‘How I Met Your Mother' star Cristin Milioti urges fans to join protest against 'Israeli' war crimes

American actress Cristin Milioti, best known for her role as Tracy McConnell in the popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother, took to her Instagram story to share a call-to-action for an emergency mass march in New York City, demanding an end to 'Israel's' war crimes and the US's role in enabling them. The post, originally shared by organizers from the ANSWER Coalition, announces the protest will be held on Saturday, August 16, at 2 PM (GMT-4) on the steps of the New York Public Library in Bryant Park. The callout condemns what it describes as the 'US-Israeli blockade of Gaza' for creating a 'devastating hunger crisis' that is killing Palestinians through starvation and malnutrition. It also accuses US President Donald Trump of greenlighting what it calls Israel's 'starvation regime' and denounces US-backed entities for 'weaponizing hunger' rather than ending it. The statement further alleges that Washington is now working with 'Israel' to condition aid on its plans for 'full occupation' of Gaza. 'Now is the time to take to the streets,' the post urges, calling for a united front from 'people from all walks of life' to stand against genocide and stop the 'US-funded, Israeli famine'. Milioti's public endorsement adds her name to a growing list of actors, musicians, and public figures who have used their platforms to express solidarity with Gaza and call out Israeli policies.

'Israeli' forces approve new offensive plan for Gaza

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) announced on Wednesday that it has approved the framework for a new offensive in the Gaza Strip, following a call by the security cabinet to seize Gaza City. 'Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir approved the main framework for the IDF's operational plan in the Gaza Strip,' the army said in an official statement. The Israeli Occupation government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has not provided a specific timetable for when troops might enter Gaza City, the territory's largest urban center, where thousands of residents have sought refuge from previous offensives. Gaza's civil defense authority reported that air strikes on the city have intensified over recent days. The residential neighborhoods of Zeitoun and Sabra were targeted 'with very heavy air strikes targeting civilian homes, possibly including high-rise buildings,' the agency said. The announcement came hours after Hamas confirmed that a senior delegation had arrived in Cairo for 'preliminary talks' with Egyptian officials regarding a potential temporary truce. Plans to escalate military operations in Gaza, which has been under a genocide for more than 22 months, have drawn both international condemnation and domestic opposition. UN-backed experts have warned of a growing humanitarian crisis in the territory, with severe food shortages due to 'Israel's' significant restrictions on humanitarian aid. The IOF's operations since October 2023 have resulted in at least 61,599 Palestinian deaths.

New Zealand MP suspended after pushing for sanctions on 'Israel'

Greens co-leader Chloe Swarbrick has been suspended from the New Zealand Parliament for one week after urging her colleagues to back a bill that would impose sanctions on 'Israel' over its actions in Palestine. Speaking during a parliamentary debate on Tuesday, Swarbrick called on the government to adopt the Greens' Unlawful Occupation of Palestine Sanctions Bill, saying, 'If we find six of 68 government MPs with a spine, we can stand on the right side of history.' Speaker Gerry Brownlee described her remarks as 'completely unacceptable' and demanded that Swarbrick withdraw her statement and issue an apology. She refused, prompting her temporary ejection from the chamber. The legislation requires the support of six government MPs to pass, a threshold Swarbrick highlighted in her appeal. Her speech followed the government's announcement on Monday that it would consider recognizing an independent Palestinian state. 'We have so much further to go than nearly recognizing the statement of Palestine, as we should have done 76 years ago,' Swarbrick said, emphasizing New Zealand's responsibility under the Genocide Convention.
