LOVE to be… returns to Sheffield in style on Bank Holiday Sunday, 25 May with an all-day inner-city festival at FORGE, taking over the warehouse, courtyard, and even the streets of Effingham Road.
With four stages, over 30 DJs, and a lineup stacked with house royalty including Sam Divine, Todd Terry, Barbara Tucker, The Shapeshifters, and Alison Limerick, it's set to be a huge celebration of house music culture.

Victor Simonelli will be spinning some discs

At the heart of it all is the Music Factory Stage, a nod to Love to be…'s original 90s home, where New York house legend Victor Simonelli will deliver a special set packed with soulful energy and deep grooves alongside Alison Limerick performing the hit single 'Where Love Lives', Gatecrasher resident Allister Whitehead, Hacienda legend Tom Wainwright, Love to be… founder Tony Walker and many more.
This is a rewind in time to the glory days of 90s house music. To mark the occasion, Victor Simonelli has curated a playlist titled 'Some of NY's Finest Favorites', showcasing highlights from his extensive label catalogue.
He told us: "It would be more fluid for me doing a chart of some of my favorite releases from my own labels...
"Besides myself, these labels include releases from many well-known artists and producers. So something like, 'Some of NY's Finest Favorites'.'
From timeless vocal collaborations to fresh cuts from new artists (including his son), the playlist is a true celebration of NYC house heritage with Simonelli's signature touch.

Groove Committee Feat. Marcie Allen - I Still Believe [Bassline Records]
Marcie Allen - the singer on this - and I have been friends since the 80s. Before She and I met, she was in the group Aquarian Dream and worked with Patrick Adams and many others.
We have made numerous tunes together including "All Over Me" by Underground Circuit (sampled by Jr Vasquez for "Dream Drums"), "You Need Someone" by Groove Committee, amongst others.
This is our latest release together and will also be included on her upcoming album that we are putting together.
Soul Magic & Ebony Soul Feat. Ann Nesby - Get Your Thing Together (Odyssey Inc. Remix) [Bassline Records]
I wrote this with Lenny D in 1989, and originally recorded it with Martha Wash.
That version was never released, but a version with Roberta Gilliam was in around 1990.
Fast Forward to approx. 2008, and I recorded a version with Ann Nesby, who added some additional writing to it too. Various mixes have been done on it since, and this is the latest - a new release.

It was a Dream for me do a tune with D Train, and this is it. Here is my Original mix of it, released this year.
Northbound – A Better Way Feat. Mone (Jazz N Groove Vocal Club Mix) [Bassline Records]
This is the first release by Mone. I had met Brian Tappert, one of the owners of Traxsource, and Roy Grant, who later became known as Jazz N Groove, at Winter Music Conference in 1992. At the time, they had not produced or released much. I asked them to send demos when they were ready, and they did.
I had started Bassline records around that time, and this was amongst the first releases I assisted them with. We released numerous works of theirs leading up to 1995 and Brian then started Soulfuric Recordings with Marc Pomeroy.
Ebony Soul - I Can Hardly Wait (Victor Simonelli Mix) [Unkwn Rec]
Released in 1992 initially on Eightball Records, this is a release that is often requested, and another one of my Pseudonyms. There's been an anniversary release of this just recently released with original and various mixes on one of my own labels, Unkwn Rec's.
Blind Truth feat Tata & Toney - Why Can't We See (Odyssey Inc. Feat Louis Latino Remix) [Unkwn Rec]
Arthur Baker and I originally created this tune together in 1991. I am guessing it sets the record for the tune with most remixes and reworks, ever, with approximately 200 or so, to date. This is the latest remix of this treasure by Odyssey Inc.
Brooklyn's Most Wanted - Just A Touch Away [Good Groove Records]
Produced by my eldest son, Immanuele Simonelli, and on his label Good Groove Rec's, I assisted him with mixing and arranging this. Setting dancefloors on fire.
Sound Of One - I Know A Place (Neapolitan Soul Remix) [Unkwn Rec]
Originally released in 1993 and often imitated, here is the latest remix by Neapolitan Soul. Available on Traxsource by another one of my many Pseudonyms, so new there is no Youtube link yet!
Serena May - Tell Me Is This Love (Victor Simonelli Mix) [Bassline Records]
Serena May is a young new artist and a great songwriter, working with her Dad and Mom on her own tunes. She is from the UK and when her Mom presented me with a downtempo version of this song, I said I would like to remix it. This it the result - just released on Bassline Records.

While a significant number of people find comfort in their daily routine the majority of people expressed a desire to be more spontaneous. Seven in ten admit they do the same thing every August Bank Holiday, despite 46 per cent wishing they could be more spontaneous during the extended weekend. Reasons for sticking with same routine include fear of failing, or simply not wanting to step out of their comfort zone. Tom continued: "Too often, we stick to what we know out of habit or convenience but exciting things rarely happen when we play it safe. "That's why we're shaking things up this bank holiday - with almost a third of the UK listing a trip to the pub as their non-negotiable bank holiday plan, we thought we'd give you the chance to enjoy a pint a bit further north of your usual beer garden. "Why settle for ground-level plans when you can take things to a whole new height?".

Oasis in Edinburgh: Strict security and timings ahead of Murrayfield gigs
The Gallagher brothers continue to blow away the Oasis fans with their live shows and now it is the turn of Edinburgh to come on feel the noise Oasis are set to storm Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on Friday 8th, Saturday 9th, and Tuesday 12th August 2025 — and fans have now been issued with a no‑nonsense guide to entry times, bag rules and what's banned from the gig. The entry points are also specifically colour coded. The gig follows huge success for the band in Cardiff, Manchester and London with all the shows being a massive success, although very sadly one fan did die whilst watching them at Wembley last weekend. Liam Gallagher then dedicated Live Forever on Sunday to "all the people who can't be here tonight, but who are here if you know what I mean". Here is everything you need to know if you are heading to Murrayfield this week: Timings and Entry Rules Ticketmaster has confirmed that stadium gates open at 5pm each night, with a strict curfew at 10:30pm . Based on their previous shows on this tour if you want to see support act Cast they will take to the stage around 6pm with Richard Ashcroft playing at 7pm. Oasis are then likely to take to the stage at 8.15pm and play for around two hour. The set list has remained unchanged so far on the Oasis Live 25 tour although guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs has been joking with the Gallaghers that he wants to sing Bonehead's Bank Holiday. Stewards around the ground in blue coat will also be able to help. Why is Scotland so important to Oasis? The band's luck and the history of music changed thanks to one night in Glasgow at King Tut's on May 31, 1993. Creation Records boss Alan McGee had arranged to meet his sister there for birthday drinks and two of the bands he had recently signed were playing - 18 Wheeler and Boyfriend, as well as a band called Sister Lovers. But unbeknown to him, Sister Lovers had invited their friends from Manchester to come along, telling Oasis they could get a spot on the line up too. The band had to beg and demand to get on and after a bit of back and forth, were allowed to play a handful of songs if they went on first to play for a tiny crowd. Thankfully McGee had arrived too early so was already there knocking back drinks. McGee writes in his book How To Run An Indie Label: 'They played Rock'n'Roll star and it sounded great. I was really surprised and thought 'who the f**k this?'. I was thinking the next song will be rubbish but it was Bring It On Down and that was great as well. Then it was Up In The Sky and I was already signing them in my head.' McGee's sister was also a fan after the trio of songs, and the band then finished with The Beatles I Am The Walrus which was 'fantastic' and McGee approached the band's sound guy Mark Coyle for an introduction to the band's leader which was Noel. In the documentary Supersonic, Noel explains: 'I'm up by the mixing desk with Coyley, Alan McGee walks up and says 'what's your band called' and I said 'Oasis' and these were his exact words he said 'do you want a record deal?'. 'We kind of went back that night, I don't remember anybody high-fiving in the back of the van thinking 'this is it'. I don't remember us being nonchalant about it either. We were going back to Manchester and getting into where I was living at 6'o'clock in the morning.' McGee signed them up after Noel, Liam and Bonehead took a train from Manchester to London and met with the Creation team. The band signed to Creation and the label pushed out a white label record of Columbia to 500 radio stations and music writers to start to create a buzz after it was played on Radio 1.
