FrancoFilm Festival Returns for Third Edition
Bahrain will welcome movie lovers this weekend as the FrancoFilm Festival returns for its third edition at EPIX Cinemas in Dana Mall, Manama.
Organised by the Embassy of France to the Kingdom of Bahrain and Alliance Française Bahrain, the festival runs from May 17th to 22nd and promises a vibrant celebration of francophone cinema.
A diverse lineup of films in French and from French-speaking countries will be shown, highlighting cinematic works from Africa, America, Asia, and Europe.
Participating nations include Armenia, Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, Côte d'Ivoire, Cyprus, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Switzerland, Tunisia, and Vietnam.
Screenings will take place daily at 5 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9 p.m. Admission is free, with English subtitles provided for most films.
The full schedule will be released shortly. All screenings at EPIX Cinemas, except the opening night, will be walk-in, subject to seat availability.
Special events planned
The festival opening, under the patronage of H.E. Eric Giraud Telme, Ambassador of France to Bahrain, is set for May 18th at 7 p.m. and will feature 'The Count of Monte Cristo' ('Le Comte de Monte Cristo'), directed by Alexandre de la Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte.
The film has attracted nearly 10 million viewers in France.
In a unique collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the festival will also present 'La Ville Louvre' by Nicolas Philibert at Bahrain National Museum on May 22nd at 6 p.m., marking International Museum Day.
Family-friendly experience
The FrancoFilm Festival aims to engage families with special children's movies shown in the EPIX Cinemas' dedicated Kids cinema auditorium, Kinder, which includes a play area.
The initiative encourages young audiences to discover the creativity of French-speaking animators.
Organisers say the festival, inspired by the energy of last year's 19th Francophonie Summit at Villers-Cotterêts, celebrates the vitality and artistic breadth of global French-language cinema.ic

France, Bahrain Boost Film Ties

The top prize is a fully funded one-month summer school at ESRA's Paris campus in July 2026, including flights, accommodation, and tuition. Organisers say the scholarship offers a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the French film industry and build international networks.

Manama Hosts Sharjah Youth Delegation at Youth 2030 City
TDT | Manama Youth 2030 City welcomed a delegation from the 'Quarter Century' institutions in Sharjah, UAE, which focus on developing leaders and innovators. The delegation is visiting Bahrain as part of a youth cultural exchange program organized by Sharjah's 'Nash'at' and 'Sajaya Girls,' including members of Sharjah Youth Shura in its ninth parliamentary session (2025–2026). Director Kamal Inaugurates Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam Children's Wing Activities
TDT | Manama Renowned Malayalam film director Kamal officially inaugurated the new committee activities and inducted the executive committee of the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) Children's Wing in Manama. The event showcased a vibrant display of young talent and cultural programs. A children's play titled "Little Pulga," directed by Hareesh Menon and written by Firoz Thiruvathra, was staged as part of the program, drawing significant appreciation. Other notable performances included a Kamal Tribute Song presented by the Children's Wing members, and a "Cine Talk" segment, directed by Hashim Charumood, featuring performances by the younger children of the wing.
