Honey Boo Boo goes to war with Mama June as she slams her over 'transactional' love in shocking biopic trailer

Daily Mail25-04-2025

Alana ' Honey Boo Boo ' Thompson comes out swinging in the emotional first trailer for her upcoming Lifetime biopic I Was Honey Boo Boo.
Now 19, the former child pageant queen-turned-reality star is ready to set the record straight about what was really going on behind the scenes of her flashy TV life.
In the trailer, released Thursday, Honey Boo Boo slams her mother Mama June Shannon, accusing her of offering only 'transactional' love throughout her childhood.
'It was always the same thing: I wanted Mama, but her love was only transactional,' Thompson says in a voiceover.
The trailer offers a behind-the-scenes look at the darker side of her rise to fame, including the pressures placed on her from a young age.
In one scene, Mama June — who recently admitted to spending $30,000 of Alana's earnings but denied any wrongdoing — urges her to 'show more skin,' revealing just how much pressure was put on her to perform.
According to Lifetime's official synopsis, the film will explore how Alana's trademark confidence 'concealed the harsh reality of constant criticism and family struggles,' particularly with Mama June.
'For the first time,' she declares in the final moments of the clip, 'I feel free.'
The trailer comes a month after Mama June was seen goading her daughter over 'stealing' $30,000 of her fortune in the explosive new trailer for their show Family Crisis.
She said: 'Where's my money' leading a grinning Shannon to pull out a huge plastic check for $30,000.
Shannon responds: 'The check is right here' as a distraught Alana says off-camera: 'This isn't a game!'
In April 2024 Mama June admitted she spent $30,000 of daughter Alana's money on 'life expenses' including manicures and household bills - while continuing to shut down criticism for not contributing to her college fund.
Alana was particularly upset by the news regarding her finances, and she stated that she was considering legal action against her mother, who had attempted to talk her way out of the confrontation.
Also affected by the argument was Shannon's husband, Justin Stroud, who stated that he was 'really hurt' by his wife failure to be truthful about her past actions.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Lauryn 'Pumpkin', 25, is heard declaring: 'We're getting a f*****g divorce!' as her tearful husband Josh looks on.
She also locks horns with sister Jessica "Chubbs" Shannon over their business.
The trailer takes an even more shocking turn when a legal adviser says: 'The judge really could sentence you to prison' before Alana declares the family are in for a 'hot mess summer!'
Alana previously threatened to cut off her mother after she refused to pay the money she allegedly stole from her.
In a 2024 episode of the family reality show, the teenager and her older sister Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Shannon confronted their mother over the money intended for Alana's college education.
After the matriarch refused to pay her youngest daughter's tuition, which she suggested would be a 'waste' of money, Pumpkin said Mama June was 'not supportive' and 'lost $500,000 to a bag of f***ing crack'.
Their intervention quickly becomes a bitter showdown when Mama June denied the 'betrayal' overall and refused to hand over the money — for which the teenager previously said she will sue and take her mother to court

This comes after the matriarch told DailyMail.com exclusively that she spent Alana's Dancing With The Stars: Juniors earnings on manicures and paying her own bills.
The family has had their fair share of heartbreak, as they were rocked by the death of Anna 'Chickadee' Cardwell at age 29 from cancer in December 2023.

Mama June takes first photo in years with daughters Honey Boo Boo, Lauryn Efird, and Jessica Shannon after money drama

Their explosive family drama has riveted audiences for years, with money recently coming between them. But it appears Mama June Shannon and her daughters have overcome their latest differences. Mama, 45, and her daughters Alana Thompson aka Honey Boo Boo, 19, Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efird, 25, and Jessica 'Chubbs' Shannon, 28, took their first family photo in years as they plugged their latest TLC series, Mama June: Family Crisis, during a Wednesday appearance on Good Day New York. And by the looks of the smiles on their faces, they definitely appear to be on a much more positive path. During their joint interview, the women revealed how Mama June is now an active part of their lives ever since getting sober. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'We're so proud of her and how far she's come today,' Alana said of her mother. 'It is kind of nice now to have family dinner on Sundays and like the kids are running around and my mom's able to be a part of that,' Pumpkin said. Alana also said they had things 'figured' out after her mother spent $30k of her money. 'We figured it out and I mean, we're here today, so that tells you something,' she said. Alana, who rose to fame as a young girl and is now in college, recently said she and her mother were in a 'really good spot.' 'Right now we're at a really good spot... We're probably the best we've been in a while,' Alana said on Tamron Hall Show earlier this month. 'I mean, Pumpkin takes the kid over there for like just for my mama to watch them. That's a shocker for me because I never thought Pumpkin would like just leave her kids alone with my mama. So that is a big improvement for sure!' She also touched on her mother's sobriety: 'She's been sober for like three or four years now and she's doing great,' she said. While the famous family are on better terms now, a trailer for Family Crisis - which debuts on We TV on May 30 - shows the brood are still dealing with the aftermath of Mama spending $30k of her daughter Alana's money. The troubled matriarch, who previously admitted she had spent the money but denied any wrongdoing, was filmed being quizzed about the cash by Honey in a tense scene obtained exclusively by People. June took in Chickadee's eldest daughter Kaitlyn, 12, and was awarded full custody of her after a months-long court battle. June is currently married to Justin Stroud, whom she met in rehab in 2021 after battling an addiction to crack cocaine. Chickadee left behind her husband Eldridge Toney and two daughters - Kylee, nine, by her ex-husband Michael Cardwell, and Kaitlyn by a previous relationship. Before she died, Chickadee agreed that her mother would take Kaitlyn in - but this year June had to wage a legal battle over the issue against Michael, who wanted custody of both Kaitlyn and his biological daughter Kylee. June was determined to retain guardianship of Kaitlyn, saying: 'Anna wanted Kaitlyn to stay with her biological family, and I'm going to fight to my last breath till I don't have any more fight in me to make sure that is how it works.'

Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf have golden rule to make legendary tennis marriage work

Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf have golden rule to make legendary tennis marriage work Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi enjoyed incredible tennis careers and have dominated the sport of pickleball in recent years while now sharing the secret behind their success on and off the court Tennis legends Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf are still going strong both on and off the court (Image: Getty ) Tennis legends Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi have revealed the golden rule they follow to make their marriage work. The couple are widely considered to be among the greatest tennis players the sport has ever seen. Graf's career from 1982 to 1999 saw her win a whopping 22 Grand Slams, being the only player ever to clinch each of the majors at least four times. ‌ In 2001, the German married men's tennis icon Agassi, who himself won eight Grand Slams with his scintillating play between 1986 and 2006. ‌ The couple have gone on to have two children, 23-year-old son Jaden Gil Agassi and 21-year-old daughter Jaz Elle. Now, a quarter of a century into their marriage, a key part of Agassi and Graf's relationship is the increasingly popular sport of pickleball. The two 55-year-olds began playing pickleball with their kids during the Covid-19 lockdowns in the spring of 2020 and have been hooked ever since. ‌ Graf admitted that the sport, which is similar to tennis but is played on a doubles badminton court, 'filled a huge' tennis-shaped gap in their lives post-retirement. And she revealed the one key reason that they have been able to sustain their marriage while competing. She said in an interview with BILD: 'We don't play against each other. We prefer to be on the same side of the court.' Agassi added: 'We like that pickleball is a community-oriented sport. People who play pickleball also improve quickly.' ‌ He went on to say: 'We really want to spread the game. When we're not traveling, we practice a lot of pickleball. Since we both play, it's fun to do it together.' On Saturday, April 12, Agassi hosted the first-ever Agassi Open Play Day at Life Time Green Valley to mark National Pickleball Month. The event was also mirrored at more than 100 Life Time athletic clubs around the United States at the same time. ‌ Earlier this year, Agassi and Graf defended their Pickleball Slam crown by winning the title for a third successive time. Article continues below When Agassi and Graf aren't playing pickleball, they enjoy spending time with their kids and their respective partners, even going on triple dates. Agassi said: 'We had a great date night the other night where it was me, Steffi, my son and Catherine, his girlfriend, and Jaz, our daughter, and her boyfriend Parker, and it was like a triple date and we all just went out and sat and talked. 'We feel like peers around them, we respect them, we seek their opinion on things, they're not hesitant to ask us our perspective on what they're going through, so it really feels like a healthy season in life.'

Todd and Julie Chrisley cash in on their release from prison with new show

Todd and Julie Chrisley are already cashing in on their release from prison. The night he got home, Todd started filming a new reality TV show. But they were freed earlier this week after President Donald Trump pardoned them, and Todd revealed they started filming 'literally the night that we got home' for a new Lifetime series. Their daughter, Savannah, added: 'I think with this new series, you will see the first time he and mom see each other for the first time.' Before her parents were pardoned, Savannah and her siblings had been filming a series detailing how they had been coping since Todd and Julie were detained. She said: 'We obviously, we had been filming, and we had just wrapped filming for all intents and purposes and then we get the call that they had been pardoned, so we picked right back up. 'And we're excited because I think this new show is going to give, first off, it's gonna give people a look in to the trial and things that we went through and we're gonna set the record straight, put some documents out there. 'I know for me personally, now is - I get to be a normal 27-year-old, almost 28. And so my goal, it's like, we were talking last time, it's like I'm traveling to 30 countries by the time I turn 30.' Savannah also shared that she hopes to work with the Trump administration to 'expose the corruption because he has vowed to hold people accountable if there has been abuse and corruption to occur' and 'put bills in front of Congress, especially for women who are incarcerated'. Todd and Julie have always denied all charges against them. In clips captured by his daughter Savannah - which she posted on her social media pages - the pair are seen heading out on a shopping trip, with Todd pulling a bag over his head in a bid to avoid being photographed. In one of the videos, Todd revealed his wife Julie did not come shopping because she's 'hiding' at home, adding: 'She's smarter than I am.' Todd also declared: 'I'm so happy to be home. I'm going to start my skincare routine tomorrow.'
