Iceman Toronto co-owner breaks silence on Drake's album livestream

Express Tribune06-07-2025
Drake's rollout for his upcoming album ICEMAN kicked off in dramatic fashion with a surprise livestream titled ICEMAN EPISODE 1, created in collaboration with Iceman Toronto.
The stream, which featured Drake driving through the city in a branded truck, began in a Toronto warehouse owned by the cold storage company.
Jake Silva, co-owner of Iceman Toronto, spoke to CTV News about the experience, revealing that Drake's team contacted him just two days prior to request use of the facility. 'We got the call Wednesday afternoon,' Silva said. 'During the livestream, it was pretty crazy. My father's phone blew up. People were calling from all over North America.'
The livestream generated major buzz, with Silva estimating over 200 calls coming in during the broadcast. Despite the chaos, he praised Drake's team for their professionalism and respect for the ongoing business operations.
Drake's ICEMAN EPISODE 1 ended with the release of 'What Did I Miss?', a track that quickly climbed to No. 1 on both Spotify and Apple Music in the U.S. The song is widely believed to be the lead single from the forthcoming album.
Silva also noted that friends had hinted at Drake working on a project connected to the 'Iceman' name for some time, suggesting more collaboration may be on the horizon. Although the official album release date remains unknown, ICEMAN is now one of the most highly anticipated projects in hip hop.
With his latest rollout, Drake once again proves his ability to create viral moments while staying true to his Toronto roots.

Josh Peck can't believe Drake & Josh got away with wild Oprah moment

In a recent interview, former Nickelodeon star Josh Peck opened up about one of the wildest moments from his early TV career, the now-infamous Drake & Josh episode in which his character runs over Oprah Winfrey. The episode, titled Josh Runs Into Oprah, first aired in 2006 and quickly became one of the most talked-about storylines from the show. 'To this day, I'm amazed it made it past the script stage,' Peck said. 'It's just insane, the whole plot centers on me hitting Oprah, and somehow that was fine.' Looking back, Peck says the idea felt bizarre even then, but no one expected it to become such a cultural flashpoint. 'It was such a wild concept, even by early 2000s sitcom standards,' he added. 'But I think that's what made it so memorable. We were doing slapstick comedy, and it just went there full-on.' Now 37, Peck has transitioned into more mature roles and podcasting, but moments like that episode continue to follow him online. 'It's weird how much that scene still circulates. I'll randomly get tagged in memes where people are just shocked we hit Oprah with a car,' he said with a laugh. Despite the absurdity, Peck says he has no regrets. 'I'm proud of what we did, but man… we really hit Oprah with a car.'

Kojo Menne Asamoah named in Drake's lawsuit over alleged bot use in Kendrick Lamar streaming case

Kojo Menne Asamoah has been named by Drake's legal team as a central figure in an ongoing lawsuit related to Kendrick Lamar's streaming performance. According to Billboard, the rapper's legal representatives believe Asamoah played a key role in artificially boosting streams for Lamar's hit track 'Not Like Us' by allegedly deploying bots and other covert tactics. While Asamoah's background remains largely unknown, online speculation suggests he may have ties to digital marketing or the music promotion industry. There is no confirmed connection between Asamoah and Kendrick Lamar, but Drake's legal team asserts that he holds critical information and documents relevant to their claim that Universal Music Group (UMG) engaged in deceptive business practices. Filed on June 4 and made public on July 14, the complaint alleges violations of New York General Business Law. Despite hiring two private investigators and spending over $75,000 in the effort, Drake's team has reportedly been unable to successfully serve Asamoah with a subpoena, according to sources like @Kurrco and @OVODocket on X (formerly Twitter). The broader lawsuit names 63 individuals and focuses primarily on UMG and its executives, including CEO Sir Lucian Grainge, Republic Records co-founders Avery and Monte Lipman, and others. Kendrick Lamar himself has not been directly named in the defamation case. While it remains uncertain whether Kojo Menne Asamoah will be compelled to testify, he is considered a key witness who may possess vital evidence. Though neither Drake nor Lamar has publicly commented or appeared in court, Asamoah's potential involvement could prove significant as the case develops.

Drake comments after Alex Warren's ‘Ordinary' holds off Hot 100 top spot for ‘What Did I Miss?'

Drake has responded after Alex Warren's song 'Ordinary' prevented his latest single 'What Did I Miss?' from debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Warren's track has held the top spot for six weeks, while Drake's single entered the chart at No. 2 for the week dated July 19 2025. 'Suppressor on the 1 spot,' Drake posted on his Instagram Story, sharing the Hot 100 graphic. 'I'm taking that soon don't worry one song or another. Rule changes and all.' Alex Warren, whose song held the top spot, posted a video of himself dancing to 'NOKIA' in response to Drake's post. Despite missing out on the top position, 'What Did I Miss?' marks Drake's record-extending 81st Hot 100 top 10 hit. The track achieved the No. 1 position on Streaming Songs, giving Drake his 21st leader on that chart, and also led the Digital Song Sales, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts. Drake released 'What Did I Miss?' days before his three-day headlining performances at Wireless Festival 2025 in London. His sets included an R&B-themed night with PartyNextDoor, Ms. Lauryn Hill and Giveon, a UK rap-themed night with Skepta, Headie One and Central Cee, and an Afrobeats-and-dancehall night featuring Vybz Kartel, Burna Boy and Spice. During the final night, Drake teased a new single with collaborator Cench, scheduled for release on July 18.
