Bengaluru Metro commuters in a muddle over two Yellow Line station names
The confusion centres around two stations: Electronics City and Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara. The names, passengers said, do not match the common understanding or BMTC bus stop names. BMTC's 'Konappana Agrahara' stop corresponds to 'Electronics City' in the Metro, while BMTC's 'Electronics City' stop is called 'Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara' in the Metro.
'Day 2 Yellow line RV road to Infosys station was a breeze, 30 mins! However, there's a lot of confusion among 2 station names, Electronics city & Infosys foundation Konappana Agrahara station, ideally it should be swapped (sic),' commuter Shilpa Rao posted.
Another passenger, Shailesh S Poojary, said the discrepancy not only confuses commuters but also causes 'identity loss' for well-known locations. 'BMTC stop Konappana Agrahara is named Electronic City in metro, and BMTC stop Electronic City is named Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara in metro. This creates confusion & identity loss (sic),' he posted on social media.
While many hailed the 30-minute travel time from RV Road to Infosys station as a game-changer, passengers said the station name confusion dampens the experience. With more people expected to use the Yellow Line in the coming weeks, regular users are urging Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to act swiftly.

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) on Tuesday rolled out feeder bus services to improve first- and last-mile connectivity for the newly launched Yellow Line. Inaugurated by Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, the service will run 96 daily trips with 12 buses covering six stations -- Hosur Road, Beretena Agrahara, Electronics City, Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, Hebbagodi and Bommasandra.
BMTC said the initiative will ease commuter travel in the tech corridor.

BMTC introduces electric Vayu Vajra buses to Bengaluru airport
Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has launched 320 fully electric air-conditioned buses under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model, which will cater to commuters heading to the Kempegowda International Airport and other parts of the city. The new fleet includes 235 buses for Vajra city services, and 85 for Vayu Vajra airport services. In the first phase, 10 electric Vayu Vajra buses will be deployed from August 14, operating on 11 routes connecting different parts of Bengaluru to Kempegowda International Airport. Passenger-friendly features include 35 high-back seats, wheelchair access, USB charging ports, CCTV cameras, panic buttons, kneeling mechanisms, and voice-enabled LED destination boards. 'Safety systems such as fire detection, rear camera reverse assist, and regenerative braking are also incorporated,' an official said. 'Currently, 156 Vayu Vajra schedules run 1,061 one-way trips daily, covering 50,776 km, and serving about 14,000 passengers. The addition of electric buses is expected to improve comfort, reduce emission, and enhance operational efficiency,' the official added. BMTC has established opportunity charging points at key locations, including Central Silk Board, Kadugodi Bus Stand, Depot-7, and KIA. At the airport, nine chargers with a total capacity of 240 kW have been installed at P7 parking, powered by a 1,400 KVA high-tension connection. 'The ₹1.5-crore infrastructure investment by BMTC was supported by the airport authority, which provided space free of cost,' the official explained. BMTC has an average daily ridership of 44 lakh across 6,217 buses, including 1,535 electric vehicles.

Kolkata Metro Set To Roll Out Three New Routes By Month-End

Metro Railway Kolkata is optimistic about starting operations on three new stretches by the end of this month, a senior Metro official said on Wednesday. The progress gained momentum following a two-day visit by Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar, during which he inspected the East-West Metro's Esplanade–Sealdah section and the Noapara–Airport stretch. 'We are hopeful that with the Commissioner of Railway Safety giving nod to the East-West Metro's 2.6 km stretch between Esplanade and Sealdah earlier and after the visit of the Railway Board Chairman, the entire Green Line connecting Howrah Maidan–Salt Lake Sector V will be open for commuters by August itself," the spokesperson told PTI. 'This will help Salt Lake-bound commuters who currently have to get down at Esplanade from the Howrah side and then navigate congested traffic to reach Sealdah for a connecting metro to Sector V. It will ease their hardships and improve connectivity to a great extent," the spokesperson added. Similarly, the Yellow Line's first phase — the Noapara–Airport corridor — and the Orange Line's Hemanta Mukhopadhyay (Ruby More)–Beleghata corridor, covering 4.5 km, have received all mandatory clearances and are now awaiting the PMO's nod to start operations by September, he said. Bengaluru: Namma Metro Breaks Record As Yellow Line Debut Draws Over 10 Lakh Commuters
Last Updated: BMRCL officials revealed they had initially estimated a modest turnout of 25,000 to 30,000 commuters for the Yellow Line's opening day. Karnataka Chief Minister on Wednesday announced that Namma Metro set a new 'single day' record with 10.48 lakh people travelling on the network a day after the Yellow Line was launched. The record was set on August 11, said Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), a joint venture floated by the Government of India and the Karnataka government, to build, operate and expand the Namma Metro network. Sources from BMRCL said the agency had only expected a turnout of 25,000 to 30,000 people as there are only three train sets. But the opening day saw three times more people using the Yellow Line. 'With 4,51,816 people travelling on the Purple Line, 2,91,677 on the Green Line, 52,215 on the Yellow Line and 2,52,323 on the Interchange, Namma Metro has now become the lifeline of transportation for Bengaluru residents," wrote the CM in microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.
