Starbucks says new Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso already a favorite

Starbucks has a horchata hit on its hands.
A newcomer on the specialty coffee chain's summer menu, the Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, is selling at a better pace than any Iced Shaken Espresso drink since Starbucks began offering them in 2022.
So far, the Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso has outperformed all previous new seasonal Iced Shaken Espresso beverage launches by 44%, the company says.
The drink is made with a horchata flavored syrup that marries "cinnamon, sweet vanilla and subtle nutty notes reminiscent of the rice milk that makes up a traditional horchata," Starbucks said in a news release.

Starbucks says it's gotten more than 11.9 million views on TikTok on content related to its Iced Horchata Shaken Espresso in the last ten days (May 20-May 30).
Horchata has become a trending flavor in recent years in the U.S. While the Mexican version of the plant-based beverage is what has become popular here, the drink became popular in ancient Spain, where nuts were used in the concoction. But it originated in North Africa, as far back as 2400 B.C.
Starbucks is not alone in chasing horchata's hotness. Oreo teamed with singer and actress Selena Gomez on horchata flavored Limited Edition Selena Gomez Oreo Cookies, which hit stores June 9, but became available for presale in the U.S. starting June 2 at www.Oreo.com/UnwrapTheCollab.
If horchata has become habit-forming, Starbucks has a new beverage recommendation, courtesy of its "not-so-secret menu" broadcast channel on Instagram.
It's a twist on an Iced Chai Latte: Order an Iced Grande Chai Latte and ask for three pumps of chai, one pump of horchata, plus cinnamon powder and strawberry Cream Cold Foam.
"The Iced Shaken Espresso combines the horchata flavor with our beautiful Blonde Espresso, and the Horchata flavor is also delicious in a matcha latte or Frappuccino," said Starbucks brand manager Ricky Gonzalez, who helped bring the new beverage to Starbucks, in a statement to USA TODAY. "There's a lot of ways to enjoy this new flavor.'

Also on Starbucks' summer menu is the new Strawberry & Cream Cake Pop, which has gotten the most attention on TikTok of any of the chain's cake pops so far, netting more than 6.1 million content views.
'Summer and Starbucks go hand-in-hand," said Tressie Leiberman, Starbucks' global chief brand officer, in a statement to USA TODAY. "Our fans are crazy for the new Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, so we are seeing success continuing to build for the platform with much more innovation possible. And the Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop tastes as good as it looks.'

‘Only Murders in the Building's' Martin Short and John Hoffman Preview ‘Ripped from the Headlines' Season 5

There's another murder brewing for 'Only Murders in the Building,' which will return September 9 with Season 5 on Hulu. The mystery will surround (spoiler for those not through Season 4) the Arconia's beloved doorman, Lester, who was found dead in the courtyard fountain in the waning moments of last October's season finale. When we last left the terrific trio — which includes Steve Martin as Charles-Haden Savage, Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora, and the once again Emmy-nominated Martin Short as Oliver Putnam — Oliver had just married the love of his life (in the previously mentioned courtyard), the actress Loretta (Meryl Streep). As for what's to come now or how Short might be approaching Oliver in the fifth go around, the 'Three Amigos' star insisted in an interview with Deadline that he doesn't 'analyze [himself] that way.' More from IndieWire Ayo Edebiri Says Directing 'The Bear' Was Like 'Making a Venn Diagram Out of a Thousand Circles' 'The Gilded Age' Season 3 Finale Takes Bad Moms to Task - Including One Who Doesn't Deserve It 'I don't sit back and say, 'You know what I've done with Oliver this season…?' I look at the script and I think, 'How do I make this real and funny?' That's what I think,' Short said. 'And know that I'm in such good hands. That's the other huge liberating thing about doing a show like this. Especially into a Season 5, you feel like you're in such safe hands that no one's going to make you look like an idiot. No one's going to make the wrong choice. And so, it loosens you up. It makes you feel very free. But I don't really go in with endlessly preconceived notions of what might come across. I certainly prepare thoughts, but you want to be open to the moment and what the other actor is giving you, and maybe that's going to change your mind.' Producer and head writer John Hoffman also spoke with Deadline, declaring that the fifth season — which will add Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, and Keegan Michael Key to the cast — will be a 'New York story' concerning something that's 'happening across the country,' though specifically to 'the city itself.' From his explanation, Hoffman seemed to indicate that this go around might draw more from the tumultuous state of affairs that is the United States. 'We're pulling from the headlines to ask very specific questions about the balance of power in New York and who has that power,' Hoffman said. 'That's what we're really looking at — the shifting power dynamics of the country. And what's really fun about it, the comedic side of it, is that the history of power in New York is pretty colorful, with the old mob and the new mob mixing in. What do those two look like, and how do they sit on either side, with our trio in the center of it?' In May, Short spoke with IndieWire about leading the series both as one of its executive producers and its stars. While he said that 'you can't control the outcome' of the material, the experience itself can be controlled. 'So I do think the behavior of the leads sets a tone, but most people's reputations are pretty good,' he said. 'I've done this a long time, and I've never worked with a monster. It just doesn't happen. I mean, I have made movies where you kind of go, 'Oh, this director, I don't know,' but I'll still weasel as many takes [as I can], and I'll go home and pour a glass of champagne and toast myself saying, 'I did everything I could do. He/she are morons and they will destroy [the movie,] I'm sure it's not going to be any good, but it's not my fault.'' Rude couple bans bartender from putting out ‘tacky' tip jar at wedding: ‘I would be horrified if you asked my guests for tips'

It's pretty standard to leave a cash tip for bartenders at weddings — especially if it's an open bar. However, a young bartender named Hannah Borsenik revealed in a TikTok video — captioned 'This labor isn't, free people' — that she supposedly was 'not allowed' by a couple to put out a tip jar at their wedding that she was working. This video said so much — yet so little at the same time, but enough to spark a fierce debate on tipping at weddings in the comment section. 'I wouldn't want my guests to feel obligated to spend any money at my wedding either… that's tacky,' one commenter fired. The bride and groom supposedly banned the bartender from having a tip jar — something she usually always puts out at weddings. Daniel Jíâ¢dzura – Another comment brought up a good point: 'The couple should be tipping you not the guests.' 'Gratuity was included in the contract. Don't lie. Asking guests to tip is tacky,' judged someone else. Borsenik felt compelled to post a follow-up video in response to the thousands of opinionated comments she received on her original video. 'I get an hourly wage from the venue. The bride and groom are not hiring me to be a private bartender at their wedding, so that's why I usually have a tip jar… I don't get gratuity in my hourly wage,' she explained. @hannyb11 Replying to @Patricia Mcauley Clearing all of the controversy up!! ♬ original sound – hannyb '…I'm not signing a contract. I just work for the venue and the bride and groom just said I couldn't have a tip jar.' Of course, commenters had something to say about Borsenik's explanation, too. 'The person paying for the event should tip you at the end of the night. I would be horrified if you asked my guests for tips,' quipped one person. It seems that some couples don't want their guests to feel compelled to tip at weddings. laurine – Another person defended the young bartender: 'I'm sorry even if you got paid via the bride and groom, I do not care. Make that money. If people want to tip they will and if people don't want to, they won't.' Some Gen Z couples are avoiding this scenario altogether by throwing dry weddings and cash bars, defending the move as far from tacky and calling guests who complain 'entitled.' Rather than free-flowing booze, these couples prioritize transparency and budget-conscious celebrations, sparking heated arguments online about what it really means to be a gracious host. In a culture where wedding norms are evolving, debates over who should tip — or if tip jars even belong — are only getting louder. But one thing's clear: when it comes to weddings, money and manners remain a delicate dance.
