Political opponents hatching conspiracy to blow me up with bomb, alleges Chirag Paswan at Bihar rally

PATNA: Union Minister and LJP (RV) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday alleged that his political opponents were hatching a conspiracy to blow him up 'with a bomb'.
However, he claimed that such attempts of detractors would not desist him from his political objective.
'Sher ka beta hun. Isase darne wala nahi (I am a tiger's cub. It will not scare me at all),' he said, while addressing 'Nav Sankalp Mahasabha' in Bihar's Munger district.
Chirag said he was being intimidated on social media, revealing this a week after receiving a threat on his Instagram account.
The Union Minister said that the detractors made failed attempts to intimidate him.
'But they forget that I am a tiger's cub, who does not know how to bend. It is impossible to scare me,' he told the gathering.
Without taking the name of his uncle and Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) chief Pashupati Kumar Paras, Chirag said that many people were upset with his rise and LJP (RV)'s 'Bihari First, Bihari First' vision.
In a veiled attack on the Opposition RJD, Chirag said the party had pushed the state into poverty and backwardness during its time in power and was now trying to mislead people ahead of the assembly elections with false promises of jobs and employment opportunities.

Vikas Barala's appointment as law officer a reflection of govt's values, says Varnika

A day after the appointment of former Haryana BJP president Subash Barala's son Vikas Barala, who is facing trial in the infamous 2017 stalking case, as assistant advocate general by the Haryana government, the complainant, Varnika Kundu, called it a reflection of 'values and standards' of the authorities. Varnika Kundu wrote that perhaps the questions should be directed at the authorities whose ethics and standards allowed this decision to be made. (HT Photo) Kundu, daughter of retired IAS officer VS Kundu, vented out her anger on an Instagram post, writing, 'Appointing someone to a public position of power is not just a political decision, it's a reflection of values and standards.' She went on to write that perhaps the questions should be directed at the authorities whose ethics and standards allowed this decision to be made. 'Our policy makers run the country; the rest of us are just hoping they remember they work for the Indian citizen,' she wrote. 'Faith in judiciary has wavered' Kundu also spoke about the case and the never-ending adjournments in court, which have resulted in a long delay. The case made headlines in 2017 and has been crawling in Chandigarh's district courts at a snail's pace. '...despite months of national media attention, it has dragged on for this long with little progress. Although we seem no closer to a conclusion than we were five year ago, I continue to hold faith in the judiciary until the verdict is announced, but I won't deny that faith has wavered,' she further wrote. The case was registered on August 4, 2017, under Sections 354-D, 341, 365, 511 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code when Varnika Kundu, then a disco jockey (DJ), was allegedly stalked by accused Vikas and his friend Ashish. She was headed home when she noticed a car following her. As per the case, the two accused attempted to block her path and tried to enter her vehicle. Police had added sections of kidnapping after widespread criticism of police functioning. 102 court hearings in seven years The Chandigarh Police had filed a 200-page chargesheet in the stalking case on September 20, 2017. A district court had framed charges on October 13, 2017, and trial began on October 27, 2017. Ever since, there have been over 100 hearings in the trial court, but repeatedly adjourned on various grounds. In February this year, the case was transferred to the court of judicial magistrate first class where it is currently being heard. It will next come up for hearing on August 2. I am out to get justice, says Varnika Having quit as DJ two years ago, Kundu, 36, has since found new found passion in baking. Running a bakery business 'Chonky' from home, she admits life has changed after the incident. 'I am out to get justice,' she says. 'Someone had to stand up for those silent women without power,' she says. Kundu, who knew martial arts before the stalking incident, has now also trained in firearms. In 2018, Google Maps renamed Chandigarh's 'Geri Route', the stretch between Sectors 10 and 11, to 'Azadi Route', following a movement sparked by the stalking incident, under the banner 'Bekhauf Azaadi', to reclaim public spaces.

Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez Faces Backlash In Mexico For 'Very Misogynist' Remarks On Gender Roles

Soccer star Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez is facing a backlash from Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum and others for remarks posted on his social media accounts about gender roles. 'Chicharito is a very good soccer player,' Sheinbaum said at a news conference Wednesday. 'But when it comes to his opinion on women ... he still has a lot to learn." She described the former Mexico international's ideas as 'very sexist.' The former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker, who plays for Chivas, is injured and missed the first two matches of Mexico's Apertura tournament. Over the weekend, he posted several reels and videos, mainly on Instagram. 'Don't be afraid to be women, to allow yourselves to be led by a man," the 37-year-old Hernandez said. 'Women, you are failing, you are eradicating masculinity, making society hypersensitive." Hernandez, the all-time leading scorer for the Mexican national team with 52 goals, returned to Mexico last year on a two-year deal with Chivas, the team where he began his professional career in 2006. 'You women need to learn to accept and honor masculinity,' he said in another one of his posts. In another, he said to the camera: 'You want a man to provide, but for you, cleaning is patriarchal oppression... interesting.' Sheinbaum, a 63-year-old scientist, was elected last year as the first female president in the country's 200-year history. 'I'm a mother, I'm a grandmother, I'm also a housewife,' the president added Wednesday. 'But I'm also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. Women can be whatever we want.' Hernandez is a divorced father of two who has a habit of kneeling in the middle of the pitch to pray before the start of matches. He began creating content for a YouTube channel where he portrayed his life as a player with West Ham and his marriage. Hernandez had a low profile on social media before hiring life coach Diego Dreyfus, to whom many attribute much of 'Chicharito's' new persona. Criticism followed his recent statements, with some urging him to limit himself to soccer, given that his performance since returning to the Mexican league last year has not been as expected. Hernandez, who also played for Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham and Sevilla, has scored just two goals in 25 matches in his first two tournaments back in Mexico. A few hours after the president's remarks, Hernandez was fined by the by the Gender and Diversity Commission of the Mexican Soccer Federation and by Chivas. 'A few days ago, on the social platform Javier Chicharito Hernández made statements that promote sexist stereotypes that are considered media violence and go against gender equality in the sport," a statement from the federation said. The federation did not disclose the amount of the fine but said that a more severe penalty awaits if he does it again. Chivas didn't mention Hernandez by name in announcing its fine, only saying that the team is against 'behavior that reinforces stereotypes that limit the freedom, respect, and full development of all people, both inside and outside of sports.' This is the first time that the federation has sanctioned a player for misogynistic comments. Earlier this year businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego, the owner of the Mazatlán and Puebla clubs, made harsh statements about female journalists and was left unpunished. Chicharito has been banned from the national team since 2019 after he, alongside other players, organized a non-authorized party in New York after a game against the United States. ___
