Finextra02-07-2025
Banqup Group, the company behind the trusted digital platform Banqup, has announced a partnership with iPiD, a global leader in payee verification technology.

The partnership enhances Banqup's ability to protect businesses against invoice fraud while ensuring compliance with the growing wave of Verification of Payee (VoP) regulations across Europe and beyond.
At the heart of the collaboration is the integration of iPiD's Know Your Payee (KYP) technology into the Banqup platform, which is already known for combining e-invoicing and payments in a single, secure, and compliant environment. This move directly addresses one of the most common forms of business fraud—manipulated or spoofed payment instructions in digital invoices.
'At Banqup, we've built our platform to connect documents and payments in a way that's seamless, compliant, and secure,' said Arthur Paijens, responsible for Banqup SA, the payment institution part of Banqup Group. 'Partnering with iPiD allows us to take an even more proactive stance against fraud—verifying the payee before a payment is made and giving our users peace of mind.'
The solution is powered by the iPiD Node, a future-proof service that validates payee account information in real time. By doing so, it ensures that payments go to the intended recipient, reducing the risk of misdirected funds and aligning with evolving VoP legislation across markets.
Damien Dugauquier, Co-founder and CEO at iPiD, added: 'Our mission is to bring global KYP capabilities to businesses of all sizes. Working with Banqup Group enables us to deliver on that promise for Europe's SMEs, helping them protect their cash flow and transact with confidence.'
For Banqup users, the integration of iPiD's verification layer is seamless—enabling every payment to benefit from the additional protection without disrupting user experience. It's a powerful combination: document-driven processes, embedded payments, and intelligent payee verification.

Ambassador: 'I want that Super Bowl in Britain'

August 16 - England's ambassador to the United States wants the NFL to stage a Super Bowl in Great Britain. "I've made a big pitch for the first Super Bowl outside the U.S. to take place in Britain," Peter Mandelson told the Chicago Council on Global Affairs on Thursday, according to The Times, the oldest national daily newspaper in the U.K. "I want that Super Bowl in Britain. I don't care when it takes place, but I want it announced while I'm ambassador," he added. "We love it, we love it." The NFL has been playing regular-season games in England since 2007, but the jump to hosting a Super Bowl is as big as the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to the growing popularity of the league across Europe, Mandelson's interest likely includes a financial component. Net profits for host cities range anywhere from $150 million to $1 billion, depending on the source. Super Bowl LX is scheduled for Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Feb. 8, 2026, followed by Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., in 2027 and Super Bowl LXII at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in 2028. This season's international NFL slate includes games in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Madrid, Spain; Dublin, Ireland; Berlin, Germany; and three in London. --Field Level Media

Which of the record-breaking big four can you bank on for the healthiest profits? Investing expert Joanne Hart reveals all

It was all supposed to be different. When feisty newcomers such as Metro, Revolut and Monzo burst on to the British banking scene, there were high hopes for change. These new kids on the block would upend the traditional order and give the 'big four' – Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds and NatWest – a run for their money. Some 15 years later, however, and the Big Four are still very big – and growing bigger. They hold more than 60 per cent of all bank deposits, enjoy a chunky share of the mortgage market and dominate business lending too. Having closed thousands of branches and slashed staff numbers, they are also making record profits and there could be more growth to come.

Best used cars with biggest price drops in 2025 revealed – including three Ford models £1,000s cheaper than last year

A NUMBER of the nation's most popular used cars has seen significant price reductions this year - including a sought-after luxury EV. Data from AA Cars reveals some of the best deals drivers can find on vehicles aged three and four years old, reflecting increased stock and softened demand in the used car market. 3 3 3 Experts at AA Cars believe buyers now have more choice and negotiating power compared to just a year ago. Leading the list is the Tesla Model 3, which has experienced a dramatic 27% drop in average price year-on-year. The sleek EV, one of the world's best-selling cars, has fallen from £21,905 in 2024 to £15,993 in 2025, saving buyers an impressive £5,912. This sharp depreciation highlights a broader trend in falling EV prices, driven by increased supply, the introduction of more affordable models and the maturation of the used EV market. In second place is the Ford Ranger, a rugged pickup truck available in both single and double cab configurations. Its price has dropped by 18%, offering buyers savings of more than £4,000. Another standout luxury vehicle is the Range Rover Evoque, down 16%, with average prices falling from £24,714 to £20,712. Other notable four-year-old models include the Ford Kuga, Ford Focus, BMW X1 and Toyota Yaris, all showing reductions of 10 to 13%. For three-year-old vehicles, the Ford Ranger and Range Rover Evoque again lead the savings, with price cuts of 17 to 18%. SUVs such as the Volvo XC40, Ford Puma and Ford Kuga continue to offer excellent value for families, while smaller cars like the Fiat 500, Toyota Yaris and Ford Focus remain ideal for those looking to be a little more economical. One clear trend emerging is the growing appeal of affordable EVs and hybrids. As the cost gap between traditional and greener cars narrows, more drivers are considering making the switch. However, buyers are urged to shop wisely, ensuring vehicles are thoroughly inspected and come with verified service histories. AA Cars recommends choosing dealers with AA Inspected accreditation or opting for independent inspections starting at £99 to ensure peace of mind. James Hosking, Director of AA Cars, said: 'With many three-year-old cars now up to 20% cheaper than they were this time last year, drivers in the market for a used vehicle are in a strong position to find real value. 'This sharp correction in prices, especially on popular models, means buyers can now access premium features and newer designs at far more affordable prices. 'We're seeing a particularly favourable landscape for those upgrading from smaller or older models. 'The combination of increased stock and softened demand is giving consumers far more choice and better negotiating power than they've had in years. 'There are also encouraging signs for those considering electric or hybrid options, with more used low-emission vehicles entering the market and bringing prices down. As the cost gap between traditional and greener cars narrows, making the switch is becoming a more realistic option for many. 'Still, it's important to be well-informed. Shoppers should take time to compare listings, check what a fair market price looks like for their preferred spec, and factor in how things like mileage and vehicle condition could affect value over time. 'That's why it's so important to buy from a trusted dealer who can offer reassurances like a detailed inspection, verified service history, and third-party approvals. These are the things that help motorists buy with confidence.'
