High Public Turnout at Museums and Archaeological Sites in Alexandria

Ali abo deshish Today, museums and archaeological sites across the city of Alexandria witnessed a massive influx of thousands of visitors, both Egyptian nationals and foreign residents. This surge in attendance comes in response to the decision by Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, to grant free public access in celebration of Alexandria Governorate's National Day. The Citadel of Qaitbay welcomed approximately 16,110 visitors, while the Graeco-Roman Museum received more than 4,200 visitors. The Royal Jewelry Museum attracted over 2,000 visitors, and the Kom El Shoqafa archaeological site saw more than 3,000 visitors. Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, noted that crowds of visitors had lined up since the early morning hours outside the archaeological sites and museums, reflecting the deep awareness among Egyptians of all age groups about the importance of connecting more closely with their ancient heritage. The Secretary-General emphasized that the flow of visitors throughout the day was well-organized at all sites and museums across the governorate. Visitors were allowed entry in groups to ensure that the large crowds did not disrupt the experience or movement within the sites. Museum curators and antiquities inspectors continued to monitor the sites throughout official working hours to guarantee a smooth and accessible experience for all guests. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

American embassy celebrates US-Egypt ties at World Junior Squash Championships luncheon - City Lights - Life & Style

The US embassy in Cairo hosted a luncheon on 20 July, ahead of the World Junior Squash Championships, to celebrate US-Egypt sports diplomacy and rising squash talent from both nations. The event highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Egypt and the United States, underscoring US sporting excellence ahead of squash's historic debut at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The luncheon, hosted by Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Nathaniel Turner, brought together Egyptian Squash Federation board member Sara El-Noamany, US embassy spokesperson Gina Cabrera, and male and female junior squash players from the US and Egyptian national teams, along with their parents and coaches. The gathering emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and sports diplomacy in building mutual respect and collaboration. 'One thing that makes international sports special is the way it brings people together,' said Turner. 'It may look like we're cheering for different teams, but in the end, we're all rooting for these young people. Sports teach them life skills, and the relationships and friendships they build deepen our people-to-people ties,' he added. Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Nathaniel Turner, Alexandra Jaffe and Alexander Dartnell. Addressing the athletes directly, Turner said: 'You are the best of the best. You've come not just to compete, but to learn from one another, push each other to new heights, and showcase the sport you love.' As Egypt prepares to host the championship at the Black Ball Sporting Club in New Cairo from 21 July to 1 August, the luncheon marked a celebratory prelude to the tournament. The US embassy reaffirmed its pride in supporting young athletes competing on the global stage and paving the way for squash's Olympic debut. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:
