‘Summer I Turned Pretty' Cast's Hints About Possible Love Triangle Outcome and Season 3 Changes
The Summer I Turned Pretty cast is just as invested in the love triangle outcome as fans are — but what have they said about potential changes to the endgame relationship?
Prime Video's hit series, which debuted in June 2022, is based on a book series of the same name by showrunner Jenny Han. The Summer I Turned Pretty focuses on Belly (Lola Tung) who gets caught up in a love triangle where after exploring her feelings for Conrad (Christopher Briney), she starts to reconsider whether his brother, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), is her perfect match.
In the original book trilogy, Belly made her final choice in We'll Always Have Summer, which will presumably inspire the third season of the show. Fans, however, have questioned whether the story will follow the events of the book series or whether there will be changes.
Han hasn't given much information away except to confirm that the final season will raise the stakes, writing via Instagram in December 2024, 'One thing I'll say about season 3 of [The Summer I Turned Pretty] ... there are no filler episodes.'
Which 'Summer I Turned Pretty' Characters Are — and Aren't — Returning for the 3rd and Final Season
There seem to be plans to expand the Summer I Turned Pretty universe — no matter the outcome.
"I will say stay tuned, but Jenny's got some exciting surprises. So we're thrilled about a season 3, and she's got a vision for more," Vernon Sanders, the head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, told Deadline in September 2023. "This show is going to continue to be a huge centerpiece for us, and we absolutely have plans to continue building it. Jenny's got great vision for where she wants to go with all of it, but we're already hard at work developing complementary pieces.'
Keep scrolling for everything the cast has said about whether Belly will choose Conrad or Jeremiah:
"I do feel like there's a strong chance that that's a possibility," he exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2023 about the show potentially straying from the original events in the books. "Obviously, I know where [my character Jeremiah] ends up going and what ends up happening. But I don't emphasize on that. Because I think Jenny writes it so well that I'm able to kind of get there naturally without having to force it in a certain direction."
After season 1 debuted on Prime Video, Han hinted that her vision for the show may not mirror the events in the books.
"I really had to weigh what the fans are expecting with where the show is going creatively and find that balance," she told Variety in June 2022. "My priority has always been that I want fans of the book to feel really satisfied by the story we're telling, but also for them to know that this is an adaptation in a new medium, so it's not going to be exactly the same. I think those are sort of the two things that are always in my head.
Han added: "I don't want to spoil too much but the books have been out for a while. You never know what could happen with the show. I was open minded going into it. I was considering a lot of different possibilities."
More recently, Han teased that changes were coming, telling Entertainment Weekly in March 2025, "There are going to be surprises. There are the things that [book fans] know and then there are things they think they know, and then there's going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them."
Two months later, Han told the outlet there would be a 'satisfying' ending for everyone.
'A successful love triangle is one where, no matter what happens, people are going to be devastated and heartbroken," Han hinted. 'Because if the answer feels really clear and easy, then there's no real conflict. No matter what you do, someone's going to be hurt by it.'
6 Book Moments We Want on 'Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3 — Including Those Belly and Conrad Scenes
The actress showed support for onscreen shakeups. "The one thing I've always admired about Jenny is that every season and every decision about what's coming next is purely to serve the story," she explained to EW that same month. "She's never going to do anything that doesn't make sense for the story."
Tung continued: "It's all about this beautiful world she's created and giving the fans something really, really special and giving us something really special to work with."
Briney hasn't revealed who Belly could choose — but he has some thoughts on the back and forth.
'It's all unreal expectations. It's all ridiculous," he told InStyle in January 2024 before weighing in on Conrad story lines, "You're not going to go to Stanford. You're not going to go to a beach town every summer and fall in love with your mom's friend's f***ing whatever. It's not going to happen. It's stupid. That's not how life works.'

TikTok star Khaby Lame plays soccer in Brazil after US detention
SAO PAULO (AP) — Khaby Lame, the world's most-followed TikTok personality who left the U.S. after being detained by immigration agents, went to Brazil where he's been spending some time with friends, local authorities said Thursday. Lame is staying with AC Milan player Emerson Royal, and has been enjoying time with local fans, Paulo Eduardo Dias Junior, a city councilman from Americana, about 78 miles (125 kilometers) northwest of Sao Paulo, told The Associated Press. On Wednesday night, they played a friendly soccer match with locals. Lame left the United States after being detained on June 6 by immigration agents at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas for allegedly overstaying his visa. The Senegalese-Italian influencer, whose legal name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was allowed to leave the country without a deportation order, according to a statement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Junior organized Wednesday's match on behalf of the nonprofit he leads, Instituto Jr Dias. He said that Lame and Royal's participation helped collect 150 food baskets for vulnerable families. 'Emerson Royal is a role model for the children in our community, and so is Khaby, who is globally known through social media. He's a sensation among kids today,' Junior said. 'He had a lot of fun with the kids and played a lot.' The councilman said that the team that Lame and Royal were on won 3-1. Everything went smoothly, he added, except for the post-match celebration. As is tradition in Brazil, players gathered for a barbecue. But Lame preferred a parmegiana, so they took him to a local restaurant, Junior said. This is not Lame's first time in Brazil. Last year, he traveled to the country to attend Royal's wedding. Met Gala and then detention Lame arrived in the U.S. on April 30 and 'overstayed the terms of his visa,' an ICE spokesperson told the AP, which sent a message seeking comment Tuesday to the email address listed on Lame's Instagram account. He hasn't publicly commented on his detention. His detention and voluntary departure from the United States comes amid U.S. President Donald Trump's escalating crackdown on immigration, including raids in Los Angeles that sparked days of protests against ICE, as the president tests the bounds of his executive authority. A voluntary departure — which was granted to Lame — allows those facing removal from the U.S. to avoid a deportation order on their immigration record, which could prevent them from being allowed back into the U.S. for up to a decade. The 25-year-old Lame rose to international fame during the pandemic without ever saying a word in his videos, which would show him reacting to absurdly complicated 'life hacks.' He has more than 162 million followers on TikTok alone. The Senegal-born influencer moved to Italy when he was an infant with his working class parents and also has Italian citizenship. His internet fame quickly evolved. He signed a multiyear partnership with designer brand Hugo Boss in 2022. In January, he was appointed as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Dua Lipa and Callum Turner Are Officially Engaged! All of the Details on Her $100,000 Trend-Forward Diamond Ring
After months of speculation, Dua Lipa confirmed that she and Callum Turner are engaged. The pop star announced the news in British Vogue. The ring, a solitaire diamond set on a chunky band, is estimated to be worth between $65,000 and $125, months of speculation, Dua Lipa finally confirmed her engaged to Callum Turner. The pop star revealed the news in an interview with British Vogue. "Yeah, we're engaged," she told the outlet. "It's very exciting." Rumors of a proposal had started circulating in late 2024, after the pop singer posted a picture on her Instagram of her wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring. However, neither her nor her partner commented on the speculation—until now. In her conversation with the outlet, she disclosed that Turner had the ring made for her with the input of her best friends and her sister. "I'm obsessed with it," she said. "It's so me. It's nice to know the person that you're going to spend the rest of your life with knows you very well." While the singer didn't reveal the exact details of the sparkler, Susie Saltzman, an engagement ring designer based in New York City, previously told BRIDES that it looks as though it features a solitaire "round brilliant or old European cut" diamond set on a yellow gold chunky, wide band. "The diamond appears to be semi-bezel set or tension set—possibly even fully bezel set," she added. And in terms of the price range? "It's so hard to say without knowing the diamond shape, carat weight, and quality, but I would venture to guess that if it's a high quality natural diamond, over two and a half or three carats, it most likely cost $65,000 to $85,000 on the low end and $125,000 on the high end." Even though the pop star may have confirmed their engagement, she said that the two have yet to make much progress on wedding planning. "I want to finish my tour, Callum's shooting, so we're just enjoying this period," she said in the interview. "I've never been someone who's really thought about a wedding, or dreamt about what kind of bride I would be. All of a sudden I'm like: 'Oh, what would I wear?'" While the singer admitted that in the past, she was unsure as to why getting engaged was so important to people, now, with Turner, she gets it. "This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don't know, be best friends forever—it's a really special feeling." Related: The Biggest Celebrity Weddings From the Past 90 Years In the interview, she also provided more details on how she and the actor became romantically involved. While the two had moved within the same social circles for years, their first official meeting was at The River Cafe in London, where they were introduced by the restaurant's cofounder. A year after that, they crossed paths again in Los Angeles at another restaurant—and began chatting about the book the "Levitating" singer was reading, Trust by Hernan Diaz. "And we both just happened to be reading the same book," she told the outlet. When asked whether all of these coincidences made the star feel as though they were destined to be together, she was confident in her response. "One thousand percent," she told the interviewer. What Are Nara Smith and Lucky Blue Smith's Net Worths
If you've ever wondered how much you could potentially make if you quit your job and started making Cinnamon Toast Crunch from scratch while dressed in couture, the answer is a lot. At least based on Nara Smith, who—despite being labeled as a "tradwife"—is undeniably the breadwinner (and breadmaker, obviously) in her marriage to Lucky Blue Smith. Though, to be clear, they're both insanely rich. Time to dig in. Much like I want to dig into Nara's homemade boba recipe. At least according to Celebrity Net Worth, who accurately notes that Lucky's been modeling for literal years—and has worked on some major brand campaigns. Celebrity Net Worth reports that Nara has $6 million in the bank—largely amassed from her TikTok earnings and influencing career. In other words, her net worth is six times Lucky's. So, how does Nara make her money? Per Yahoo, TikTok pays $0.50-$1.00 per 1,000 views on videos over 1 minute through their Creator Rewards program. Which definitely adds up when you have millions of followers and your videos are near-constantly going viral. The outlet estimates that Nara makes around $200,000 a month from TikTok based on her following and the popularity of her videos (which is 11.8 million as of now). This intel also falls in line with a deep dive that a fellow TikToker did into her earnings last March (though they note that $200k a month is conservative and it's possible Nara is making double that): Either way, TikTok isn't Nara's only revenue stream. She also works with multiple high end brands at the moment—including Chanel and Burberry. But her most creative ad to-date has to be for Marc Jacobs—where she "made" a handbag in her signature recipe style. Vogue did a deep dive on the ad's impact, noting that it "generated $966,000 in media impact value (MIV) on TikTok, and $285,000 on Instagram" in just the first 48 hours of publishing. Apparently this is a "MIV 149 times that of an average Marc Jacobs influencer TikTok post; and 44 times the Instagram average." In other words, the ad was hugely impactful—and it's fair to say Nara got paid accordingly. FYI, Nara (who's currently pregnant with her fourth child) spoke to Who What Wear about her career and why she's pushing back about the "tradwife" label—especially as she and Lucky split responsibilities around their home. "I'm a working mom. I take care of kids," she said. "I split the responsibility with Lucky. Our household is very 50/50. We try to figure out the kids while both of us work. It's very much this jigsaw puzzle that we're trying to work through every single day. Being labeled as [a tradwife], that just didn't fit. I didn't want this narrative out there that I'm just at home slaving away. I'm not a tradwife. I'm a working mom, and I love cooking, and I have a passion for cooking for my husband, for my kids. Cooking is my love language. I love taking care of people in that way."
