Kansas City man sentenced for stabbing man to death with screwdriver
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 34-year-old Kansas City man was sentenced on Friday for in 2023.
Phillip Lacy was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty , according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson.
Driver never found after multi-county chase ends in crash in KCK
Lacy was sentenced to 15 years for voluntary manslaughter and three years for armed criminal action.
The deadly stabbing happened Nov. 10, 2023, at a vacant building near 24th Street and Elmwood Avenue.
Court records say someone called 911, saying someone had been stabbed about 15-20 times. When police arrived, first responders took the victim, later identified as 52-year-old Bryan Hoover, to the hospital, where he later died.
A witness told detectives she, Hoover and Lacy were inside the vacant building when Hoover and Lacy allegedly got into a fight. The witness said Lacy then stabbed Hoover with a screwdriver.

Police took Lacy into custody in March 2024 on an unrelated call for service. In an interview with detectives, Lacy denied any knowledge of Hoover's death or being in the building that night.

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) — A man has been found guilty of strangling his pregnant wife in front of her daughter in Newark, N.J., the prosecutor's office of Essex County announced Friday. Milton Chogllo, a 31-year-old from Newark, was found guilty by a jury of second- and third-degree aggravated assault, according to court documents. More Local News According to an investigation on March 5, 2023, Chogllo strangled and beat his 32-year-old wife outside their home on Bergen Street. At the time of the assault, the victim was six months pregnant, authorities said. The woman's 14-year-old daughter witnessed the assault, police said. Man charged with assault for allegedly attacking and strangling neighbor

MURRAY, Utah () — A Murray man has been charged with assault after banging on his neighbor's door and allegedly physically attacking him when he came outside. Bryan M Barrios, 31, was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor assault, threat of violence, property damage, and public intoxication. On May 21, 2025, just before 9 p.m., a Murray City police officer was called to a disturbance near Regal Street in Murray. When the officer arrived, a group of people were standing outside and pointed out a man they said had attacked them. Two inmates charged for allegedly stabbing 'rival gang member' at Utah State Prison One person, the victim, was bleeding from several injuries and had a red mark and abrasion on his neck, according to the officer's arrest statement. The victim told the officer that his neighbor, Barrios, had begun banging on his door loudly, damaging the doorframe from the impact. When the victim opened the door to speak with him, documents say Barrios began yelling at him and physically attacked him. The victim recalled Barrios saying, 'I'm going to f– kill you!' and wrapping his arm around his neck to strangle him. According to documents, surveillance footage of the altercation showed Barrios attempting to strangle the victim, causing him to fall to the ground. Barrios then made a second attempt to strangle him, but the victim managed to pin Barrios' arms to his chest and stop the physical attack. The officer who apprehended Barrios reported that he smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated. Barrios was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and was charged by the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office on June 6. Hillsborough County deputies make arrests in shooting that injured teen
The Brief Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office have made arrests in connection with a shooting that injured a teenager on Wednesday. Detectives said they found evidence connected to the shooting inside a bedroom belonging to a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old. A 38-year-old man was also arrested for driving with a suspended license when deputies said they found him driving the vehicle linked to the suspected shooter. PROGRESS VILLAGE, Fla. - Two teenage felons have been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured a teenager on Wednesday. The backstory According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies went to the area of South 81st Street and Fir Drive shortly before 12:40 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found a teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to HCSO, a Glock .40 caliber handgun recovered from inside the home was ballistically matched to the casings recovered at the scene of the shooting.
