FrancoFilm Festival Returns for Third Edition

Bahrain will welcome movie lovers this weekend as the FrancoFilm Festival returns for its third edition at EPIX Cinemas in Dana Mall, Manama.
Organised by the Embassy of France to the Kingdom of Bahrain and Alliance Française Bahrain, the festival runs from May 17th to 22nd and promises a vibrant celebration of francophone cinema.
A diverse lineup of films in French and from French-speaking countries will be shown, highlighting cinematic works from Africa, America, Asia, and Europe.
Participating nations include Armenia, Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, Côte d'Ivoire, Cyprus, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Switzerland, Tunisia, and Vietnam.
Screenings will take place daily at 5 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9 p.m. Admission is free, with English subtitles provided for most films.
The full schedule will be released shortly. All screenings at EPIX Cinemas, except the opening night, will be walk-in, subject to seat availability.
Special events planned
The festival opening, under the patronage of H.E. Eric Giraud Telme, Ambassador of France to Bahrain, is set for May 18th at 7 p.m. and will feature 'The Count of Monte Cristo' ('Le Comte de Monte Cristo'), directed by Alexandre de la Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte.
The film has attracted nearly 10 million viewers in France.
In a unique collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the festival will also present 'La Ville Louvre' by Nicolas Philibert at Bahrain National Museum on May 22nd at 6 p.m., marking International Museum Day.
Family-friendly experience
The FrancoFilm Festival aims to engage families with special children's movies shown in the EPIX Cinemas' dedicated Kids cinema auditorium, Kinder, which includes a play area.
The initiative encourages young audiences to discover the creativity of French-speaking animators.
Organisers say the festival, inspired by the energy of last year's 19th Francophonie Summit at Villers-Cotterêts, celebrates the vitality and artistic breadth of global French-language cinema.ic

'Films have the ability to reach hearts and minds,' her research notes, adding that blending narrative power with scientific insight can make complex medical issues more relatable and actionable. AI and Neuro-Medicine The study draws from innovation theory, artificial intelligence, business modelling, and neuro-medicine to argue that merging these fields can benefit not just patient education but also pharmaceutical companies seeking sustainable, socially impactful ways to engage with the public. Abdelaal's model also outlines a revenue-sharing mechanism to make such collaborations financially viable for both industries. TDT | Manama More than 150 digital works by young Bahrainis lit up the big screen at EPIX Cinemas this week, capping the final stage of 'The Challenge' competition under the Bahrainouna national values campaign. The screening brought together students, creatives, and civil society representatives to celebrate youth-driven content expressing themes of national belonging, loyalty, and pride. The showcased submissions were selected from a wide range of entries submitted across the Kingdom's governorates in recent months. Youth creativity General Supervisor of the Bahrainouna Executive Office, Major General Mohammed bin Daina, praised the initiative's success in connecting national values with digital storytelling. 'The showcase vividly embodied the voices, values, and aspirations of young creators,' he said, crediting the project's impact to its outreach across youth clubs, schools, and civil society. He also extended special thanks to EPIX Cinemas and Zain Bahrain for their collaboration in providing a platform to amplify youth voices through media. The competition had its roots in interactive regional tours earlier this year, where workshops and events introduced the campaign's mission and encouraged youth to express national themes using digital tools. Public voting and expert panels were used to evaluate submissions, ensuring broad community participation. Community effort 'The Challenge' formed part of a broader campaign that included the Bahrainouna exhibition held in Seef Mall in May. That event featured themed zones covering heritage, innovation, volunteerism, and entrepreneurship. These elements reinforced the message of national engagement through diverse mediums. The cinematic finale at EPIX marked a proud closing chapter in a months-long journey of youth-led storytelling, community pride, and digital innovation in the service of national identity.
