The death of a man whose remains were found in a community north of Winnipeg last year has now been deemed a homicide.
On Monday, Manitoba RCMP identified the victim as 75-year-old Dimitar Rachev. It's been half a year since police discovered Rachev's remains at a property off Highway 7 in the RM of Rockwood.
Police have not provided details as to how Rachev died. However, at the time of the discovery on Nov. 21, 2024, police said it was believed he had died within the last month.
Mounties are now looking to speak with anyone who had contact with Rachev anytime after Nov. 1, 2024.
Earlier this month, major crimes services, along with a forensic anthropology team, returned to the property where the remains were found to do a second ground search.
