A meaningful event happened at the 2025 ESPY Awards this week. The Indianapolis Colts were not recognized for a game, a play, or a season record, they were honored for something deeper.
On July 16, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the Colts received the Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year Award for their ongoing commitment to mental health awareness and community support.

shares how the Colts made mental health a priority
Indianapolis Colts co-owner Kalen Jackson spoke with
NFL
reporter Judy Battista shortly after the ESPYS ceremony. Jackson opened up about why the team decided to start a strong mental health initiative in the first place.
She explained that, years ago, the team saw how players, staff, and fans were quietly struggling. That's when they knew they had to act.
Under her leadership, the Colts created programs focused on mental wellness. These included support groups, community events, open discussions, and even in-house counselors for players and staff. The team also helped launch 'Kicking the Stigma,' a public campaign to raise awareness and fight the shame around mental health issues.

Jackson said in her interview, 'This isn't just about football. It's about people. It's about making sure every person connected to our team, and our city, knows they're not alone.'
The Colts' work goes beyond football and into the community
The Colts' mental health work didn't stop inside the locker room. They reached into local schools, partnered with national mental health organizations, and used their platform to speak openly about tough topics. Their players spoke in public service videos.
Coaches held community Q&A sessions. Fans even got involved through Colts-run mental health walks and donation drives.

This is why the 2025 Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year Award felt so earned. The ESPYS aren't just about what happens on the field, they shine a light on how sports teams can be a force for good.
According to ESPN, the Colts were chosen for their 'long-term, sustained impact' and for using football as a way to create real change.
At the end of the day, the Colts proved that winning can look like listening, helping, and healing and that kind of victory means everything.

'I'd beat out Tom Brady': Anthony Richardson's confident camp quote sparks fan frenzy online

Anthony Richardson Says He'd Win Over Tom Brady in QB Battle: 'It's Me vs. Me' (Image Via X) If confidence had a face this NFL preseason, it would be wearing a Colts helmet with "Richardson" on the back. Fresh off injury and ready to reclaim QB1 status, Anthony Richardson lit up the internet with a quote that sent shockwaves through camp coverage not because he dissed anyone, but because he casually brought Tom Brady into the conversation. But don't get it twisted, Richardson isn't trying to outshine the GOAT. Instead, he's doubling down on a mentality that has Colts fans fired up: the only competition he sees is in the mirror. Anthony Richardson says even Tom Brady wouldn't stop him from earning the starting role Anthony Richardson didn't hold back when asked if he feels like the starting quarterback this year even though the Colts brought in veteran Daniel Jones this offseason. His response? Pure alpha energy. 'Even if they brought Tom Brady in here,' Richardson said, 'I'd just have to work and try to beat him out.' Yup. That Tom Brady. The second-year QB made it clear he wasn't talking trash or throwing shade, the quote was part of a larger answer about how he views competition. Richardson explained that he's not worried about who the Colts bring in, not Daniel Jones, not anyone because it's always 'me vs. me.' His focus is on putting in the work, not on comparing resumes. The Colts QB battle is technically on but Richardson looks locked in as the Week 1 starter On paper, the Colts have a 'competition' at quarterback. But in reality? It's Richardson's job to lose. Sportsbooks have him as the overwhelming favorite to start Week 1, with odds sitting around -350. Even GM Chris Ballard recently admitted they might've rushed Richardson into action a little too soon last season. After just four games and a shoulder injury that ended his rookie campaign early, the Colts are taking a more careful approach this year. But all signs point to Richardson being in control of the offense. At training camp, he's been sharper, more confident, and more vocal. That quote wasn't just a soundbite, it's a reflection of how he's carrying himself in Year 2. With raw athleticism, freakish tools, and now a more refined mental game, Richardson might not just be back. He might be dangerous. Ten students fall ill after consuming khichdi at State-run school for girls in Khammam

Around ten students were taken ill after reportedly consuming khichdi at the Tribal Welfare Ashram High School for girls in Kalluru town of Khammam district on Monday. Sources said that several students complained of nausea and stomach ache after having breakfast at the school on Monday morning. They were rushed to the local Community Health Centre and their condition is stated to be stable. Mandal-level officials of the Revenue and other allied departments visited the hospital and enquired about the health condition of the students. The cause of illness is suspected to be a 'half-cooked' dish, sources added. Meanwhile, various student organisations sought immediate steps to prevent reoccurrence of such incidents in State-run residential schools and welfare hostels.
