Community rallies to ‘Save KDHX' as battle over station's future heats up

ST. LOUIS – The battle over the future of the community radio station, KDHX is intensifying. Just days after a St. Louis judge ordered the station to restore voting rights to some dismissed volunteers, the community protested outside of the radio station.
Emotions ran high as former employees, board members, and community members rallied outside of KDHX, hoping to save their beloved radio station. They want new leadership to take over to prevent KDHX from going bankrupt.
Supporters filled the street outside the station saturday, waving signs that read 'Save KDHX', as drivers honked in solidarity
The group chanted for two hours, determined to make their voices heard.
'We are out here today because this is a treasured community institution that we are terrified we are going to lose,' said Courtney Dowdall, KDHX Associate Election Board Member.
For many, KDHX was a hub for local musicians, artists, and businesses. Among those at the rally were longtime DJs, some of whom left in protest last year, and new hosts who stepped in to fill the vacancies.
'The current leadership has just let us down, so it's time for them to step down and let new leadership take hold,' said Caron House, former KDHX Radio Host.
'They shouldn't be able to walk outside of Saint Louis and not feel a deep sense of shame because this is not their station! This is our station,' said Andy J, KDHX DJ.
' We have a lot of community supporters as well! Lots of listeners here. Lots of people who were involved in the music industry know what a huge loss this would be if we didn't have this in Saint Louis,' said Dowdall.
The rally was organized by L.O.V.E. of KDHX, a group raising funds to fight for the station's future. Their GoFund Me has now surpassed $35,000 of its $50,000 goal.
'People want us to be able to build a new board and build new leadership and revive KDHX to what it used to be' said House.
A former host emphasized that KDHX has been a community staple for 38 years — and they will not stop fighting to save it.
Fox 2 reached out to KDHX's Executive Board for comment, and we are still awaiting a response. Click here if you would like to support the L.O.V.E. of KDHX group in their efforts to save KDHX.

Mark Cuban Makes Major Donation To Jeff Cannonball ALS GoFundMe Campaign

Mark Cuban came through in a big way. Jeff Cannonball is an independent wrestler based in the New Jersey area. You might also know him from his humorous 'Short Soda Reviews' or his brief run in MLW. Cannonball recently announced some unfortunate news, as he was recently diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). ALS is more commonly known as 'Lou Gehrig's Disease,' and it is a neurodegenerative disease that leads to eventual paralysis and death. Cannonball's family, which includes his wife, former indie wrestler Terra Calaway, organized a GoFundMe campaign to help offset the costs of all of the changes in his life. This includes him being unable to work, incoming medical bills, and other adjustments, like needing to find a single-story home that accommodates his needs. The campaign has gotten a lot of support so far. Former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban made a huge donation to the campaign on Tuesday night by contributing $10,000. Cuban did not comment on the donation, but he has been active in fighting for better healthcare options and prescription costs through his Cost Plus Drugs company. The GoFundMe campaign is currently at 84% of its $100,000 funding goal. However, you can continue to share the campaign and make a donation if you are able to here. There is currently no cure for ALS. People with ALS have a typical lifespan of 3-5 years after diagnosis. However, that timespan can vary and some individuals can live longer. You can learn more about ALS on the Mayo Clinic website or through the ALS Assocation. Kobe and Gigi Bryant's Mural Is Vandalized for the Second Time in a Month. Now the Artist Says He's Moving It

A mural featuring Kobe and Gigi Bryant has been vandalized again The installation, located in Downtown Los Angeles, was targeted with spray paint shortly after its restoration was completed last week The artist, Sloe Motions, now says he will move the tribute to another locationA mural depicting the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna has been vandalized for the second time in a span of a month. The mural, located in Downtown Los Angeles, was tagged with white spray paint after it was restored to its pre-vandalized state on Friday, May 30, according to KNBC-TV. The 'Mambas Forever' mural on Main and 14th Street by Los Angeles-based artist Sloe Motions was first vandalized in April. The artist, whose real name is Louie Palsino, told the news station that he will now work to move the installation to another location. 'Everything happens for a reason and we now want to reach out and get this piece done in collaboration with another business or foundation, all donated by us and no charge to the new location,' Palsino said in a statement. 'The project will be better than the last with a proper wall, whether indoor or outdoor, for our community and people to appreciate.' The artwork depicts Kobe in his Lakers uniform kissing his daughter Gigi, who holds a basketball. The words "Mambas Forever" are written next to them. Shortly after the mural was initially vandalized, Palsino established a GoFundMe to help with restoration — and Lakers star Luka Dončić promptly donated the entire $5,000 goal. "Kobe is L.A. He and Gigi mean so much to this city, to the Lakers organization and to me personally," Dončić said in a statement at the time. "I'm happy to do anything to help make sure he and his daughter are honored." For Palsino, the incidents are not only marring his own tribute to the basketball icon, but also he fears they are affecting Bryant's legacy, he told CBS affiliate KCAL-TV. "We didn't want that disrespect to L.A. right here, and for people to see that, especially Vanessa," he said. "Kobe has brought nothing but light and insight and inspiration to the youth." ‘King of the Hill' actor Jonathan Joss' tragic final days scrounging for cash, begging for rides before murder: ‘I gotta get money'

'King of the Hill' actor Jonathan Joss had fallen on hard times and appeared to be financially struggling in the weeks before his murder, heartbreaking social media posts show. Joss — who portrayed John Redcorn on the cartoon comedy — had been in Austin over the weekend for a event he apparently organized offering a 'Q&A session and a meet & greet' with him, and also the chance to buy autographed photos at three-for-$25, according to the San Antonio Express News. 'When I was 36 I didn't need crap like this,' the 59-year-old said in a video as he rode a Greyhound bus to the Austin event. 'But now that I'm almost 60 I gotta get money.' 'Unfortunately my former manager did not help me with transportation to get back to San Antonio which was the plan….now I'm being ghosted,' he wrote on Facebook Sunday afternoon, explaining a short time later that they were on their way home. Advertisement Later that evening, Joss was gunned down outside his San Antonio home in what his husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales said was a homophobic attack by a bigoted neighbor. Cops have disputed that claim and said they'd found no evidence to support. But his struggles had been on display for weeks before the incident. Last week he was thrown out of a 'King of the Hill' panel in Texas after he stood up from among the crowd and started speaking into a mic that was intended for a Q&A portion of the event. 'There's a hole in my pocket where the money should go' Joss sang, before saying his house burned down recently 'because I'm gay.' Neighbors, however, told TMZ it was caused after Joss tried to heat his home with a barbecue grill when the city ruled his home uninhabitable and shut off power. A GoFundMe set up for Joss by fans after the fire raised more than $10,000, while the fire left three of his pet dogs dead and the home destroyed. Advertisement Other neighbors, however, told WOAI that Joss and his husband were harassed for their sexuality, but also agreed with numerous reports that they were 'erratic' neighbors — and even shared that cops had once been called after Joss was seen walking around the street with a rifle while screaming. 3 Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez reportedly told police 'I shot him' as he was being arrested on Sunday evening Getty Images Officers were called to the home at least 40 times for welfare checks and disputes with neighbors since January 2024, according to police. Joss had stopped by the remains of his home Sunday to pick up a victim's fire fund check from his mailbox, when his husband said they found the bones of one of their dogs hung on display. The actor started arguing with a neighbor over the sight, and was gunned down, Gonzales said. Neighbor Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, 56, was arrested blocks away shortly after — and reportedly told police 'I shot him' with a rifle, according to court documents obtained by The Post. Despite the tragic picture of Joss' last days, actors who worked with him over the years mourned his loss and recalled the joy of working with him. 'The cast has been texting together about it all day and we're just heartbroken,' said Nick Offerman, who worked alongside Joss on 'Parks and Recreation' for five years. 'Jonathan was such a sweet guy and we loved having him as our Chief Ken Hotate. A terrible tragedy,' Offerman told PEOPLE.
