February. 'There was no finer actor than Gene,' he said. 'Intense and instinctive. Never a false note.' He added: 'He was also a dear friend whom I will miss very much.' - The Guardian Read More Gene Hackman: A character actor who was spellbinding as tough guys and fools
